Anti air is a joke and by the time the flares from the jet are cleard for you to fire they hav already strafed you and you know it.
Sometimes I think the reason it seems so weak it so that it's just a defense against choppers while you need you own jets to counter theirs so that having airpower emans something.
But I think Anti air should have some chance in shooting down a jet and the mobile AA should only lock when you tell it to, im sick of giving away my atatck by a stupid missles lock when I wish i could just ambush it with bullets.

the most balanced thing in battlefield 2 is the m16 and choppers..at least you can beat those.

We did have good AA once i think it was in the 1.21 patch but all the plane & chopper whores cried like **** about it because they weren't invincible anymore so it got nerfed again. The real ****er about it was even with the really good AA we had in the 1.21 patch elite pilots still couldn't be shoot down when they pulled some fancy maneuvers of.

The thing I never understood about people that complain about tanks/planes/choppers ect.... being to powerful. Do they really expect a common infantry soldier to be able to single handily shoot down a plane? Why else were they designed?

There are viable counters to tanks & hellis, but the only viable counter to a jet is another jet (and most pilots just fly around bombing the **** out of everything). And as most pilots are the scum of bf2 that like to redline, tk & get themselfs tk most normal people try to avoid that ****, thats probably why IO mode is so popular.

Seriously have you ever been on a server were maybe only 2 to 4 people are nice and happy and the other 60 people are miserable and the server goes from full to about the halfway mark ?. I can honestly say i've seen it happen many a time.

p.s. Since when did a jet in real life repair & rearm instantly by just flying acrossing the airfield in a couple of seconds i'll think you'll find thats a major part of the problem.

Well considering those missiles were notorious for being able to change direction by over 90 degrees (rarely to 180), going hyper on anything that's a heat source (fire a missile at a oil rig), and able to create a "zig-zag" effect, there is a point where you have to call missiles were overpowered : /

The AA positions suck, and the mobile AA is a beyatch to drive n use. Another bomb magnet.

BUT - using AA from the aircraft carriers, esp on Dalian, is well ard. Strangely, i got my Basic and Expert badges, AND my ribbon, in one sitting on that one. Double Yiis.

As has been mentioned before on this topic - an AA kit would well rock for the boys.

Would you like me to find you some videos to show what was wrong with 1.2 AA missiles? Oh and it was the bitching of GROUND FOLKS that got it nerfed. You guys suddenly couldnt handle the massive ammount of TKs that came with uber STA missiles once they started finding targets across the map when they flew through the maps. How about that acid burn?

I think both sides bitched. But, you are correct. There was much more TK'ing then: sometimes the missles appeared to fly right through your locked on target, go all the way across a map, then hit a friendly.

I wish the AA would be a tad better v.s. jets, but I don't think it's really over or under-powered. The mobile AA does need smoke dispensing capabilities though

Yeah, it was nice to see the reactions of people who were shocked in horror when they hit their own BHAWK and got a nice set of TKs that got them instantly banned from the server.
