I love the game, Im so happy it's back to WWII. The feeling I have now is that Im going to like it more than 4 because it's WWII, but its only a Beta but it should get better.

Sprint is so annoying, you can't tap shift again to stop running.

I'm just not sold. I really want to slow down and play this game with rifles and not all the other distractions. I'll definately be waiting to get this at a discount. By then, stable mods should be out which will make it more enjoyable IMO.

Well you still have to taken into account other factors of the game, this is 3 maps of the MP may be 3 of the worst for all we know. Im going to buy this myself as I do like the MP from what i have played and the SP/Coop looks good also. Also im sure there will be some rifle only mods out pretty soon too :p

You can bank on it. There are plenty of clans/servers that will be running it.

I'm enjoying it aside from a few things.

              1. The spawn points are just horrible. I found CoD4's MP spawn points to be bad, but these are often times worse.

              2. I can only play in HC mode. It actually makes the weapons feel powerful. Rifles can actually kill without hitting the head, amazing!

              3. The dog animations are rather crap.

Yeah the dogs "lag" which is highly annoying.

there were hit registry troubles in CoD4?

Early in the game. It was patched out somewhere around patch 1.3 (at least the sniper rifles were fixed then)

Yes, there were (and still are for the R700) - there are times where you will be completely steadied on a target and it just won't register - neither person is lagging, so it's a mystery. As said above, it was, for the most part, fixed after a couple patches - but the registry in CoD5 seems to be worse.

There is lag compensation too, the thing that took you back in front of a claymore even though you may run past it. Annoying if you ask me. But there was and still are the registry errors at hand. I lost count how many head shots ive had that havent counted. Only to have someone spawn next to me and blow my arm off with his shotgun.

Re: So what's your first impressions?

Up until yesterday, I had only played the Beta on the regular softcore setting, but some of my fav servers were empty last night, so I tried a couple of HC servers. In COD4, I played both HC/SC equally, I'd say.

But I can honestly say that I really didn't enjoy HC any more. I'd say at least 75% of the killcams I saw were just people camping, waiting for others to run by. I realize not everyone camps, but it's obvious why a lot of those folks prefer HC. The amount of people using Juggernaut was huge, and there were of course the people making "pixel" throws of nades at the beginning of S&D rounds to wipe out multiple people at once. The only factor that helped a bit, was that the mini-map is no longer on-screen all the time (you need to press [X] to bring up the large map to see the dots).

Up to now, one of my fav servers ran in regular/SC mode, but disabled the killstreaks completely...so the mini-map only showed your own troops, no arty, no dogs...and if someone was being cheap and camping in a corner, you could often survive the surprise attack then send their a$$ to hell. I found it much more fun and more like the games pre-COD4.

Personally, those are the types of servers I'll be trying to find when the full version comes out, and hopefully there are more clans/admins out there who will run such servers.

This isn't meant to put down anyone's choice of mode, but it really made me realize how some of COD4's features, and how they're exploited by a lot of players, have made the game less enjoyable for me. I really do hope the HC filter is put back in for the full version, as I plan to avoid HC servers as much as I can at this point.

Most people are just wising up. In HC TDM, especially with loads of people, you have to sneak into a corner and camp. Otherwise its Spawn in front of the enemy, Die Repeat. In Snd, people camp all the time so its regular to see that. Basically any SND map you go in, you'll see the Set nades/early spam of grenades and rifle grenades soaring over the horizon, thus another reason i play TDM. I guess im like the opposite of your opinion, because i cant stand "Softcore" or stock for more than a round or 2. Pumping a whole magazine into someones chest isnt what i find fun, and it also makes it feel much more consoley/arcadey to me that way. Just a difference in opinions.

I felt similar about COD4, as it seemed there were just too many hopping/diving/leaning generally spazzy players that could dodge away from harm. That was one of the reasons I spent about half my time in HC in COD4.

But for whatever reason, I'm not getting the same effect from COD:WW. I don't know if the players in the Beta are just more inexperienced, or if Treyarch has adjusted something, but I'm generally able to kill my oppt without too much of a problem. I guess I'll see next week when the full version comes out if that continues or not.

At any rate, my preference is to always keep moving (hunting) on a map, unless it's some sort of OBJ where you have to hold a position. Camping in HC TDM just isn't fun for me, even if you are able to rack up the kills, but even in the group of people I play with, there were a couple who always did that back in other games, so I'm sure they'll enjoy it.

I have found HC to be my favourite mode but only in CTF. I love it simply for the fact that the bolt action rifles can kill in 1 hit and it feels awesome to down someone with that precision shot. In CTF i seem to find that there is a significant amount less campers due to the fact that people are trying to catch the flag.
