You might wanna throw a handgrenade under the DPV/FAV. An empty vehicle will pop-up on the Grid/Radar. Especially when it is in an odd place you will draw attention, I always investigate when I see one. Most experienced snipers do to, because they know the sniping spots too :)
Well, the buggy will only be empty for the amount of time it takes to climb to the roof, look around, spot, plan a route, jump down, and walk back to the car, which is about a minute and a half max if you park near the ladder. If you're in a secluded area well away from the action, away from the obvious routes, it isn't very likely that a random piece of armor will be rolling by, but if it does, just pray that he blows your vehicle and drives away. Heck, if he sticks around, then at least you've succeeded in occupying enemy armor that would otherwise be mowing down countless numbers of your teammates.

Also, I've noticed that if you're in a jet, tank and some other vehicles, the minimap will zoom all the way out and does not show empty vehicles, only friendly vehicles and troops, spotted vehicles and troops, and friendly assets.

Of course, anything can happen. No one said there wasn't a little bit of risk involved in sniping. :p

I agree with the urban maps as a good beginning interface of practice. As stated in sniper guides, the likes of Karkand and Sharqi only give you up to a fog view of 200m and less. It is a good idea to snipe in these maps before moving on to a more broader open ground map.

Something I've learned from being a sniper:

"A static sniper is a dead sniper"

        Position - Aim - Fire - Move - Locate - Position - Aim - Fire - Move - etc etc

If you stay in one place the enemy are more than likely to spot you if you take more than one shot to kill. Stay on the move, making you a little git to find. To be honest, I'm not a sniper as much but that little tip still works even if your a different class.

        Try it, cheers.

If you are afraid of a sniper getting you then do the following, BACK UP BEHIND A BUSH.
less experienced snipers think that trees is all they need for cover, sometimes ill get in a bush and snipe, when i want to lay low i back up behind it so when a sniper looks his way all they sees is a bush instead of half of a sniper sticking out of a bush, also sometimes I use small inclines/hills as a sniping spot but only at range, ill inch up and snipe then back down so all they see is a...well...nothing.

One way to counter a sniper that is well hidden and can't even be found when the commander spots him out is to become squad leader and zoom in on the sniper and mark him with an attack order, then just drop a bomb on the image of the attack order in the same way you bomb the square/circle/triangle around a tank.

my K/D ratio is usually 15-20:4/5

If you move too much you will draw even more attention. If you try that stuff on maps like Wake and Dragon Valley you are as good as dead.

With experience in the Kit and on the Rifle you will know when to sit tight and when to move. Sometimes I am so focused that I can almost feel Artillery incoming and get out of the hotzone before it hits me. Guys that hooked up with me on TV2 - Dragon servers know what I am talking about :)

I allways crawl backwards from the front I was facing. Your profile stays the same that way till you are behind cover.

Get in a bobmer and bomb the scan then parachute into postion, and on maps like wake when im sniing from the periemeter of the airifeld i can move easiy, i just go down the slope so that i can move around the pereimeter from the low ground and I am therefore not seen

The best bit of advice, and im sorry if some1 already said this is to add a key as your secondery fire button. This means you dont miss ur shot by accidentely bumping the mouse when clicking. it works really well at long range give it a go.

Yeah an old tip but a very good one still :)

I have a Logitech MX3100 set and it included a special keyboard with an extra \ next to left Shift key on the right side (Shift \ Z X C ...). The Shift key has been shortened. I play with a Classic WASD setup so the \ is right next to it :)

It takes practice its trial and error mostly its not like rading a guide is going to make you the best sniper ever.

Sniping is a lot of Fun, but yeah it does have it's drawbacks, nothing more fun than seeing someone going down without realising where you are, that's the mark of a true sniper i reckon...
