I am baffled how there are zero messages in the event viewer. Surely there are some. Even if they don;t relate to BF2 they could be helpful in diagnosing the problem. Can you try checking again? At the top of the Event Viewer window, there will be an export button. Export the files to a text document and post it.

Did you try those dxdiag tests I mentioned in post #24?

My post got merged. But I did if you go to the top. And it passed. I will export in a sec. hold on.

Also when i get in the options menu in BF2 and click Audio it crashes,

Hey Man I just registered! I got the exact same problem. It crashes when I click to join multiplayer game, it crashes when the loading bar finishes when I create a game or do singleplayer.

It even crashes when I click on the Audio tab in options just like yours is.. what da heck? I didnt make any changes to my computer thought it just started doing things.. I ve been playing FH2 now all the sudden I start getting all these CTD

Ive even uunistalled and deleted everything and just installed a fresh copy of vanilla bf2. no patches still CTD's crap.. I duno what setting or what is causing this..

Do you have the new power supply and the 8800 installed yet?

I would guess that it has to do with your older graphic card. And 300W power supply is not much.
So what happens when you have the new hardware installed?

Nevermind about posting a bunch of logs. Look through the error logs on your computer. You will see a filename, usually some soft of .dll or .sys file that caused the error. See if "tbhsd.sys" is mentioned anywhere. Also try disabling all of your sound devices and unplugging your speakers if they are USB. See if BF2 works then, you can always play with sound once it is fixed. Just give this a try.

Can you post up what some of the problem filenames were? Someone might recognize some of them. If you don't want to do that, just google the filenames and you might come up with something. Even if it doesn't fix BF2, that is one way to make a more stable system in the long run.

On an aside, my q6700 and 8 gigs of ram is arriving tomorrow, along with some other goodies. I'm pumped.

I also had a lot problems for the last few months, I went crazy...
Had a lot CTDs and a lot of problems, but totalgamingnetwork helped me out.
I hope u guys get your problems fixed.

Since it started happening after you installed the ram, I would think that would be the problem. Also, try and run memtest on the memory to see if anything comes up.

Another idea, even though I don't think it matters, is since you have 2 512's and 1 1 gig, maybe if your motherboard is dual channel and you put a 1 gig and 512 in the same channel, that could mess it up. I'm not sure though. Try moving the ram around and see if it does anything.

And to the person saying ram might be the cause, I already did a mem test and took out the 1's and reverted to stock, still ctd'ed I think i'm going to jsut give fixing bf2 a break, although suggestions are still welcome.

I am also having the exact same problem as outlined in the very first post. Once I am in the multiplayer menu and I click on join server my system crashes to the desktop. If I select audio in the options it also CTD.

I tried to uploaded my dxdiag.txt file so you can have a look, but it's too big (67KB).

Try looking at event viewer. Click Start, click Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance, click Administrative Tools, and then double-click Event Viewer. There you will find some logs of system activity. The next time BF2 crashes, check the log and post what it says.

Where can I find the log for BF2? I mean in the event viewer there are a bunch of things listed on the left.

Is this what is meant by the Event in Event viewer? I hope this helps.

I think I may have found the solution!

I checked out these forums for the AUDIO TAB CTD Issue and found a post saying to go into My Computer>Control Panel>Device Manager and disabling every single audio device except your main audio card.. Which for me was the Audigy 2 ZS Primary Audio Device.

After that whala! I could get into the audio tab and start the game.. Im in the process of installed the 1.41 patch and FH2 again to see if all that is back in working order..
