    "Scout" missiles can screw you if you don't hit anything. I've killed a quite a few people after they sent out a "scout" TV. When it hit the end, I spotted them and they saw me just in time for my missile to connect. Sure, if you know you're right next to the carrier and noone could be close enough to kill you, "scouts" could be ok. But I only do them before I take off, if at all.

      True missiles can give away your position. But it is up to the pilot to "feel" where the enemy is.

      Also I try to always know where the enemy chopper is, and if my gunner fires a scout ive moved location by the time his missile runs outa gas. If scout spots a helo I zero in on the direction and alter my range just staying outside his. If not I line up for another scout shot. (sometimes you can even hear the missile go boom boom just outside of my invisible bubble of presumed safety )
