Sorry, can't help myself. Secondly, .308 != 7.62 NATO. The L96 is typically 7.62x51mm NATO. Also available in 7.62×67mm (.300 Magnum), 5.56x45 mm NATO, and .338 Lapua Magnum variants. The .338 is allegedly a monster.

Accuracy International also makes the AS50. That's a cool gun. BF2 could use on of those

but i mean it'll be better, its like really hard to kill people with sniper SOMETIMES, but i guess your right, but i still think 1 shot kill is better

but what is the dude is like 100 meters away, shoot them in head= THERE IS NO ZOOM ON SNIPER and finished with pistol=he is to far away

Do you mean there is no secondary zoom?
Pistols can only be rivaled, in accuaracy, by ERYX.
In other words, pistols are one of the most accurate weapon in the game.

OMG another noob sniper thread , well sniper guys , meet my M16 that headshots you snipers dead with one shot ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,love it.

Only time i play Sniper now is if a sqaud has taken me out close to a flagg , i respawn and run in on the flagg and lay both of my clays down and GET THE F OUT if i die at leadt my clays are good for another 30 seconds .

Its hilarious as I usauly get 4 kills with 2 clays and they say like WTF where did they come from ..Try it I call it the suicide claymore spam

i usually play sniper as a "Lone Wolf" actually, because my squad tend to give away my position

make a squad and lock it,then invite some savy players in :)

keep up with the sniping you only get better,remember if you keep you're distance you will survive longer :)

After watching a few of those videos I fancy giving the M95 a try again. I thought the L96 was my baby, but it looks like the M95 is good for the most damage and the ability to knock out air traffic (who deserve it :p)

Impressive due to the fact that M16A2 does 33 damage in this game, for headdshot that give trice the damage of a bodyshot, still not enough for a oneshot kill on a full health soldier.

And, the sniperrifles do kill with one shot. You just have to know where to aim.

that is actually a good idea - ty and you are 100% right about the keeping distance thing, its so easy to snipe people from long range while they know where you are and you both are facing each other prone, just one shot to head and YAY =D

correct me if im wrong - i may very well be =P

but dont all the snipers (excluding the semi-autos like SVD and the china one that i forget the name of) have the same damage - ie. the M24, L96 and the M95 all do the same damage to soldiers (95%), except the M95 has heli-glass penetration and better bullet drop compensation (not sure about this).

your right, the m95 does most damage, like 95% if my memory is right, the svd i *think is the weakest, sometimes take 3 or 4 body shots to bring someone down.

M95 is really a bad dude, i just favor the L96 cause i can hit 450M if no fog & of course they lay realll stilll:nod:

haha i like the end addition. i once got 2 running headshots in 2 shots one after the other, but never been able to do that again.

M95

The M95 is not the most accurate sniper rifle, nor is it the most damaging. It does have the ability to shoot through cockpit glass, and that may be the reason that some damage numbers for the weapon show higher than the M24, but in actual practice it does the same damage to a player as the M24, requiring two hits to the torso to kill (or one head shot)

Accuracy-wise, it is functionally the same as the SVD/Type 88, though the “bullet drop” factor at longer ranges may give the M95 an edge with longer shots. While bullet drop has been confirmed, no data on how this is applied is available.

The M95 is a solid choice for MEC/PLA snipers as an unlock, as it gives them more damage per shot than the standard sniper rifle, and can be a good choice for the USMC player as well, if the need for shooting aircraft crew is important. It should be noted, however, that hitting a moving helicopter or jet crewman with an M95 is extremely rare.

It does have a drawback at long ranges, the width of the crosshairs in the scope make it more difficult to line up head shots than any of the other sniper rifles.

M24

The M24 is the most accurate zoomed weapon in the game and tied for most damage per single shot with the M95. This accuracy and damage comes with a price; small ammo load and long cycle time between shots, and the need to re-zoom after every shot.

Try to aim for the head on stationary targets, since a head shot is an instant kill, unless you know the guy has been shot before, then aim for the chest. If your target is running, you’ll need to lead the target, and aim for the chest, you will be more likely to hit him than you will be if aiming for the head. Keep in mind this gun is bolt-action, meaning it will take time to retract and reinsert the bolt after firing. So make sure you take time to line up your shot and make it count the first time. You’ll have to take your eye away from the scope after firing, so you’ll also lose your track on the target. It is often worth making one M24 shot and then follow it with one pistol hit for a kill.

SVD/Type 88

The Snaiperskaya Vintovka Dragunova SVD (AKA the Dragunov) and Type 88 are functionally the same (though the zoom sight picture differs). They are very accurate weapons, but not as accurate or damaging as the M24, especially at longer ranges, though long range shots are still quite possible. Rapid-firing an SVD/Type 88 incurs very harsh accuracy and recoil penalties, (making them less accurate than an AK-47 after the second shot!) so it is best to pause a moment between each shot whenever possible.

It is possible to get a one-shot-to-the-head kill with either of these rifles, but it will take three shots to the torso to kill a full health player.

L96A1

The L96A1 is apt to become the most beloved sniper rifle in the assortment. While EA/DICE tries to sell their expansions as balanced with the original game, this gun is clearly a cut above the rest. Take together the best of the M24 and M95 and you’ll end up with the L96A1. It has the same firepower as the M24 and M95, these rifles will reduce the health with 95% of a full health soldier in a single shot. On top of that, the L96A1 is together with the M24 the most accurate weapon in the game. But it overpowers the M24 because of its load time which is equal to the M95.

It was rumoured that this gun would instant kill with one shot, but this is not true. It was supposedly the case while the 1.2 patch was in beta, just like the M95 and the M24, but for obvious reasons this was changed for the official release.

While the personal preference of a sniper will decide between the L96A1 and the M24, the L96A1 is clearly a better choice than the Type 88 or SVD. The M95? Well, ain’t it fun to shoot a non-expecting pilot out of his cockpit?
