And they're still in the clan.

So much for any semblance of credibility from dA!

Yeah, so he only cheated up to the #12 position on the ladder. So what? It's not as if he didn't ruin anybody else's fun in his pursuit of personal glory through unfair means.

Wait. He did? Oh, nice guy. He certainly is a great role model. Hes the Barry Bonds of BF2.

It's hard to follow ever evolving rules that can be twisted, mangled and distorted to fit even the most myopic vision. dA!'s rule set is not list of guidelines, but rather a bundle of excuses for their admins on that server to press a ban button on someone they don't like.

Thankfully I don't have to speak for myself, since there are hundreds of people who all have their own personal experiences with dA!'s poor administration.

Thank you, you have been most helpful. I shall refer to this thread every-time Illusion denies his shady past, and most likely shady present.

Gestapo was more of a reference to the stringent police actions taken by a totalitarian government. A comparison which I, as well as many others feel is very relevant to the current subject.

Ahh, here is the crux of the problem. You think we should divide up the clan so we fight each other for your benefit. We (dA!) member join the clan, in part, so we can play the game people we know and trust. We are not here to make the game more fun for you. We are here because we enjoy playing BF2 as a team.
We frequently move better players from our team to the other team. Again, if you do not believe that ask the nunya and xfi players. As far as your other allegations, if we are breaking the rules it should be relatively easy to prove. Feel free to do so. No, do not site old news.

Actually, he was #12. We are a ranked server so as far as I know it does. I wish I could be more informative but I know very little about computers. I play the game because my son had it and I wanted to make sure the online play and in-game communication was not being used in an inappropriate way. It was, so I found a clan that is fun and respectful to members.

I'll refer to my previous post: a majority of the banned players that post simply forget to put in the real reason why they were banned and then attack the person who banned them. If they were to come into my home and do that to my family it would not be tolerated and the consequences would be severe. Why should it be any different on our forums?

No, not all replies are well thought out. It's a work in progress. Neither are all the messages on this forum. Fix your home before you try to fix mine.

This has been an ongoing issue for the past year, if not more - we all know about the train accident that the dA! server is. We're just doing our part to make sure that other people know too.

your also going to have to show allot of dedication and sit there in a empty room trying to fill it, your personal urge or desire too game is last on the list, filling your server is first witch requires patience and common sense. dont go crazy when theres only 8 people in the room and just own them up and down with a jet, your entire goal should be keeping people in that server and killing someone 3 or 4 times in a row usually sends them packing and your back to square one trying to get people in the server.

id say next should be one maybe two rules and nothing like limiting weapons or no bunny hoping, this just leaves room for another one of your admins to abuse the rule and people to grief and cry every time they get killed. of course the common sense rules apply, like no hacking or glitching but you dont have to list these rules, they are common sense. you also want your admins to be like ghosts, no threating people or citing rules constantly, you want ninja admins who can keep their mouth shut and deal with smacktards quietly.

you'll want to make sure you have a popular rotation combo or popular map, your server needs to provide something over the others for a player draw, all air maps or all infantry or FF off, something along those lines and most importantly something you enjoy.

it really all boils down to how dedicated you are in building the server and how much help you can get idling to build it up at first but once people see your server is fun or offers something they really enjoy youll start to see repeat players.

ohh and one small note, do not over whore your server on forums by begging people to come join, send you money or posting the ip all over, it just looks desperate. one or two of those are fine when you first start a server but dont overdo it.
+1 Great advice. I'll add something else. Pick a good host to start with. Cheaper doesn't = better. You get what you pay for blah blah blah. We were ranked in the top 40 servers with only 50 players competing against 64 player servers so I think that was a fair effort. The reason is that if you pick a dud host and need to change and obviously change IP you go back to square 1, like we did and have to start all over again because it seems most people join by favourites or IP so it will appear to them your server no longer exists. Almost 2 years with the same IP, then we changed and lost a lot of business.

Its important to have a good quality server. Go dedicated if possible. That way you aren't sharing with anyone else and you can monitor your servers performance to ensure it doesn't get overloaded. A smooth, lag free game server will keep people coming back. The added benefit is you can run more than 1 server and its cheaper in the long run.

Server setup is crucial. VOIP must be working. Battlerecorder is also good to have if its setup correctly and can mean repeat business as very few servers have it working properly.

Stream your server to Punksbusted.com that way your players know you are serious about providing an "as cheat free as possible server".

Eventually enough people will join in, to make us vocal enough to either get EA to intervene and your server shut down, or to teach the helpless newbies to avoid your server all together. I like to stay away from servers where the admins have some stupid personl rules like no fighting commander etc. Commanders should definitely stay away from aircrafts but to be a commander and get kicked with the "no fighting commander" comment just because you are trying to defend a flag or defend yourself, that is plain ridiculous.
