Lay down in an open (grassy) area, not next to objects or commonly used paths. I've had people run right next to me, and I've even had another sniper from the other team lay down in-front of me after walking by me. The ghillie suit was meant to blend with the grass, not trees, walls, etc.
What's the point of the Ghillie Suit if you can't hide?

or how much you suck :pOriginally posted by alex98ukI have walked right past a sniper on the floor. He then got up, stabbed me from behind, and lay back down again.
Watching it on death cam was quite funny. Made me realise just how good the suits really are.Comment

I almost crapped my pants the other night when some dude melted right out of a pile of rubble next to me and tried to stab me. Luckily I saw him as I was turning and he missed, but I was truly startled. In fact, I think I took a break after that. I "knew' there was no one there... I was very wrong.
The ghillie suit works very well if you are just casually observing as opposed to hunting an enemy you know is present.Comment

I've just laid down in the grass near a choke point (on Downpour, although Pipeline and Overgrown work just as well), and had the entire enemy team walk right over me while I was a sniper. I didn't try and kill anyone though lol. Although if I find a loner with his back to me...
Many poor snipers and marksmen have suffered a terrible fate because of the ghillie suit.

I don't agree with you...All the hype surrounding the Ghillie suit was BS it seems.
Today I playing overgrown with a ghillie and a Dragunov. Got a few kills, great. Then I thought, "Hey it's a Ghillie Suit, why don't I blend in and hid in the grass and snipe from there?"
This is where the suit f41ls. If you lie prone in the grass you can't see squat! If you get up into a crouching position you can see and start shooting, but people can see you because your upper body and head are visible.
This sucks. I was hoping to snipe camoed in the grass where no one can see me but it turns out the grass is too tall to see anything. Also, the only map where the ghillie suit is helpful is Overgrown...
Does anyone agree with me?
I've had dozens of times enemies run right next to me, almost over me and once i had enemy sniper standing behind me and shooting someone, and no-one has noticed me until i try to knife them...
In overgrown, i usually prone in the grass and move foward that the grass blocks some of my view but not all. And if i need to shoot to the area what the grass blocks, i just move bit to the right or to the left.Comment

i almost **** my pants today while playing overgrown. my whole team was rushing that barn and i saw a sniper pop up from the grass by the car and knife someone then drop back down so i thought that it would be an easy kill. i run over there and look around for the damn sniper but cant find him and just as i turn around to leave, he jumps up and tries to stab me in the face, but because of my BF2 tested knife fighting skills, i dodge him and emtpy a clip of double-tap G36C into his ***. i then tea bagged him for a while. he scared me tough.Comment

This isn't video but still...
I was playing in OverGrown earlier, and i was prone in the grass near the "main" door at the barn. After things got bit too hot, i ran inside and hid in one of those dark corners, I don't know how many guys passed me in total but it was lot. I just gunned down people with my silenced handgun. After i ran out of pistol ammo i started shooting with SVD and then they noticed me...

Ever since I played hardcore I've developed sores and have an insatiable urge to itch my body, but never wash myself. Is that bad?
One time on downpour I had my M21 + silenced Muzi kit and spent the whole game in the grassy area near the two silos, by the wall with the hole in it. One guy stepped on me even, and got knifed. It was hardcore TDM, so no UAV cover hardly at all, and never having to respawn after a bomb defusal, etc. Ghillie suit made it all possible, just lay down, then pop up when you feel like checking for people.Comment
