Pay-to-Play is NOT a good idea... I don't know why anyone would think it is. Any server provider including MyIS would agree since it would pretty much put them out of business along with content providers,custom maps made by community players. A perfect example is WoW and how Blizzard pretty much does what they want with over used and laggy servers.

BF2 needs new content... they have already announced new content and support for bf2142 with the 1.50 patch but WTF EA!!! Why not support the game with the most players...even if you have advertising in it as Highway to hell did thats fine..at least its something new for Official play. If they would do away with the stats servers you might even see more players fooling around with Mods and custom maps again.

yeah really... I have no idea why they chose to update BF2142 over BF2. I honestly couldn't care less about in-game advertising. Although, seeing screenshots of BF2142 with "Intel Core2Extreme!" on billboards is REALLY lame, considering they're supposed to be 134 years into the future

There are also other examples for this. SWG is a good one. The devs nearly implement what the community wants and prefers, if you join them on the forums. Because of a community being very small there is very much communication between those two fronts.

It was a hyper mod, like BFV was for BF1942, they never get as many players.

Well at least BF:V was ****ing awesome.

I think as long as people still make awesome mods (Hello Project Reality ^__^) no matter what new games come out BF2 will still have its people

Vanilla BF2 is awesome too... i can't Get enough of it (i can but thats why i have different games :) but i always go back to BF2)

BF3 is coming out, and most of those things stated on the leaked .PDF are true as well. Just wait and see...

If I remember right, then by that pdf, BF3 is gonna be with fewer maps than BF2, one gamemode (guess which one), and higher system specs. Doesn`t seem very appealing.

It depends on what you mean by alive, some would say that 1942 is still alive.

I think it would be a bad move on EAs and dices part not to produce a BF3, if you look at it the game is really old, yet still going. Granted its beaten by COD4 currently but give it say 2-3 months and COD4 will be a ghost town, that game gets really old fast compared to BF.

When BF3 hits with next Gen-GFX, every1 will flock over to BF3, and slowly.. I mean slowly, the hardcore BF2 fans will become Medicore BF3 fans.

heh i thought BF2 was going to live forever as can be seen by my first post.. but since i got CoD4 for pc i dont really see myself ever playing bf2 again.. its a great game but compared to the graphics and gameplay in CoD4 it's got nothing.

And once u get used to the quickness in which CoD4 has to be played at, u find urself getting VERY sick of all the travel time in BF2, which i originally loved..

I got CoD4, and it was alright for a bit, but i went back to BF2, FH2 and PR. Couldn't get enough of the vehicles :)

yeah i do miss the little buggies they were fun to strap C4 to and do a terrorist attack >.<
