There are just as many "hackers" (aka good players) in IO as there are in normal servers.

I'd happily play on normal servers if I could find some without clicking through 10 I/O servers for every 1 normal server. I/O needs artillery to break up the noob piles of people reviving each other over and over and staying in a group without advancing. If I can't find a good server within a couple minutes and all I see are I/O... I just quit out and don't play at all.

Hell, I don't even play vBF2 anymore. With Project Reality, POE2, and DCon, I got all the gaming goodness without the lame EA crap.

          Also, Forgotten Hope 2, :)

            I don't like IO personally, BF2 doesn't feel like BF2 without vehicles.

As an average pub player, I have always found normal BF2 to be extremely vehicle dependant. You basically couldnt do anything but snipe or run around laying mines if you were not in a vehicle. I/O brings the fun back into the game, I think. Its probably a different story for the comp. players, but for the average, everyday player, I think I/O is great for keeping BF2 popular.

I'm coming from a competition heavy background in Tribes 2, which is pretty much a dead game now. It didnt have nearly the amount of mods that BF2 has, but the mods provided the same effect as they do with BF2; keeps the game alive. Everyone has their favorite flavor of the game. Just because you play a certain mod doesnt mean you are any better/worse than someone who does not, IMO.

One more thing... the stat padder comments are just rediculous. The same things can be said of the vehicle whores in normal BF2. The only thing that comes of comments like that is resentment of part of the community and further alienating people from playing other mods. When you get down to it, the name of the game is kill or be killed, no matter what mod you are playing. I prefer a faster pace game which I/O brings to the table. Others prefer normal BF2 with all the vehicles. And then of course there is the 1 shot 1 kill mods out there with the 30+ sec. re-spawn time. To each his own is what I say. Enjoy the game, cuz thats what it is, a game.

Some of you guys need to try something other than Karkand IO. Believe me or not, but there are IO servers that don't have nade/claymore/medic/support whores on them. Just a matter of trying out other maps.

                  Re: I/O is great

As I said before, IO depends on the map. Most of the popular IO maps (Jala, Kark, and Sharqi) are full of statpadding medics using the G36E. But I will say this: There is no reason to hate the IO mode completely. Some maps are really, really fun with it. I have way more fun on Kubra with IO than with jets bombing me every 2.8 seconds...
