Yeah a soloer is a teamplayer as long as he/she is killing the enemy attack helo, and armor. Any infantry killed is a bonus, but not at the expense of the aforementioned enemies.

KBK, I noticed the "silent lock on" and I think, in vBF2 terms, it would be a hell of an idea, but should only be implemented when it comes to jets, nt choppers. From one point, I wouldnt even like a single tone, but then again, not all people know how to leek behind.

This entire argument got out of hand. Chris came off as an elitist, and the people arguing with him came off as complete nut-suckers, baiting and provoking him when hes been on the defensive the entire time.

To Chris: People do have the right to the helicopter. So long as they make an effort to excel.

To everybody else attacking Chris: Chris has the right to his own opinion. Just like you guys do. The purpose of debate is to change a person's mind with logical argument, not libeling the opposition on subjects that don't relate to the actual argument. You people have been watching too many political debates.

There are people who will give the copilot a chance (to succeed or to fail) and then get rid of them or ditch the chopper depending on the outcome.
Then there are people who assume automatically that the copilot is not on the level of the skill demanded or simply want to fly without the gunner.

While many consider these people to be A- holes, they forget that by forcing thir inadequacy onto the people who will depend on them, they are effectively forcing the pilots/copilots to give up their own fun for the fun of the inadequate player.

So, in this case, they are all A-holes. The difference is that the A-hole in control will have his way while the other A-hole is left crying.

In order to be right in a situation, you shouldnt do anything wrong, and to be able to call the pilot who redlines an A-hole, you must first meet requirements because not only will he rely on you, 30 other players on your team will too.

So, if you want to call it a "right" to fly a chopper, you can be a selfish bastard, or you can practice in LAN, SP, or have fun in servers that are underpopulated and which have helicopters there for the taking. Or better yet, untick that damn "ranked" box and play in a modified server where helos are spawning en-masse.

To Dairuka: Anybody has the right to the helicopter. If people like Chris get in it first, good for them. If some noobs gets in it first, again good for them too, at least until they get shot down lol. And when they do, it's the same ballgame again. Is there a winner? Not really. That's why we have poll which showed that about same amount of people favor both of the opinions.
My final thought: Yes, I agree that soloing requires skill, and the soloer does good for the team, even though nobody can convince me that their concern about team work is their motive to solo. But what are you gonna do when the noobs get to the chopper first? Answer: Nothing. Just wait until they crash and hope you can get to it the next time before them so you can get your points. Or you can just get your points on the ground.

The reason I ditch a chopper when I'm forced to be paired up with somebody who is not up to snuff, is because I understand that people do have the right to take up space in the gunner's seat.

Of course, it's my right to bail out to find another helicopter when I'm paired with somebody who is not up to snuff. It's not my job to fly for them. I fly for fun, and if it's not fun for me. I don't do it.

We all earn these rights merely by buying Battlefield 2, and making an account. EA grants us these rights, by letting us play their game. Their Game. It's not our game in any way, even if we own a disc and have it installed on our computers.

Yes, Chris. It's unfair to those of us who are skilled enough to actually use the assets properly. It's also very unfair to the team who is now down an Attack Helicopter, due in part to one single person's complete incompetence. However, it's not up to us to decide what is fair and what is not fair in this game when the rules have already been set. I must say, that the rules are simple in BF2. It's first come, first serve. You have the right to be there, merely by getting there first. We are in the wrong, to deny that right, merely because of some abstract ideals like skill, or patronage.

Just because we're better players, doesn't give us the right to deny opportunities when somebody manages to steal a spot in our gunner's seat. Even if it is our right to simply not to fly for them. We can simply leave the helicopter at any time. That is our right.

However. At the same time. If we do manage to get a helicopter to ourselves. It's our right to choose NOT to pick up a gunner, and nobody can tell you different. Cry about team-spirit, or team-work all you want, but it is not against the rules for those of us who solo, to solo, so long as we don't break any other rules in our effort to get a helicopter all to ourselves.

Thats the law of First Come, First Serve.

Finally, regarding the original poll question, I have this to say:

A team-player who solos, is still a team-player. A lone-wolf who solos, is still a lone-wolf. The answer is in the intent and actions, not in the method. Duo's who base-rape TV Stations or carriers are hardly team players, even if they're working together. Theres more to a team of 32 than just two people.

Nope D, youre wrong. There are no laws, there are no rules. Its up to anyones personal ethics and moral to make the decision. I havent said its "right" to redline, ditch or TK anyone. I merely said that its one of those "pot calls kettle black" issues.

I agree with you there. I didn't say it wasn't unfair. These people are absolutely selfish, and they irk my nerves every time I'm forced to deal with them.

I did however say that it is their right to do it. It's as much their helicopter, as it is yours.

It's not our right to eject somebody from a helicopter just because they managed to steal the seat. Even if they do nothing with it. Even if theres no real way to truly enforce any rules against forced ejection, that still doesn't make it right, or mean that it's within our rights to do it.
