I've played on their server at least 50 times. I've never had a bad game or a lousy admin. They just happened to take their squad play seriously, that's all. Some people play it like it was meant to be played when DICE thought up the Commander role.

Guess you had to be there. This went well beyond taking squad play seriously. This was basically (and this is pretty close to a quote)

"Do exactly what I say or you will be banned from the server, even if what I say makes no sense and does not positively contribute to the teams success. This is my server and you will do as you are told or you will be banned."

If they are so intense about their game play, where were they when the TWL Titan ladders were still open? If you want total control over your team, and make sure that everyone is pulling in the same direction all the time, following every order as closely as possible, that's where you need to be. My team stormed up and down that ladder and never once ran into them.

Maybe this was an oddity, but I definitely got the impression that this was less about wanting to work together to win the game, and more about everyone should be doing what he said, because as he pointed out atlest 5 times in this 5 min tirade to me "This is my server and if you don't like it get the **** out".

If they banned you, how do you keep getting on their server to play? Or are they just kicking you? And really, why would you want to go back there anyway?

You stayed there and listened to this guy for 5 minutes? If I was pubbing around and I ran into an admin like that, I would have just left and gone somewhere else.

Re: Wow.... anyone else run into this guy?

Wait a sec- I'm confused. How many complaints about the battlefield games revolve around commanders being useless, squads not following orders, people going off in 25 different directions instead of working as a unit?

So now, you ignore orders, get yelled at, and *that's* complaint-worthy, too? Did you ask about the orders? Did you make your own squad, and give better orders? No?

Maybe BigDog sad something inappropriate to you, maybe he didn't. I wasn't there. But I do know this: The guy works very hard to foster a community of gaming servers where people *do* follow orders. If they have a question, they either do it anyway, because they understand the commander has a better view of the situation then they do, or they ask, "Are you sure that's where you want squad 3?" And if he says, "Yes," then you say, "Yes sir!" and go secure the objective or die trying. And when you respawn you keep doing it. And if it's hell on your score, it doesn't matter because the team's win is more important than your K : D ratio.

And in exchange, you get to find out what the game is like when a commander earns his gold star and orchestrates the battle properly. When people communicate, work as a team, and follow orders. Sort of like a good clan's unit cohesion, except now it supercedes any single clan philosophy and becomes a single TeamPlayer philosophy.

But I bet that sounds pretty silly, like I take the team too seriously?

That's why you're banned, and I play there every day.

Lmao yep thats LeadFacial for ya. He got extremely angry at me for declining the orders over and over. Then starting ranting on about how he could own my clan, and kill my dog or something. Accent was too heavy for me to catch most of it.

He got pretty worked up, "No I'm talking to dip**** squad leader one not you!."

Anywho; I don't really understand the problem in the first post. But if it's about admins who, "Know everything", I can tell you I hate em too. But the thing I hate most is an admin on a server who's the commander and he keeps telling me to attack the same flag I already have the marker on, and then I say "No" because it's already there and he kicks me for, "Not being a teamplayer".

I didn't know this had been posted on their forums. I didn't bother to go by there, because I figured it would be more of the same, which after reading a few threads, it is.

That's actually not a terribly inaccurate of a representation of how it went, apart from him failing to mention that he was literally screaming his every command at everyone, and I never claimed to out rank him (I just assumed everyone was max rank by now). We lost the round, literally by seconds. But it was only as close as it was because we (read my squad) pushed the titan. The ground game was gone. We were WAY behind. Rolling the silos would have only sped up the process. He had every other squad on the ground, me and the 4 other guys in my squad overcame probably about 10 guys on titan D to break consoles 2 & 4 (4 I broke myself by cloaking past 4 guys and suicide deting it), and rushed the core. We got pushed out, but made a good push back. They were defending stupid, and I felt that we could over come their D. He wanted me to assure him we could take the core, and I couldn't do that. I was our only shot tho, because the ground game was done. We pushed into the core and started hammering it.

How close was the game? I got killed in the core. The second I got resed, our hull went up. I put one more voss clip into the core and got the point for destroying their core. So how ever long it takes to empty an entire voss clip is how close it was. I can assure you that going back to ground would have only made it happen faster.

I was not a jack *** to him, but he was a jack *** to me. I was not, and still am not asking to be unbanned. They can run their interweb fiefdom anyway they see fit. I just thought the guys behavior was... amusing and wanted to know if anyone else had run into him. I'm sure I'm not the first person he's behaved like this to.

Yep that pretty much sums up what he said to me over VOIP. Selfish piece of ****, you're what's wrong with this game, don't question my orders, ect.

Sigh.... Now that I have been cast from paradise, what ever shall I do? Guess i'll have to make a post on their forums. I'm going to be civil, intelligent, and (I hope) funny. Who wants to take odds on whether I receive replies representing civil discourse or mockery and contempt?

Usually one of the guys that wasn't there at the time goes back, and we follow him. They must lift their bans or something, dunno really.

good teamplay is always essential and the goal is to win. However i feel that maybe TTP is going a little overboard on their part to create a team environment. Berating players because they don't follow orders is never the way to go. Personal attacks are even worse. Ever hear of the saying you get more flies with honey? Maybe if the approach was positive vs negative you would find that more people will be willing to follow the commanders orders.

Oh, you're not. He's the reason I never go there anymore either. Pretty much everyone else I've played with there is cool, and the teamwork on the server is great, but I refuse to spend my time on a server run by an admin like that. Call it personal preference, or stubborn-ness, or what have you. Here's another thread regarding bigdog and TTP (which, I'm guessing, is the one they were referring to when they said 'new Anti-Bigdog thread'):

                              http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/gen...topic=41750944

After about 10 posts bigdog himself decided to join in on the fun, and you can see how he ends up carrying himself near the end of the thread.

Note my first couple of posts in the GFAQs thread, and you'll see what I mean. I only played in his squad/on his team once back when I still played on TTP so I thought originally it wasn't an accurate sampling of his demeanour, but judging by this thread (as well as how he treats other people on his forums - just look at misterkrab's post on the end of the second page of the thread I linked for example) I can see it's definitely closer to the rule than the exception. Pity that such good gameplay can be ruined by someone like that. I wonder if his ego will let him realise that his server is successful in spite of him, not because of him. Doubtful, but you never know.

1 thing i might add everyones talking about this huge emphasis on 'teamwork' and 'communication' and such. You only need so much communication and teamwork in order to have a team win but thats not all. You need people that are intelligent and can take down enemies independently.

My mental picture of common teamwork is when i shoot some guy and then 2 more guys dive to revive him and i blow up all 3 of them with rockets. and then they are in this narrow mindset "TAKE EASTERN DOCKS. RUSH THE FLAG." Because theyre listening to thier commanders stupid orders.

sometimes you actually want to sit back and not take a flag especially if you are playing with decent players, then you can use certain postions to your advantage instead of exposing yourselves running to a flag over and over again. there are times to attack and times not to attack and most of the time the commander doesnt know as well as the squad leaders the true situation.

The commander is an advisor that tells the team where enemies are and gives aid. He is not per se 'the commander'
