Oh boy, i was wondering when a thread like this would show up. The AK in my opinion is the superior weapon in the game. This gun can drop people easily. First of all I'm not a bunny hopper, grenade spammer, p90 spray and prayer or any such noobness. I'm the kind of player that plays hardcore, with clan members against other clanners on any game mode.
Now I loved the g3 when I first was playing the game. and yes its still awesome and kicks ***, but the AK is very much like the g3, and better too.
So im going to start listing reasons why I LOVE the AK
1. It has the most thin iron sight of all the weapons, making it easy to tell when your gun is lined up on an enemy.
2. the tip of the iron sight is where the 1st shot always goes, making this gun just as deadly as sniper rifles. If you single fire this pretending it was a g3, each shot will go to the tip of the iron sight.
3. the recoil kicks straight up (like the g3!). yes the recoil kicks higher then the g3, but if you aim it you only need 1 or 2 shots in hardcore.
4. because of the recoil like the g3, it feels like an automatic g3, you just have to try and single fire with the AK to get the feeling of the g3. But you can fire the ak from your hip with confidence that you'll kill whats in front of you unlike the g3
5. I play bad guys most so the AK is fitting
6. I use it with stopping power and deep impact, that makes it nice and easy to get 1 shot kills in hardcore, all you gota do is line up that thin iron sight and click once!
7. You can get the AK with stopping power and deep impact at level 4 when you unlock 'Create Custom Class' and pwn all those 55's who think they are tough stuff. (i've never been called a hacker so many times)

AK47 is great, it's second to my sniper rifle...
First: I don't feel like an M4 Spamming Zubernub when using it.
Second: It takes more skill than most other guns, it's harder to spray with it.
Third: It does more damage than the M4
Fourth: It sounds sweetComment

AK is a decent weapon damage wise but the looks and sound just disgust me.
Honestly, CoD4 has the worst rendition of an Ak I`ve ever seen; the sound sucks, the model sucks, the colours suck and the overall feeling sucks. Damn, my fart has more oomph and crack in it than the piece of **** sound effect in CoD4. That`s the main reason I don`t use it.
This is where I have to give BF2 some credit for making one of the best looking and sounding Aks.Comment

The AK comes a close second in my list of guns, behind the RPD. I love the power of the AK, and the iron sight is very forgiving, and the recoil can play into your hand, aim low, recoil takes it up to chest/neck.
The only sad thing is the AK with a silencer loses damage, Well the minimum damage at least, which isn't nice, but I use it for my stealth kit anyway

I've used the AK before, but today... whoa. It's the perfect dolphin diving weapon, and it has brought a whole new lease of life to this game for me.
Officially now tied with M16 for my favourite weapon.

BF2 AK > CoD4 AK
Now on topic. The AK is one of my favorite guns for many of the reasons already outlined. The main factors for me though are versatility and power.
The M16 is a great med/long range gun, but it suffers in CQB. The AK on the other hand excels at CQB, can use short bursts effectively at medium range and once you learn how to tap off single shots (or just use the mouse wheel,) it's good at long range as well. With the M16, I only get 3 round burst.
The base damage of the AK is also top notch. Once I acquire a target, I want to drop him as quickly as possible. The base damage is also high enough that Stopping Power doesn't feel like a "required" perk. That leaves me a lot more versatility in what is arguably the most influential perk slot.Comment

After reading this thread i tried the AK47 again and it just clicked all of a sudden.
I have to say its now tied for my favourite weapon with the RPD and AK-74U for all the reasons stated in this thread.Comment

Love it mostly for the sheer power, along with Stopping Power it does a fantastic job at dropping anyone Close to Mid range.Comment

This is the kind of info I've been looking for.
The AK47 is the first weapon I went for challenges with and I haven't used it in quite awhile. Every time I try it now, I just can't get the hang of it. I suspect that I've gotten used to other ARs with different optimal engagement parameters. Read: I'm used to M16 and M14.
I also like to use Perks which modify my toon more than my weapon. What I mean is I'd rather use Juggernaut most often instead of Double Tap or Extreme Conditioning rather than Steady Aim. With the AK47, I'd probably go with Bandolier, Double Tap (or and Steady Aim.
So, I suppose I'll give it a try again. What we really need is the AK101...Comment
