      ^^ For those who don't like IO, pease just sh*t *p, if you do not like it, then play on "normal servers". I think that covers it all, exept for one thing, I think that this thread is trying to convince people to play IO, so everyone leave everyone alone, personoly I play IO, but as I said above;

      It depends on the map.

IO is bad because it effectively makes 50% of the kits redundant. Sure you can atill play anti tank and use the weopons.....but the kit is called anti tank right?

Too much nadding, claymoring and spawn killing. IO is really good if you can C4 hop and put afew wrongs right.

No it doesn't, I can play ANY kit, and do you say engy is not long enough range, wow I guess the pistol no longer exists does it?

And AT, well, there is the giant tuby thing he carrys on his back...CQB the guns cant miss, and pistol fr "really" long range.

-So bassicaly I think it's so not true what you just said.

-----Simmy.UK please tell me why 50 percent of the kits are useless?------

If only you read what I said then I wouldn't have to repeat myself.

You can play anti tank and use weopons.....but the damn kit is called anti tank......and it's infantry only....there are no tanks to destroy. You can play engineer....but there are no vehicles to repair. These kits do not have roles anymore in IO. You may as well go medic and whore up some points.

              Re: I/O is great

when gameplay level gets higher, all kits except for medics become pretty much useless in IO .. at least in vanilla, there's still job for AT and engy, even if rest of the kits are pretty useless there as well. There's few exceptions in some maps and some situations though.

Anyway, I kind of like IO and deliberately visit the servers every now and then, it's fun practice in killing people, especially AT, and it plays well in 16 and some 32 maps. However, I feel that strategy, tactics and teamwork are way more limited than in vanilla. Not non-existant, but not so complicated and deep. But it's not like existance of chess reduces the fun and worth of checkers ?

                Re: I/O is great

Im prob play 1/4 of my time on I/O. But it gets old really really fast. You know what every class will be, you knwo the "hot spots", sometimes your team doesnt even advance they stay in "nooby-pad-mode" throwing nades and reviving one another.

I do like certain aspects of I/O...16 man. Its short, quick, and doesnt become redundant. Bigger maps become "Ok my squad of medics are gonna go this way".."OK we got that flag, on to the next one" revive, re-supply, nade away, shoot my 36E..yawn....

LOL no arty...I think people improvised with nade spam...give me arty over nade spam anyday.

Ill admit sometimes it can be a pain dealing with vehicles...Just yesterday I played about 10 rounds of basic Bf2, after those 10 rounds I thought about all my deaths and what they were from..Id say on average I die once by small arms fire for every 10-15 times I die from a vehicle...Theres times when I can go 5,6,7 rounds stright and think to myself "holy crap, I havent been actually killed by a gun this whole time" Yeah this sucks...but its Bf2, vehicles are the game. Tho I will say many many hours on Kark have given me a considerable edge when it comes to CQC.

Like I said its fun at certain times, but its basically a bastardized version of
BF2. And if it was a "I hate planes/Helis" arguement then why dont I see more Songhua and Mashtuur maps being played.
And if tanks, APC's and transports are such a problem..then you must really stink at Bf2....which Im guessing this argument is a favorite with guys who just keep spawning Sniper or Medic.

Wait did I already say that?

I hate to repost in this thread but i was just thinking to myself...

Alot of people I know who play since launch dispise I/O...as well with alot of you oldtimers on this forum.
Now a few friends that have tried and currently play Bf2 favor I/O mode.

Is that the general way it is? Is there more "new" players that favor it?
Just wondering if that the way it is or is that just a sense Ive gotten from friends and some of you.

I occassionally play IO and I've had this game since release. IO gets old quickly.

No matter what points we make in debate, Infantry Only will remain by EA's will alone.

This thread serves no purpose except to denounce achievements made by people who've played Infantry Only.

This is no different than the insults thrown towards the people who've made achievements in their Tanks, Helicopters or Jets.

Play fairly your own way, and shut up about how other people play fairly.

                            Why do I like I/O?

                            - Gameplay is more tactical. You have to rely on your squadmates more for success, and less on one or two tanks duking it out.

                            - Your death has more to do with your actions than just being unlucky. If you are getting killed in I/O you can move to a different place... but sometimes death just seems to follow you in a normal map (Arty, Air, etc.)

                            - Arty is gone. Arty itself was a great concept, but since Dice never really implemented it well, taking it out in I/O just made things better.

                            - It's a different game. Playing in vehicles can be fun. Playing without vehicles can be fun. Now we at least have a choice.

I haven't been in a 'normal' server in months... and I really haven't missed it.

Ready for the flame war- gentlemen, start your flames!!!!!!!

                            die

People in IO servers spam nades and bunny hop like crazy something that cant be done in the face of an m1a1 that is immune to your nade shower, with armored vehicles there is more teamwork as squadmates coordinate to outmanuver a tank or apc, and when i play vehicle servers, i NEVER drive a tank past the frontline unless im occasionally rushing to back flags to kill the stalemate( infantry support makes avoiding being c4ed a breeze, you last longer and the infantry ahead of you take out anti tank untis and damage the tanks/apcs you are engaging as well), i stay within my infantry support because i know how easy it is to hide and watch an apc/tank cap a flag and turn their turret in all directions looking out for spec ops, but once they face opposite me its just a short sprint to c4 them, ive also on MANY occasions saved a vehicle form being c4d also ill get a squad to get in an apc, and dismount as ordered and we stick CLOSE to the vehicle, the heavy anti infantry and anti tank support from an apc gives you a HUGE advantage which makes capping well defended flags to easy. this gets even easier when the person who is dedicated to driving the apc is the squad leader and is spawned as a medic, now as you take damage, just hide behind your apc to heal, if you die, you get to respawn in an armored vehicle so you wont die .07
seconds after you spawned from nade spams and stray bullets.

I take it upon myself as the person organzing this infantry/apc co-op to be the one the whore the engineer kit, I make it my job the repair the vehicle even under fire because dying and respawnign is better than losing your SL and the apc.

                              Re: I/O is great

OK I play ESU's two I/O servers and the constant complaint that I see is 'not enough medics' . That's right, there aren't enough of 'em.

I, for one, am a big medic. But I kill as much as I heal and revive. And what really grinds my gears is that half the time I'm the only medic in my squad.

Again, the big argument seems to be the nade spammers and stat padders. I still don't see how nade spammers are anything but great targets to take down from a flanking position... the negs out there apparently just can't bother to stand anywhere but where the nade spammers throw their nades. Well... after awhile that ends up being your fault, eh?

Oh and you neg-I/O guys are absolutely right... stat padders are only a problem on I/O servers. You guys certainly cracked the code on that one (note the dripping sarcasm?)

Oh and one last thing about tactics... check out my post on I/O tactics and then tell me there are none to have...

All I want to say is I needed 1200 points to reach LT General on Monday, it took 6 Rounds, and I played other classes than just Medic.

It was cheap and lame, I felt dirty afterward for doing it, but I knew Desert Conflict would be released this weekend, and I would stop playing in Ranked Servers.

I/O = No Challenge IMO, which = No fun, but yeah, great way to Rankup
