I forgot to ask, whats your video card and other PC specs? A crappy framerate is something seriously hinders even a good player.

Some people just have crazy hit reg, where you shoot them and see little bits of white dust (hit not registering) They'll shoot you with 2 bursts, get full hit reg and thus you die :p

well alex, shouldnt this game be fun? i dont htink i made myself clear, mainly cause i didnt think "play for fun" was so offensive, but what i meant was that is all some people think about, they wont go get a flag cause there "k/d" is getting a little low, so let some other noob get it, thats all i meant , i actually feel like i accomplished somehting when i get a medal cause i really tried to play the game as a game, i never meant the stats was a big bunch of shart, i just meant donnt make it your life in bf2, but if thats what you do thats your business, i think rolo would make up his mind what ever my opinon was, it was just an opinion , like yours , he will decide for himself.

i know one thing, i think you yourself was one of them alex, alot of peep saying or posting on this forum about being "bored " with bf2 & ready to quit. well wonder why. not too fun?

I feel your pain. I just bought AF, I consider myself pretty good at vanilla BF2, but I can't seem to stay alive longer than 30 seconds in AF. Mostly falling victim to heli whores. Grrr. Maybe it's just the average skill level is higher in the few AF servers still left?

I'm also with the "stats don't matter" camp. Honestly, and this is pretty judgemental on my part, if you're playing for numbers or little JPEG medals, you're playing for the wrong reason. I play to have fun. I'd rather be working in a good squad over VoIP with a mediocre score than running up a huge score by vehicle whoring or something similar.

                Re: sick of getting slaughtered!

Maybe consider joining a clan. I say that for a couple of reasons...

-The clan members will teach you. You will play with people on a daily basis and learn from them and you'll ask questions and get instructions.

-You will usually have a competent squad to play with. A skilled medic or two and a good squad leader means that your time spent dead will change for the better.

-You will likely use voice communication (TeamSpeak, Vent, RogerWilco) and this will help with keeping the squad together and accomplishing goals.

Other than that, it's just practice practice practice.

There isn't an epidemic of hackers (despite what you'd be tempted to think if you read the threads here), but you can avoid a lot of them by playing on Punksbusted.com servers that are using the master ban list. You can check if your favorite servers are running the MBL by entering their IP and port at www.punksbusted.com and checking their streaming status. If your favorite servers aren't using this list then get on their forums and ask them to start using it...the more members we get the fewer places the hackers have left to play. If they won't join, then find a different server because there are about 8300 busted hackers that you can avoid.

But really, practice practice practice. The game has been out a long time and people have had lots of time to learn the maps and the kits and how to predict the enemy movements. It takes time to learn these things.

Nah, i was getting bored of BF2, but then i started playing Karky IO, and now i have found the fun again!

And, i agree with what you say. Stats can be fun, but yes, don't play purely for them.

I know what you mean, as i think its the same with SF.
As when i first got it i could barely get 50M away from my spawn point w/o been mowed down, that and the fact that every rooftop was lined with snipers.
But in buying SF it raised my game and skill level and i came a much better player , now i can hold my own with four star genreals no problem.

As for being slaughtered, you just have to learn when to run away and when to engage the enemy. Most new people try and go into every firefight, and thus die quickly, a good player knows when he is out powered, and therefore will hide and set up some kind of ambush etc...
                      Exactly!

my kill death ratio still hasn't recovered :laugh::laugh:

I started by trying to play like CS and it doesn't work :salute:

Good suggestion, although you may not be recruited heavily in your present state of skills. Don't get discouraged, get smarter. Start right away by joining squads, the more in it the better. Watch the more skilled players... They work as group supporting and reviving each other, use cover to advance, rush the flag together to make it easier to take it quickly, and a lot more skills that you will find prolong your life considerably. Use this time to figure out your weapons, such as where to aim, when to fire prone, standing, or kneeling, how to throw 'nades accurately, etc...

Go into less-populated servers... less enemies = takes them longer to find & kill you.

The other comment about ambushing is spot on... there's no shame in hiding in corners til you get the advantage (unless your team needs flags)

When i started I spent a lot of time in armored vehicles. Even though they're a magnet for air attacks, the odds are that 50% of the time the pilots on your own team will be better than the enemy pilots so they'll protect you. And in a tank you have a lot less threats to worry about... i.e., easier learning curve.

Joining a squad is also excellent advice. It gives you a unique spawn point & an instant collection of guys guarding your ***. Just make sure the squad sticks together... if they're all over the map, it's no good, pick another.

                                Re: sick of getting slaughtered!

Being a new player and wanting some help, I have 3 things that are easy to remember and will help you. Dont worry none of them cost any money and dont involve cheating!

First spend a lot of time in a squad, when in game. You dont want to be the first person with the rest of the squad following you being the last or next to last is best for the new players. At the end of a round look and see which squad is the top squad and join the squad some of those people are in, theres a reason why they are the top. Second spend some time on unranked servers, say 5 or 10 rounds, useing the different kits, you wont get any points but you wont have all the deaths and such show up in your stats either. Third, look at your stats for each kit, take the top 2 and use those the most for the next few weeks, 4 or 5 weeks. Also you should try and use more than one kit every round. Wisely use the available cover ie. buildings, trees, walls, etc. And there is nothing wrong with running away from a fight that you cant win, just try and run toward friendly troops. That always helps. I guess thats more than 3 things but if you will follow these suggestions you will live longer. I believe that this should give you a good start. Good luck. . . . . . . . . . . . .Red
