True. I despise IO city maps (Except maybe sharqi), but might I recommend Kubra Dam IO?

But yeah, IO Kark/Jalalalalalalalalalalabad both suck.

1200/6 = 200 points/round average. Yet your all time best round score is 199. Exaggerating a bit there? :)

On the topic, I can take I/O mode or leave it. I think it's better tactically when FF is on. I think the SF maps generally lend themselves to I/O better than the Vanilla maps.

Perhaps. But I've been playing since BF2 was released and personally don't mind IO. I have about a 50/50 mix of IO and vehicles, enjoying both.

Unfortunately with FF off you have people using the C4 as an elevator to the top floor of previously inaccessible buildings. This is clearly cheating.

Also, there are a lot of servers out there... meaning that you will likely find 10 I/O servers where the skill level is low amongst the players and scoring is, well... easy.

But there are the same types of 'normal' servers... really it comes down to finding a server where you feel you aren't getting whacked all the time, but also where you aren't the best. For me that's the ESU servers.

Oddly enough I look for players that communicate a great deal on the comms... those players more often than not are good players. Once in a squad with those types of players, the game becomes way more fun... vehicles or not.

            Why do I like I/O?

            - Gameplay is more tactical. You have to rely on your squadmates more for success, and less on one or two tanks duking it out.

            - Your death has more to do with your actions than just being unlucky. If you are getting killed in I/O you can move to a different place... but sometimes death just seems to follow you in a normal map (Arty, Air, etc.)

            - Arty is gone. Arty itself was a great concept, but since Dice never really implemented it well, taking it out in I/O just made things better.

            - It's a different game. Playing in vehicles can be fun. Playing without vehicles can be fun. Now we at least have a choice.

I haven't been in a 'normal' server in months... and I really haven't missed it.

Ready for the flame war- gentlemen, start your flames!!!!!!!
You make valid points, however the only fault with I/O is that any benefit you gain from having no artillery, tanks, jet bombs etc. killing you, is replaced by a constant hail of grenades.

If 80% of my deaths are caused by tanks, artillery and jet bombs in regular BF2, I guarantee you that 80% of my deaths are instead caused by grenade-tossing nubs in I/O.

All I have to console me is that the enemy took 3 nades to kill me, and I took 1 nade to kill 3 of them. I never spam nades, any I throw will usually account for a kill. Don't get me wrong, if someone wants to spam nades as part of their gameplay, all power to them. For me, I have more fun having firefights with the enemy, spamming nades is just boring.

For the record, I only play I/O once in awhile for something different. Sometimes some good long firefights can be had in I/O that would never happen in regular BF2 because artillery or jet bombs usually interrupt it.

I kind of have to disagree, I like I/O and everything but I find most of my deaths coming from gernades. Gernades are tactical but not when you keep resupplying them throwing them, it's not.

That's hardly cheating. Boosting with explosives has been staple in first person shooters since Quake, and it's hardly something devs would've overlooked.

Also, patches have fixed places reachable ONLY by boosting, but no effort has been done to remove boosting. Additionally, clipping into buildings is considered as cheating by EA, but no word about boosting, even though it's equally easy (or hard, how you want to look at it) to enforce.

You're right. There is no strategy employed with spamming nades. A player is just throwing them continuosly in a general area in hopes of getting a kill.

A true tactic is what I might do. Throw a nade at a second target (hopefully taking them out) while you shoot your gun at a second.

The funniest thing to do is to charge the nade spammer and laugh while they back up and keep trying to throw nades at you and you kill them.

I like IO, and always will.

Pure and simple, even if the nade whoring becomes too much.
                    Good points there, well done

I can't stand Karkand IO but Jala IO I like but only on one server and that is Zulu since some of my friends are in that clan I play there from time to time and have a good time other then that one server IO isn't my kinda thing. I like air maps over anything.
