Re: So what's your first impressions?

At any rate, my preference is to always keep moving (hunting) on a map
Yeah, I hunt too. I call it "swimming the map" in my head I'm thinking like a shark and I always keep moving forward. Some times that's in reverse, but always forward. :salute:

I'm starting to like CoD5 more and more. I guess my previous experience with endless dogs was the result of someone modding the server. I've not seen that level of doggage since.

I'm having fun running around shooting folks and that's what it's all about. Now, to find a nicely configured server. Whiskey, shoot me a PM if you've got a server recommend and/or you'd like to "shoot 'em up" a few rounds. :ar15:

I actually recommend people (especially if you're on the West Coast) try this one out:

They have a mix of every game-type except WAR (couldn't get it working). It's regular/softcore, but they have disabled the killstreaks - no recon/no arty/no dogs. You can actually concentrate on gameplay. I love it. It has been reasonably full all this past week, and they are planning on having a regular server running when the game comes out next week.

          4 maps actually:

          Roundhouse
          Outskirts
          Seelow
          Downfall

And vehicles can be easily disabled on any server if people want infantry-only.

Unfortunately, they seem to have switched it to HC. :shakehead: I just played a few rounds, and it was the COD4-like return of camping and explosives. They're talking about possibly running rifles-only HC when the full version comes out, which would be OK, but if they just stick to HC, I know I probably won't play there much anymore. *sigh*

HC isnt actually that bad once you really give it a go. I hated HC in CoD4 but the larger maps in WaW seem to provide a slight advantage, and rifles only HC is awesome fun.

Depends on your playstyle. Using a shotgun in HC is damn tricky...

...but I feel camping is promoted too much with not knowing where your teammates are, and pretty much all weapons have very little recoil which makes even the thompson a good long range weapon in HC.

Compare that to DoD:S, the STG in that game has massive recoil and it's a challenge to get good with it :)

Re: So what's your first impressions?

                      Where to start:

Nah over all the game is okay, its not something i would want to go out and buy though.

Everything thats wrong are as follows.
                      • Weapons are messed up, dont look right at all, only gun thats looks and feels right is the shotgun, the rest are fubar. The M1 for example, previously was a rapid fire gun, now it takes ages between shots.
                      • Graphics are sweet, i'm not fussed with crysis graphics to other games because personally crysis multiplayer sucks a$$
                      • The BIGGEST crap part is the shooting through walls crap, its a game made for noobs i swear, just give them aimbot it does the same job
                      • The Sound didn't bother me, its a beta version for one so they haven't sorted that out as you will notice so...gotta live with that
                      • Kills, its like a 1 shot kill game which really really sucks.

                      Good things:
                      • I Like the addition of new factions.
                      • The Maps look awesome, really nice detail
                      • Calling in the dogs and Arty, nice addition, looks sweet when they fire it over from the far island, nice effects.
                      • Nice explosion and water effects, very hard to achive in games but they did a sweet job.
                      • I actually quite like the mix and match weapon selection and perks system.
                      • I like the challenges, gives you summat to aim for
                      • Unlocks system, with the ranks, a great addition, but like everything else will become repetitive

Over all the game has alot of floors but is fun for awhile then it gets boring.

COD 2 still rules the Call Of Duty series, i'd rather play COD 2 over COD 5, they over did cod 5 with all these little niggly bits with shooting through walls...all that stuff blows.

                      3 out fo 5 stars ***..

Re: So what's your first impressions?

My biggest problem is with weapon sounds/animations. It all feels very tacky and not very well done. Many of the textures are pretty ugly on the very highest settings as well, far from as good as in CoD4 (even those are pretty crap as well)

Many things have changed for the worse as well, most weapons have close to no recoil and lots of ammo, seriously what were treyarch thinking with giving the thompson 80 bullets in one clip?

It's not a bad game but I don't really like it - it was ok to play but I got really bored of it after playing the beta for about 6 hours. A good thing is that you can customize servers to a much bigger extent than in CoD4 - but if 90% of S&D servers are HC already in the beta what have I to expect in the full version?

Oh, and I love Crysis MP

Well, after playing the beta, I've decided I'm passing on CoD5 for now.

                            first impression:

reminds me of Halo 3 where they took away the nice loud good sounding gun audio and replaced it with loud crappy voice acting.

and then theres the ww2 aspect where all the guns look like peices of wood with little metal tubes on them

im not super impressed with how the game looks really i mean it is nice but there are things missing.

meh. too bad they didnt have those nice multiplayer meatures implemented in CoD4 because i still like CoD4 much better.

First off, everyone needs to get the thought of COD4 out of their heads, because that is blinding your perception of CODWaW.

I never played the beta so I don't know about all the issues those who did play saw. I will tell you from playing about 1 1/2 hrs, I was mesmerized by the surroundings. The buildings and map layouts look great, the graphics look good, and I'm having no trouble with any of the guns (except the sniper rifle). The sniper rifles just seem clumsy.

My only negative are the tanks, got in one for about 3 minutes and was glad I got zooked. Is it just me or our the turrets really slow to turn around?

Overall I think Treyarch did a great job and deserves some praise for all the hard work put into this game.

I definitely recommend this game to all of you guys. Trust me, I'm not one to go and buy a game when it first comes out, but this one I did and I'm glad I did. Now off to get that zombie mode!!!

They're supposed to be, at first. There are vehicle perks now that will increase turret turn speed, reload speed, vehicle speed, and reduce overheating of the top MG. They wanted to nerf the tanks a bit so that infantry troops could still survive against them.
