How is it that three years in...

... people still don't have even a rudimentary understanding of the most basic attack helicopter concepts?

I must've had over 15 different pilots tonight, and not one showed promise whatsoever. At one point, it was so bad that in two soloing instances, I managed to acquire three times my team's combined points.

    What. The. F*ck.

I can fathom people not being extremely proficient, but at this point in the game's life, I expect everyone to have a working understanding of what an attack chopper is and what it's supposed to do. When I sit in a heli and a pilot completely ignores the blatantly obvious targets in front of us, I can't help but feel sorry for the average player... my god, does it hurt to suck this badly? It has to hurt.

My brain is leaking now. Thanks.

Like, f*cking seriously... this is FACEPALM.JPG worthy.

I feel your pain Sloi. But what I don't get is that in 27 years you haven't yet realized that people simply cannot be counted on, especially for intelligence. You also have to take into account that there are still new players coming to BF2 and that some players have been ground-pounding for 3 years.

I have only a rudimentary ability in flying the helis and aircraft. It comes from not even bothering to try to fly most of the time because of getting sniped out of the cockpit over and over and OVER again because I was in THEIR aircraft, not to mention being redlined 9 out of 10 times when trying to be a gunner in an attack heli. Sure, I can practice on single player mode but it just isn't the same. I have been banned from too many servers for revenge tk's, which I totally accept the blame, to even bother much with trying to fly anymore. :salute:

I rarely bother with the choppers unless I can solo. It's just not worth the frustration.

                So the answer is....

If pilots were Klingons, this topic wouldn't exist!

*I feel your pain. Which is why I refuse to jump into a helo with anyone I don't know. Period. Just a total waste of time. I've done the tourist thing. Maybe they think that a general wants to get a tour of the map before engaging targets, so they take me for a nice scenic trip into the country side of Oman City......

And rank means phuk all. Like Chael said, they've either been grounding it for 3 yrs or they've been playing commander in knife servers for 1 yr, and when it comes to real combat, or anything they're cannon fodder.

It's a strange phenomenon and I too share the naiivety. :salute:

On a good note, I've seen a few servers now that have rules to stop random sucky noobs from wasting the choppers/jets.

seriously. everyone knows that ATTACK choppers:

are for snipers to use for transportation so they can bail out on a mountain top or crane.
should be used to flag hop to capture flags.
are the first vehicle you should try to get when your brand new to the game.
should be used for your own personal obstacle course runs.

Well, for example. I could consider myself a good pilot in Project reality, but not great in BF2 at all. Not only are the flight physics different (not the problem, I can still fly the thing fine) but the way to fly and tactics are not even similar. I am used to PR so of course if I try in BF2 I will suck a bit.

The biggest problem though is the lack of tolerance for people who aren´t the best. How do you expect people to get better, when the "elite few" just TK them out of the chopper, redline them or solo without letting anyone in.

Come on, have a little bit of patience. Most people don´t need that long to get the hang of it, you don´t have to be constantly getting uber K/D ratios

In PR attack helicopters take 20 minutes to respawn so you can understand having a bad pilot/gunner getting you killed is annoying (added to the fact it is very easy to get killed) but in BF2 its what, 1 minute? Only 1 minute... You can hardly get annoyed over that...

Dude - BF2 is arcade style compared to PR. We want our quick fix, and bam onto the next thing.

For anyone who remembers helicopters in Desert Combat, they required way more skill to fly than they do in BF2. The Cobra in BF2 is like the Apache on auto-pilot. Obviously, DC vehicles had way more firepower, but DC was in a league of its own.

Does PR run on 64 bit Vista?

I just had the weirdest glitch ever. I fired a TV at an enemy chopper but I got the "effed up screen" glitch where all you can see is a ground like texture. Then, about a second later, the screen flickered back to normal and my missile was flying at the enemy chopper, who I saw return fire with its own TV missile. Then my screen flickered again and I was seeing what the enemy chopper's gunner was seeing though their TV screen; my own chopper dodging their TV missile. I'm not sure if I was able to control their missile or not, but I know witnessed the last 1.5 seconds of the enemy gunner's shot from their POV. After the shot missed I was back to my normal POV. Weirdest thing ever.
