I checked out these forums for the AUDIO TAB CTD Issue and found a post saying to go into My Computer>Control Panel>Device Manager and disabling every single audio device except your main audio card.. Which for me was the Audigy 2 ZS Primary Audio Device.

After that whala! I could get into the audio tab and start the game.. Im in the process of installed the 1.41 patch and FH2 again to see if all that is back in working order..
I have always had a prob with the EAX option with BF2,On my old rig for sound I ran a SoundBlaster audigy 2 card,on this rig I run the Evga NF 680 i A1 mobo with Realtek hd audio(onboard) and if i have EAX ticked I still get more crashes to desktop.

I would try playing with EAX on for a while, then off for a while.
(if what you did shows no change)

Good deal. I had a feeling it was the sound drivers. That's what I was having you check for when you were looking for the errors with bhsd.sys, I just didn't articulate it well. Glad it works.

With the audio stuff, I would bet that you would be safe by disabling everything under sound except the Realtek device. If you need the Tunebite for something (if ripping a CD, just use WMP or iTunes), or something screws up, just re-enable the Tunebite device. You can't really mess up too much by temporarily disabling the wrong sound device.
