Not sure, I've always wondered that myself. Also, why not on Gulf of Oman: that would be the perfect map for them.

Mobile AA is not underpowered, you just have to know where to position yourself and when to fire.

Stationary AA takes a little more effort to get kills with..

I like how you can see a jet/chopper, but not lock onto it.

Today a jet flew directly at my position and I sent the AA rockets, and they flew away from the jet. Now those are bad missiles that can't hit a target flying directly into them... Goes to show how much BF2 is a roll of the dice a lot of times.

While I agree the mobile AA is not as bad as the fix AA. The mobile AA needs a radar or something to get a lock beyond visual range. Or even to the edge of visual range. Nothing is more frustrating then seeing a jet yet not getting a lock. Mobile AA should keep pilots up at night.

they should of just given anti tank portable stingers along the lines of DC42 but pretty much AA is broken BF2 and its a big reason why in allot of ways BF42 was better

i beleive if there was no flares people would spam the AA turrets until some team mate or enemy shot them.

I can kill with stationary but you have to time the release of each of the two missles!

Not to mention the fact that on some maps (Dalian, Wake, Oman) pilots can easily snipe you with the MG before you even get a lock.

After playing so many "Good", "Realistic", games with planes in 'em.

I have to admit the Bf2 idea of things is BS.

If you get hit by an AIM9 (sidewinder)or Stinger , in a MiG29 the following might happen.

1- Plane is completely ****ed. You are dead, plane is in 10,000,000 pieces.

2-Your engine is blown, but you still have one to fly with, you're leaking fuel, you need to either kill the guy and/or land imediatly.

3- You've lost complete control of your plane, eject, but you're not dead.


Now in BF2.

Instead of that your plane just completely blows up.

So to make it more "balanced", as the flares do not work as good as real ones...they gota make it 3 time hit then dead.

But if they could just make you loose control of your plane and have to land, then it would be great and plans would get shot down but the pilot is not dead.

Ok what I think he thought Mobile AA was something you could pick up like a kit but its really the vehicles like linebackers that shoot AA missiles. He is fairly new his score is only 5,000 and he only has 40 posts
