Don't be f*cking hypocrites. How's that? Your personal pleasure comes at the detriment of your team and you say I'm selfish for taking the heli and doing a better job?

ROFLMAO. OK. Winning is all that counts and if I have to step on your toes to achieve that end, I will. Call me selfish if you want :)

Wow, there a ton of posts here over something that would seem to be very simple. You are free to your own opinion or sense of right and wrong and so are those that pay for and run a server. If you don't like their rules, don't play there! As long as their rules are in line with the standards that EA has set for a ranked server, the paying members have every right to run things as they see fit. If there rules are too out of line or simply not popular, people will stop showing up and a server without pubs will simply die before too long.
I am an admin for a clan server and the job can be a PIA! People get upset when you don't immediately respond to their own petty complaint. It is easy to see who has and has not been a server admin. It is nearly impossible to catch and respond to every breach of server rules, you can only hope to police it enough to maintain a civil and enjoyable atmosphere for the majority.
Never mind that an admin is also trying to play and enjoy the game as well.
Some of these rules are good ideas or at least have good intentions but are difficult to enforce with any consistancy. Our server does not preach the "wait in line" rule but instead encourage sportsmanship and fair play. If there is someone hogging planes or helocopters and not allowing others a chance, we will ask/warn them to cut it out and if they persist, send them on their way. Intentional TKs will be kicked period, no matter what the reason. We encourage squading up but do not force it however we do warn that when we must kick someone to make room for paying members, unsquaded players will go first! When deciding upon rules for a server you not only have to take into account what the membership would like but what will make for an enjoyable place for pubs, if the rules are inline with EA ranked server rules and maybe most importantly are the rules enforcable!:)
I do find the mind set that only "good" pilots deserve to be flying, a pretty narrow minded and selfish way of looking at things. How are the newer less experienced pilots going to get better if they are not given the opportunity to fly? I am pretty much a self imposed ground pounding armor type of player but I try to fly now and again to improve my skills. I am not a "terrible" pilot but there is usually a few much better pilots in the game. If I see that my flying is killing my teams chances to win, I will get out of the way and allow a better pilot to do the job but that does not mean I dont have the same right to fly as the next guy! :hmm:
Just a little sportsmanship and fair play goes along way to making the game fun for everyone.

there are no lines for stealing enemy stuff. Jeep into the airfield, slap some claymores down near the jet, run around wildly, steal it and fly away. line systems are Most fun indeed.

Good points [MOH] Coach, but some people won't read your post because they are incapable of reading for more than 15 seconds.

As long as the newer pilot is past the stage of crashing into mountains and ramming helicopters I'm ok with anybody flying. If they're having issues just getting around though, there's no way they should be flying in a live server. They should go into an empty one or play single player for a couple hours to get a handle on things.

I generally agree with most everything Coach said. I have also been a server admin, not on BF2 though. I rule with an iron fist, and kick without warning anybody who acts unsportsmanlike. Taunting opponents, gloating, bragging, whatever, gone. I've noticed if anything it doesn't cause servers to die, it causes them to grow because more mature players are attracted to servers without smacktards (I need to find a new word).

By the way coach, what's the IP of your server?

this is one of those ideas thats right up there with communism and....idk something else funny that doesnt work. its a great idea that wont ever work. i never cut the "line" at a spawn until someone cuts me - then its a tk-fest until i get kicked (my favorite is to put c4 on them wait till theyre about to get a kill and detonate). theres always gonna be noobs who just wanna fly and dont give a damn about anything else its bf2 we just gotta deal with it

My question is does warning/kicking people for Vehicle/Jet/Heli Whoring violate the ROE? Thanks in advance for your help!

I don't think so. It also depends on what you call 'whoring'.

Some call anyone who manages to survive an entire round in a tank/apc and killing everyone as being a 'whore'.

I call anyone a 'whore' who is in armor/chopper simply camping the respawn point(s) at a flag, and making no attempt to cap it. They are essentially 'milking' the respawns for cheap points. You know it - the apc camping the Hotel (karkand) spawn points, the chopper constantly circling blowing away anyone that spawns...

I understand it's in the game, and could either argue way if it's a valid tactic or not, but in general I still think it's 'whoring' because it takes no skill whatsoever to shoot someone in the back with an APC that has just spawned, and a little disoriented.

I deal with it, and spawn elsewhere if I have to , then come back to take the 'whore' out, but it doesn't make me any less pissed when I see someone doing that.

Now back to the original topic, dammit.
