    Servers with 'house' rules.

What do you guys think about servers that run 'no fighting commander' and 'no soloing' and so on. For me, i cant stand it. I just want to playing the god dam game not read some crappy scrolling text that makes the gameplay bland.
Some of the best parts of bf2 were sneaking into a uncap and blowing up Uav/arty, grabbing a jet and getting away, oh wait i just got banned.

The ONLY rule I agree with is:

"No fighting commanders" UNLESS it is Karkand. Commanders should do their job, especially when other players are willing to command properly. I just hate it when a commander is flying a jet/chopper - or uses the assetts for his own personal gain.

I loved BF2 when it first came out for the sole reason that my buddies and I could infiltrate the enemy base (or Carrier) and wreck complete havoc upon the players there. It's so much fun, and it's SO easy for the team that spawns there to kill you, but most just sit there typing a complaint so they get killed.

I agree, rules make for boring games. Usually the rules are there to suit the admin's choice of vehicle; for instance a chopper-flying admin will likely post a rule such as "no slow-flying". I think there should be no rules at all.

BTW a good wake server with no rules: Wake Island Madness!! 74.53.113.76:16567
Only problem with this server is that the US team always gets stacked.

The only rule I agree on is no attacking uncap with jets, no force TK and flying commanders, that fine I understand.

Anything else I totaly ignore and continue to do it until I get kick/banned.
            - No bunny hopping/ dolphin diving?
            - No C4 buggy? No C4 on Flags clymores on flags?
            - No solo TV, chaingun wtf?
            - No slow flying who controls that, so i cant land my jet for repairs?
And here are the best ones
            - Only clan XXX can command on this server
            - If a XXX clan member is waiting for chopper helicopter you cant take that vehicle
            - or do not cap refinery in Karkand its a Uncap on this server
            - No t-baging?

List can go on and on stupid rules are meant to be broken.

If you see many of those illegal rules inform the servers GSP and or EA so it gets back around to the GSP. As many of those things are limiting the way people can use weapons which is not allowed. Especially the waiting for a clan member, you don't have to wait for anyone or let someone else take something when you where there first, you can jump in and wait for them, but if they start spamming get out, then it might be time to take off or leave the improperly administrated server.

No C4 jeep, bunnyhop/dolphin dive, spawnkill are perfectly valid rules.

If you don't like the rules, there's no need to be a d1ck to everyone else on the server. Leave if you don't like the rules on the server. Especially if the rules are displayed on the loading screen.

Yep those are good rules but some of the rules servers have are against the EA ROC for Ranked Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 2 servers.

I was talking about the legit rules. About the ones that violate the EA RoC, I suppose you do have the right to complain about those.

                            Re: Servers with 'house' rules.

One thing I have recently begin to hate is the uncap commander can sit there without worry of being killed, but the opposing teams commander can be artied/ attacked all round.

I really miss the old server message (and consequentially, usually the only one) keep the teams balanced and fair. How direct and to the point, but I guess the game has evolved sine then and more rules have been implemented.

I am torn with the no attack uncap with aircraft; because, they do have defense mechanisms for a reason. Even though I personally don't do it; because, I feel it is cheap. But I hate how maps with an uncap airfiled and a cap airfield, the uncap team can rape the uncap's airfield. If you are going to have a rule protecting one, it should have a rule to protect the other.

Which brings me to my fianl point of, why don't more maps have dual uncaps? My guess is because, EA never intended for the uncap to be an unattackable (hence the countermeasures in the uncaps)!

P.S. Wizard: The no C4 rule is a joke, and I don't see how you claim it is "being a ****" to others on the server. If you can't combat a jeep with a piece of armor, then There's Your Problem! But I do agree with you about the bunnyhop and spawnkilling.

If you cant kill a dolphin diver or bunny hopper you need to practice more, I don't agree to bunny hopping rule because bunny hopping/dolphin diving doesn't give you an advantage, at all. When you bunny hop you can't shoot or do anything, your just avoiding being hit and if the shooter has poor aim (like most average players) you get away with it. I kill bunny hoppers all the time it makes it easier when they hop, because they can't shoot back. Only rule I like is - everything goes, as long as everybody plays legitimately and don't exploit game glitches.
