Martyrdom is the greatest innovation ever! Sorry i dont have a "problem" with it. Sure i get caught by it every great ONCE in a while, but not often. Its not hard to train your self to avoid the man you just shot down.

But i do dig the OP's solution, it is sensible if its that much of an issue. The issue is avoiding the threat. I treat everyone as if they have it as a perk.

I guess I'm dumb and dumber. I use it from time-to-time and I get killed by it every so often.

It's good that leet scrubs like yourself are around to put us all in our place.

Otherwise, I might start to think too highly of myself and I'd rather be simple and humble than complex and proud.

OK, there are people that like it but the big majority don't.
I think we all know a certain game that went fubar cause the majority wanted some of the things in the gamen nerfed.

If marty gets nerfed, which it won`t as IW ain`t stupid, it will open the way for all sorts of nerfs which will take a lot from the game, hell, maybe even turn it into what BF2`s infantry gameplay is.

          Here`s what I think-
Juggernaut- more health? k, but you walk and run slower. After all, if such an unrealistic feature like marty (magic nades) can`t be in the game, so can`t be this.

Stopping power- BULLETS MAGICALLY DO MORE DAMAGE? NOT ON MY WATCH. I suggest an extra clip with armor piercing, super-bullets, but you have to switch mags between regular and super to use em. BUT BE CAREFUL, YOU HAVE ONLY ONE MAG OF THOSE SUPER MOFOS. REALISTIC? I THINK SO.

Marty is fine. Get killed by it? your fault. Don`t like the feature in general? boohoo, it`s in the game, get with it, and don`t bring realism into this.

^ I disagree. Very few games are perfect when released, and sometimes an issue doesn't pop up until a lot of people put in a lot of hours.

There are some complaints here and there about everything, as everybody has different tastes - that's normal. No one is saying that everything needs to be adjusted, nor would IW do so. Just because it has happened in other games, doesn't mean it would happen with COD4.

But on different COD4 forums across the web, the Martyrdom issue in particular comes up a lot and most comments do involve adjusting it (not removing it, but adjusting it). This seems to be a legitimate issue to many players that IW should spend some time looking at, and considering an adjustment. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

              Which, from this article:

"IGN: Have you noticed an imbalance or exploits in any of the perks?

Bowling: Everyone has their opinion on what's balanced and what is unbalanced. There are those perks that you feel like everyone is using and is dominating the battlefield. Based on community feedback, we always have people talking about Martyrdom. You have people saying, "Martyrdom is ridiculous. Every time you kill a guy you have to run backwards." We balance out Martyrdom so you can have Juggernaut and have a better chance of getting away. You have those fears from the community that there will be this uber class that will be eventually found. That if you have this weapon with this perk you're going to be unstoppable.

We track a lot of stats behind the scenes. We listen to the community feedback and then look at the stats and see, like, how many people are actually dying from Martyrdom. So far I haven't seen an uber class yet. I'm leaving the possibility open, because I have faith in our community to find [exploits]. If they find something, we're going to look at stats and tweak it if necessary.
              "

So they track it and everyone is complaining, but the stats are telling a different story.

IMHO, people want a nerf, thats it. As Ive said before, it will start out with one thing, then another, then another. Does it mean it will happen, no. Can it, sure. Anything is possible.

If there is a grenade timer issue, Im not opposed to tweaking that. I dont think anything else should be changed though.

And you can see from that article that IW takes a slower, more responsible approach, which is how it should be. I can't see them nerfing things left and right on a whim - collecting stats as they're doing is a smart approach. In time, if stats support a change, and people can make a good argument/constructive suggestion for a change, then it'll be made. And if not, it'll stay as-is.

The decision is IW's, but the community should still have the discussion and put their case forward.

Very true and thats why I respect that and think this is a good posting because of the dialogue transpiring here. As I am just stating my "fears" so to speak and want to be heard as well, as it seems my thoughts are in the minority (as the poll shows).

HEY, maybe someone could get one of those online petitions going???? There we go.

They assume everyone would use juggernaut if they get distressed over martyrdom.

The only reason why martyrdom is so debated is because of the "WTF" reasons of dying.. Such as, You killed a guy, you run forward and you instantly die as soon as you see the nade icon. No fight, no nothing. It's a computer automatically dropping a grenade for you, no work involved. Fair?

You don't see anyone complaining as much with stopping power, or deep impact, etc, because they are FAIR in a sense (You have just as much as an opportunity to kill them as they can kill you, because THEY control their gunfire). Even last stand is controllable, because you have to physically locate and fire at the guy who shot you. Is it debated as much as martyrdom? Nope. It would be if last stand comes with a computer assisted auto aimer.

Ah come on, you guys MUST admit, that when you don't even have enough time to pick it up and throw it elsewhere, something IS wrong? The fuse time is too short, to run away from it, or, to throw it. That is in my opinion, an imbalance.

That post made the most sense this far in the whole thread

The thing is that I very rarely get killed from martyrdom. When I do get killed from it, it's just because I happened to be running by, and just as I see the grenade danger indicator, boom I'm dead. What the hell? Doesn't feel very fair.

Martyrdom almost promotes dying which in it self is pretty sad...

And you can't teabag people! That alone is a reason to change martyrdom

I don't want this to turn into BF2 style nerfing of everything, I just want one tiny feature slightly altered and a big part of the community agrees with Repulse's proposal.

Hehe have a nice day ppl

It is fair as you have to give up other, more useful perks.
If marty gets even slightly changed, others will follow.

What stats are they collecting? There is no "master server" so a best-case that I find highly unlikely is them asking a whole bunch of GSP's to send in their .log files so they can see who did what with what and when. These .log files AFAIK do not contain data that would allow them to re-enact scenes, but would just be a huge list of weapons and perks used.

While IW might take a slower approach, you can be sure that once a Martyrdom nerf is successful that the whiners will move onto their next most-hated part of the game. My guess is that it will be Last Stand, the grenade launcher or the P90. Everyone will whine and whine about the next thing that is ruining the game. IW might be slow to act, but they will eventually give in b/c they already did it once.

The process repeats over and over and over. Eventually, the game has changed so much that the people who have been playing the longest get tired of having to relearn tactics and they stop playing. If you think I'm crazy then you should realize it's already happened in BF2.

                              To all the whiners:
For the good of the game, learn to not immediately run over the top of dead bodies. You won't get killed as much, everyone here won't have to listen to you whine and IW won't make any mistakes and ruin a great game. Thank you.
