    So what's your first impressions?

    1. Bolt action rifles are **** (at least the first 3 ones), won't kill in a shot to the (upper) torso, just neck/head
    2. No gun has any recoil other than a little bit more random spread, making pretty much all automatic weapons extremely easy to use, worse than CoD4 P90
    3. The player animations and sounds are ugly (at least in my opinion)
    4. TDM sucks, but somehow I already knew that :p
    5. Graphics are good, but I'm spoilt by playing Crysis Wars too much
    6. The trench gun is awesome, but it reminds me of the W1200 with a reskin
    7. OMG 4 perks!! grrrrrr
    8. S&D is really odd with tanks, but overall pretty ok except for the perks yet again
    9. Did I mention that the bolties are ****?

Nah, but I enjoyed it. Not enough to make me want to buy the game, but I'll play some more the next days and we'll see.

    What did you think?

    LOVE IT!

Only gripe I have is that the dogs are a bit strong, but they can be dodged, which is cool.

Other thing is the sound is weird. The game uses windows sound instead of its own, like in CoD4, which is strange. So I gotta figure out that problem.

Love the bolts, love the heavy machine guns, love the LMGs. Even love the tank warfare. There is so much cover and the splash damage is small that you can usually get away.

Off to figure out the sound issues.

Not my cup of tea, SD is OK, but I still enjoy CoD4 more...

I beg the devs though, please increase the bolt rifle power - it's ridiculous to jump shot somebody only to have them tank it 95% of the time.

It's good, but my 4 major concerns:

        1) BOLT RIFLES!! Ugh, it frustrates me to no end.
        2) Maps not suitable for SD (too big/tanks/etc.)
        3) Hit registry - still problems as seen in Call of Duty 4
        4) Sounds, I don't feel like I'm shooting a gun, more like playing airsoft.

Exactly my point. It sucks hitting someone with a nice chestshot in close quarters, only to have them rush on and kill you with their smg. And if you all of a sudden put a scope on your boltie, you get higher damage, which is really odd considering it's the same gun.

Played another hour, don't like it much. A step in the wrong direction I think, even more perks and consolish gameplay. No thanks. The animations feels wrong and ugly, the sounds are weird... I could go on for ages.

And the maps are even smaller than in CoD4! What's the point in having tanks if all you can do is to drive around in a little circle... lol

I bought vCoD + UO the other day for 10 E, I've had a lot more fun playing that online to be honest.

            /rant

But the trench gun is still pwn

Re: So what's your first impressions?

ok im a bit disaponted by this, my main thing is it just isnt the CoD i know. all the other cod's are fast pasted and fun, this is just slugish and not fun.

now call of duty 4 demo i played about 6times before i got bored it was great this is just not CoD, i mean yes it has the same name and yes its got the perks and al lthat jazz, BUT its just not it doesnt feel like CoD should.

Now snipping is my pasion on this game and i allways do well at sniper but i just cant do a thing i get some nice kills but i get flanked every 2 seconds the maps are very small and the tank thing is just stupid.

I was so exspcting more from this i said i was gonna buy this and now its looking dim other people might/might not agree when isay about it not feeling like CoD but to me it just isnt, its lacking in areas and its hard to discribe what im trying to say. CoD2/CoD4 are Amazing game and the pace is one of the thing that makes it so good there just isnt the pace and more and the guns are awfull imo they,ve got to realistic for CoD i play hardcore on CoD4 all the time its fast paced and awsome. this isnt and that why i highly dout i will be buying it.

              what a let down.

just to add on things other people said,
the sounds are a little wierd i dunno if there be better in the full game and i dont rly care to find out. and the overall movment of the game is ugly and slugish. meh

              First Impressions: 1/5 star

its really bad iv loved the CoD series so much for the last i dunno how many years just like BF they,ve blown it. i really had high exspectations about this but oh well. guess il be playing lich king in stead one last thing about the system spec i dunno whats going on with this game but i ran CoD2 on all High CoD4 on med/High and this is just not great on my PC.

oh well pls comment on my ideas maybe u agree.

              thx

Re: So what's your first impressions?

I agree that the maps are small and if you have any more than 16 people in the server it's chaos and many times you die within 5 seconds of spawning. Hopefully with the full release of the game we get bigger maps which I'm sure we will. If you like sniping just try to play on a smaller server so there are less people to flank you.

As for the feel of the game, it felt weird for me to at first. But as I started playing it more it slowly got back to the COD4 feel I am accustomed to. I'd say just mix up the game types and number of people you play with and keep playing, you may grow into it. My first impressions I'd give it a 3.5/5 because of some of the problems already mentioned now.

right now i still stand by my comments on first impressions. it may grow on me might not.

According to one of the developers, and my talking to one of the testers, this isn't quite accurate (I'm just passing on what I read and was told in conversation...haven't tried this enough myself yet).

Shots to the upper torso should be a one-shot kill as well...BUT...what is often happening is that because of the way the weapons are held, a lot of shots don't actually hit the torso, but wind up hitting the arms, forearms, shoulders, or weapon. There's a lot of stuff in the way. This is one of the reasons the devs actually decided to make upper torso shots count as higher-damage hits. Now I don't know if Stopping Power needs to be involved for the very weakest rifles, but you should start seeing 1-hit kills as soon as you unlock a rifle or two.

Keep trying it, while keeping in mind the stuff about arms/etc being in the way, meaning that fewer shots are actually getting through.

It needs more bullets! Or reload time shortened by 10%.. I can definitely reload faster than that..

Also, dogs. I hate everything besides UAV. Hell, I hate all that in COD4

Re: So what's your first impressions?

I think we should all take into consideration that this is the Vanilla mode of this game and not hardcore. That being said after I finished playing tonight I had ranked up enough to get the stopping power perk and the ability to create custom classes amongst other things. The biggest gripe for me is that the weapons all sound hollow or weak, someone earlier said they sounded like Airsoft guns, so true. Maps are very pretty but also fairly small and none were really noticeably larger than the largest CoD4 maps.

I wish they could make another CoD in the vein of United Offensive, that would be my ultimate CoD.

Re: So what's your first impressions?

The basic mechanics that are in CoD4 are in here, ex I can pretty much play the same way I play in CoD4 and have the same success (almost always have a 2:1 ratio, but getting 5:1 or 6:1 is not all that hard).

I could do with out the dogs though, in the last round I played I ended up killing 9 of them that were attacking me one after the other, all this after just one enemy player called them. If that becomes common place its going to get old fast.

The weapon sounds are wimpy and to say the least I am very disappointed with them, whether they are "real" or not does not matter, it should not sound like you are shooting a BB gun.

I agree with who ever was talking about server size, anything over 16 is way to many for these maps, but thats same thing in CoD4.

That being said I like the sniping much better in this game than CoD4, I never sniped in CoD4 but for some reason in this game I find it much more enjoyable, could be the way the maps are designed.

Lastly, unless I missed it somewhere you are unable to filter by hardcore/softcore anymore.

Other then what I mentioned above this is CoD4 in a WW2 setting, oh and the gore rocks!

Re: So what's your first impressions?

The hit registry is also just as poor as it was in early CoD4 though - I shoot directly on a guy with my bolt (either w/ or w/o a scope) and it just doesn't register at all.

I started having fun with it after playing SD, as the TDM rounds (in the beta) are too short and chaotic. But overall, my main gripe is the fact that the bolt rifles are ridiculously weak - so as a scope you almost always get pistol kills - you no scope somebody and they just keep on runnin'.

And by sniping, I mean up close and personal, not sitting back and taking my time on shots. Also, (I know I'm ranting) the ghillie suits are unneccessary IMHO. Countless times I've watched killcam only to see my ghillie suit poking through the wall, and it was on a map where I didn't even need the suit! Ugh!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying the game and having a good time, but I just happen to have more gripes with this game over say CoD4 (even in its demo stage).
