Secondly, setting off the alarm unzoomed doesn`t really make sense from a realism point of view.

I could be wrong though and in that case, no bawls.
Sure it does. You are still aiming at the tank, your just not looking trough the sights.

But don`t you like have to lock on, push some buttons, etc, irl, to make the thing work. I doubt a launcher, which is "turned off", will set the alarm off.
Imo, in BF2, Eryx and SRAW act like RPG`s when unzoomed. Only difference is that you can guide em. But when sighted, the whole laser-thingymagijigy starts to work.

If they would work as an RPG you shouldnt be able to guide them while unzoomed. But since you can, the whole laser-thingymagijigy obviously works and therefore sets off the alarm.

Considering the major differences between zoomed/unzoomed on other weapons, I wouldnt be surprised if the alarm trigger didnt go off.

I played a round on Jalalabad and discovered that:

                  1) Sometimes when your not scoped in the tanker pops smoke and moves.
                  2) Sometimes he just continues driving
                  3) Most ppl suck terrible at tanking in this game. Seriously, a couple times i was in the open and they still gave me time to fire 3 missiles to kill them

Medic is good because if you die someone else can pick up your kit and revive you immediately.

Very nice! You used live guinea pigs. AKA: NOOBS

Do you think people suck at tanking because the badge requirement for expert is 400 hours and so not appealing to the award whores out there?

By my past expierence if you want to be a good squad leader you should use any kit except sniper and engineer. Medics and support can provide their squad members ammo and health/no dieing which can help your squad take flags and stuff. Sniper is useless if you are going to take flags as a squad and so is engineer since it has no range (shotguns).

Although, as posted above the sniper can be a good idea to just sit back in a good position and be a spawn point for your squad members to take the flag but its not good if you are going to rush the flag and take out the enemies along the way.

I don`t think DICE coded AT to be so realistic that it counts all that.

Can two people on ts, vent, whatever, go and see if it does set the alarm of or not. I uninstalled BF2 a long time ago and can`t be asked to install it again.

Did some testing. Unzoomed shots indeed do trigger the alarm, but theres a specific reason why it was a common misconception that it didnt. The alarm is triggered only when the inner, smallest circle is on the tank enough to trigger the name tag. So even if you aim a little off the tank, the alarm isnt triggered.

The second you aim diectly at it with the smallest circle, alarm gets triggered.

Use this info to your advantage.

wow thanks for that info, makes me wish I still had my game installed as I love to ambush tanks as AT and that really would of helped out.
