I'd love to differ on my hard line stance of no-hacking for a respectable and commendable man such as your friend; however, even nice guys with disabilities shouldn't be admitted downloadable skill.

So he's supposed to either play and get slaughtered every time, or not play at all?? WTF is that? You not having a disability is like YOU using a hack to him. He's just evening the playing field and from me watching him play, it doesnt even do that, as he gets his arse handed to him ALOT.

No he will NEVER regain full eyesight in either eye, and the one he is totally blind in. And whats really sad is he doesnt have the reflexes as a normal person should, as there were other injuries due to that misfortune, like he has limited movement in his left arm and he says he has a constant ringing in his ears, although he says that has subsided some.

A lot of players out there without disabilities who don't have the time to invest in this game are using that same excuse.

While they aren't disabled; to give a disabled man a crutch to play what is in it's entirety a 'game', would mean that we'd have to give everybody who whined for whatever politically correct reason they can think of for that exact same crutch.

I condemn it officially, but unofficially; I'd just tell you not to bring it up. I don't know why you brought it up in the first place.

You're essentially saying that under certain circumstances; given the most tear-jerking heart-wrenching of situations that it's okay... barely okay... to allow someone to cheat?

That's the same crap that OJ pulled when he dragged his dead wife's name through the mud. There is no justification what-so-ever for what he did, yet he still squeaked through whatever crack he could find to give himself vindication and to clear his conscience. I refuse to allow cheaters of any kind, regardless of circumstances, even that small window of opportunity to keep their dirty conscience clear.

That is where the relation lies between the two, 'crimes.'

Unofficially, your friend is an exception to that rule; but officially I still condemn his use of a third party program. My heart goes out to the guy, but if I was an officiator of the EACS, I'd still hit the reset button if he was ever reported.

There are plenty of great X-box 360 FPS games out there that come equipped with auto-aim. He may also find solstice in trying out casual games like Civilization 4, or Real Time Strategy games.

If he doesn't want to change, thats great if he can adapt, more power to him for his strength and courage. However he shouldn't rely on a crutch to play the game for him, thats taking the easy way out. In essence, hes not doing anything but moving his character around and pushing a button to win, no aiming involved, no strategy involved, no awareness involved. He may as well play Mario Brothers.

Unofficially, your friend is a hero and he deserves respect for all hes done for your country. Yet again... Officially, it's still cheating no matter how you put it. His natural skill is being augmented by a third party program. He should either share his gum with the rest of the class, or leave it at home.

LOL, its very easy. Dairuka said it himself- its a crutch. But in this case the crutch is used literally. From the real world standpoint, Dairuka himself just admitted that the guy needs downloadable skills to aid in his fun. From a gamers point of view, hes being absolute and says either yay or nay. Basically, hes arguing for arguments sake.

I don't want to be mean, but certain disabilities just disable you from doing certain things. EA and punkbuster simply don't allow hacks for very good reason. So even if you're trying to use hacks for the greater good (being disabled) you'll eventually get busted anyways.

There are servers that allow you to do whatever, they're not ranked, but really what the hell is the point of rank anyways. Doesn't really mean anything to me. If you gotta use hacks, you can go to these places. But if someones using a hack to play around a disability, whos to measure whether he actually does have an advantage over me? Theres no way to measure this.

As for hacks, if you use them, I hate you.

I beg to differ, although its a rare occasion, I got a friend that hacks because he lost all vision in his left eye and partial vision in his right eye when he got hit with a shrapnel from a grenade over in Iraq. The way he explained it to me was that in order for him to keep playing the games he loved he has to use hacks because he cant tell friend from enemy and without an aimbot he cant hit the side of a building let alone a player. He uses a configurable hack that puts players name tag above the enemy and has his aimbot configured for aiming at the body of a player so he doesnt raise any suspicion. He says that with these configurations he is average at best and can be beaten by any seasoned veteran. He plays mostly UT2K4 and CS:S with a rare occasion playing BF2.

well Butler, if you read my original post about my friend, you would see he rarely plays BF2, his preferred game of choice is UT2K4, and there is no rank system in that game, he plays for his own enjoyment

It's already been stated that by him using these hacks it just turns him into the "Average Joe" and that any seasoned player owns him. IMO this case is fine, he's not going to win rounds because of how he plays and anyone that dies because of him probably wont think "Zomg hacker".

It's not a case of he's just too lazy to put the effort in to become as good as the best, it's the fact that no matter how much time he was to practise, he would only get marginally better.

Anyway this thread is pretty much going around in circles, probably best to let it die :nod:
