Illusion has the right idea though.

The best way to run a server is to have a large clan. The best way to have a large clan, is to admit the douche-bags that couldn't hack it in other clans. There are lots of them, so you won't have any trouble picking them up. I suggest charging them money to join your clan, and if that doesn't work, extort them.

Also make sure to turn off any and all forms of Punkbuster. People are less willing to join if they know that their downloadable skill can get them banned.

Finally, publicly deny everything that was listed above for the sake of feeding your pathetic ego. People aren't willing to follow under a leader who admits to his faults - Look at American Politics if you require a real life example.

illusion, dont get me started on all the sh!t you did towards [CMx], you are a low life hacker, who can change his ip, and you download hacks, and statpadd on your own server, most of the players on your server are just afk privates.

wow, illusion doesnt have the right idea, he is just a attention whore who hacks and steals money from people to keep "his" statpadd server up.

Tell you what, pay me 15 bucks a month and then you can come in and post in the forums and I will stop spreading the truth about you and other DA members that are hackers. Hope you enjoy getting a litte tast of how people are treated on your server and why your are viewed as a pariah.

Re: What does it take to make a successful server?

the best advise i could give is get idlers. your going to need idlers and allot of them at first if you want to build your server into a powerhouse.

your also going to have to show allot of dedication and sit there in a empty room trying to fill it, your personal urge or desire too game is last on the list, filling your server is first witch requires patience and common sense. dont go crazy when theres only 8 people in the room and just own them up and down with a jet, your entire goal should be keeping people in that server and killing someone 3 or 4 times in a row usually sends them packing and your back to square one trying to get people in the server.

id say next should be one maybe two rules and nothing like limiting weapons or no bunny hoping, this just leaves room for another one of your admins to abuse the rule and people to grief and cry every time they get killed. of course the common sense rules apply, like no hacking or glitching but you dont have to list these rules, they are common sense. you also want your admins to be like ghosts, no threating people or citing rules constantly, you want ninja admins who can keep their mouth shut and deal with smacktards quietly.

you'll want to make sure you have a popular rotation combo or popular map, your server needs to provide something over the others for a player draw, all air maps or all infantry or FF off, something along those lines and most importantly something you enjoy.

it really all boils down to how dedicated you are in building the server and how much help you can get idling to build it up at first but once people see your server is fun or offers something they really enjoy youll start to see repeat players.

ohh and one small note, do not over whore your server on forums by begging people to come join, send you money or posting the ip all over, it just looks desperate. one or two of those are fine when you first start a server but dont overdo it.

                  I just dont get it.

FMJ and DA being in the TOP10, yet being worlds apart. My memories from FMJ have always been exceptional.

Just for the kicks and giggles, I went to read DA!s forums, and my god. People pay 15 bucks to have the right to play the game the way they see fit, while they could do the same in any non-administred server. You dont need to pay 15 bucks to be an ******* and feel proud of it.

We are exactly worlds apart...You have the FMJs and the TAs of the bf2 server world that let pretty much any noob into the server and let any noob do whatever they want which makes the admins(the guys that actually pay for the server) have a ****ty games at least half the time or more because a noob go in the chopper or jet...However at dA we ensure that the admins(the people that pay for the server enjoy a great game every game...We dont deal with noobles ruining game play ever...

If there was a "gamers hell" and "gamers heaven", guess where youd be? Of course youd probably be mistaken by the analogy and think I meant "as5holes heaven". You just dont see it, do you? Go to Moons, R2, FMJ, CL, any other respectable community/clan driven server/community and youll see how THEY threat their visitors and how you do. Unless theres MAJOR asskissing and e-blowjob´ing, you will treat every one of your visitors, aswell as members as trash. Not because you have paid 15 dollars, but because youve reserved the rights to be a twat at any given time you choose to be. DA! has zero respect from BF2 community- which is where it all lies. Most of DA! players are suckup kids, or the same community members who... wait, are also suckup kids!

You have the FMJs and the TAs of the bf2 server world that let pretty much any noob into the server and let any noob do whatever they want which makes the admins(the guys that actually pay for the server) have a ****ty games at least half the time or more because a noob go in the chopper or jet...
On the contrary. Running a respectable server doesnt require an admin to not to have fun. The difference is that when DA! member starts adminning, they get all b!tchy about not getting their share. When any other respected admin starts adminning, they just take care of the problem. That takes 5 seconds of their time, if less and the game proceeds. This saves the server population from a stupid chat-session, whining and whatnot, which you guys do enjoy. And if a n00b does get a jet, its a part of the GAME. Remember that its a "public" server. They are maintaining a server where, if a person logs in, they can have a genuine fun time. Your server, compared to that, is like a minefield- if you piss off another 14 year old punk, you will get your share of their whineage.

You know, theres arrogance on the community level- those communities have usually earned their bragging rights. Every community has their legends who indeed, generally can be arrogant because of what they do IN GAME. You are not one of those communities. If anything, you have amassed a bunch of kids who probably get beaten up in RL so they come into the internet and pester online gamers because "they can".

In some cases, this tendency can be witnessed amongst certain individuals. Youve given the worst kind of people to have the "rights" for such behaviour for 15 dollars. If it wasnt for your immeasurable ignorance, I would have aplauded you for ecomonical intelligence. Unfortunately you believe in an almost fanatical way, that your system works. And again, if anyone wants to PAY for what youre offering them, they are truly the lowest form of existence, intellectually first and foremost.

However at dA we ensure that the admins(the people that pay for the server enjoy a great game every game...We dont deal with noobles ruining game play ever...
Thats the thing really, isnt it? You dont kick noobles (only), you kick anyone, regardless of their skill level. So there goes your ONLY excuse.

dA! isn't exactly an example of a 'warm happy family'.

There are just as many former dA! members on the ban list as 'newbs'.

It's a shame they always delete all the public in-guild fights that go on their web-boards. It's actually pretty good reading.

Pay $15, and get banned anyways! Go team!

cool i just busted 2 smacktard DA members commander hacking a wake server, at first they were forcing tks from jets like crazy generally being total smacktards then after a bit of frustration they started the hacks, i knew it was them because watching the map the only people ever stopped and looking skyward when it started were these 2 fools, i told em off then the vehicles were getting spammed on my chopper (even tho we were higher than them) upon killing one or both it stopped, at least until they respawned. they never said a word (hackers never say anything for some reason) and their werent that many people on the server at the time.

here are the vehicles they attempted to drop on our chopper

here is one staring skyward in a nice private location

here is the score list, notice the DA members with alot of deaths as a result of tk forcing on jets

hard to tell here but notice the vehicles, then kamil tks him and it stops, IE no vehicle drop radion spam

...And you will rarely catch us outside our server.

                              Why?

...Because we have the best server in the world. Duh! :yay:

I love all the people that come on here and whine because we do whatever we want. You just don't realize that no matter what you say or do, It's not going to change our server or how we run it.

If you don't like us or our server, don't join it. If you're feeling immature enough to flame us on message boards, go for it. But I should let you know that it's pretty ****ing obvious that you're jealous of us. If you can't have it, you want to try to ruin it for those who can and do have it.
