@Troybob and anyone else with the same preception of things.

This was posted in the FH forums by one of the regulars, and it perfectly explains why FH has nothing to worry about.

    quote by HockeyWarrior2
Well, I understand what you are trying to say, and I think you're right about BF2, but wrong about FH2.

I think the gaming community will soon be leaving BF2 behind, simply because it's been out for a long time and people are probably eager to try new things (assuming there is a good replacement).

HOWEVER, what you seem to be totally blind to is that FH2 has a MASSIVE community. The fact that you can make this post 1 hour ago and already almost have 3 pages of replies is a testament to the community of FH2. You see, people will leave BF2, but the FH fans on and off of these forums won't.

If we all followed your logic, than the 3+ constantly nearly full 50+ player FH1 servers should not exist. But they do. Just remember, people are waiting for FH2 because it's FH, not because of it's engine.
I agree with this completely! Even if no one is playing BF2 at all, it will have little effect on FH2. Because FH2 isnt dependant on gaining a fanbase from BF2. It already has a massive fan base. With literally hundreds and hundreds of players.. Many who bought BF2, just to play FH alone. Many of the FH regulars have never even installed BF2 yet.

So whatever happens to BF2 is irrelevant to be honest. But, its good that you're concerned and all, though. It does however get frustrating trying to explain this over and over. Hopefully this clears up why many FH'ers arent worried, when outsiders claim "the end is near".

I know it sometimes seems, that you dont get enough attention by the dev team. Unfortunately we had to stop the updates, but maybe I can explain again, that this should not be aimed against our own gamers. FH is near being complete. Actually we discussed an open beta some time ago. So why didn't we do it? Several reasons, but one and the most important I think is the lesson we learned when releasing FH42. You know, it took long to get to a near-playable version of FH2. All the statics, the general design, the models and skins that needed to be far better than in our old game. If you put so much work into something you are really proud of, you want it to be near perfect when it meets a major audience. There are so many little things that can go wrong, every code in the game, every point of every animation. And our first release for BF42, 0.5, was a disaster. (some of you might remember) Mods that develope their work for 2 years and then release a 90% complete version will totally destroy your experience. Why have you waited 2 years to get a game that crashes when to many smoke grenades are fired or that puts you onto an uninspired 08/15 map? We want this release to be a little milestone for us.
I recently logged onto a server of FH42. At first I was a little suprised, that FH still has more players than most mods for BF2. And then I talked to the people on the servers. It felt good playing this. And hearing the people, that seemed to really care what we do - and just enjoyed the game. FH2 will have to be good to convince them. And it will have to be good to convince new players.
And we are more then willing to meet these two requirements.

But it's not only us. And I would like to thank you for your support. There is no real team and fans. We are a community. Forgotten Hope. And this evolved to be more than just a game and some players. Being FH gamer somehow binds you to the game and others. And luckily enough people are willing to take part in this. "Fans" become "Devs" or "Betatesters", and "Devs" choose to stay "Fans". But what really matters is our aim, to create a good game and a strong community. To give Forgotten Hope, this complex building, something it can stand on. We all are building this base.

      Long live Forgotten Hope.

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

            It was

            ESTIMATED

            that at

            THE VERY EARLIEST

            it MIGHT have a

SLIM chance of getting released this month. There's a difference between a release date announcement and an estimation by a beta tester (not a dev).

There are still some 50 known bugs that still need to be fixed. Then they have to test them all in every way possible...

Go to the real FH forums to find more:

              The BF1942 patches:
              v1.6
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...nt_Patch;23189

              Hotfix (1.61b)
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi..._to_161b;33702

I'm sure you downloaded all three parts of FH 0.7.
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...7_1_of_3;49588
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...7_2_of_3;49581
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/fi...7_3_of_3;49580
You probably already did, just checking.

FH fan mappack 6 (not necessary, but some servers will be playing these maps)
              http://battlefield2.filefront.com/file/;62701#Download

You probably just need the BF1942 hotfix.

that's why (imo) they shot themselves in the foot when they decided to not release something earlier. I understand they don't want any BF2 stuff in there when they release, but they should have put a content freeze on the first release a long time ago instead of waiting for a final release years down the road.

And you can compare the popularity of FH1 with the future popularity of FH2 but they are using different release schedules. FH1 was released like DC for bf1942 and it was successful. They are taking a big gamble waiting this long. And I'm not too proud to eat my words if I'm wrong.

                time will tell though

They did. If you find out how many DIFFERENT things from BF2 it has then you'll understand.

List of known weapons and vehicles in FH2. This is not to mention at all the coding and mapping involved (those take the longest).

Read this thread on the FH forums...

                  http://forums.filefront.com/fh-off-t...ctive-fh1.html

All of these people still play FH1 online. There are hundreds of people, maybe even thousands who bought BF2 soley for FH2, and have thus not installed BF2 yet. There are always at least 5 well run, populated servers up for FH1.

Hmmm last time I checked out the FH1 servers... they were all empty. *sad face*

                    Maybe... I'll... check again...?

All this constant 50+ player server stuff is exciting!

Pretty much all the FH servers, maybe a little more if I got the variables right.

They're usually almost full at around 3:00 to 7:00 PM Eastern Time. I still use the All Seeing Eye because you can pick out only FH servers easily.

After a while you get to understand when the ups and downs are of each server (some are based in different countries, so some are populated at different times).

I remember the good ol' days when I played FH2, its great fun. Kinda like the way BF1942 was supposed to be.

                                Might have to reinstall FH.

                                The order should be :
                                Battlefield 1942
                                Battlefield 1942 current patch (1.6)

                                Forgotten Hope 0.7 (1, 2, 3)
