Re: Server rules a little overboard

While many bases do have TOW's and AA sites for "DEFENCE" as you say, thePhotoShop is right, they are too easily targeted and destroyed.

The Phalanx cannons on the aircraft carrier should be non destroyable. Why? Because it's too easy to spawn rape the carriers. All you need are 2 semi decent pilots on the enemy team. One to patrol the water, one to patrol the flight deck and you can't get off the carriers.

The other things on land based uncaps are also too easily destroyed. Hell I've got like 5 hours in choppers (dedicated ground pounder) and I already know when and where to scrag the AA sites.

Personally I would have preferred it if an AA unlock was a MANPAD instead of another firearm. Imagine the look on a pilots face when he circle strafes TV station on Sharki and 26 missiles all climb out from the ground floor. Uh, bye bye.

Or the J-10's come streaking into the carrier in Dragon and not only is the flight deck obscured with Stinger missile smoke, there are missiles screaming in at him from the artillery near it as well.

Personally I don't like people who attack uncaps even on foot. While I have done it once in a while, I've also been on the receiving end more often, and I'm normally just returning the favour next round.

Spawn camping I'm 100% in agreement with, if you are trying to take out a flag. I happily spawn camp the spot by the missile launcher in Square on Karkand, or the two alley ways at Hotel. Simply because a badguy can spawn and lob a grenade and remove your entire capping party. I don't like people who simply drive up and down past those said spawn points with a tank, or APC, not even trying to take the flag.

    THOSE people annoy me.

Infiltrating the enemy base to detroy their fixed and air assets? Hell that sounds like a fun game.

What annoys me MORE is what happens like 90% of the time in Karkand. The American tanks will be in one street spawn camping, and the MEC tanks in the other, camping the USMC spawn, both just farming. Um hello guys, how about helping the guys without 12 " of Tank armour on them? So your fantastic K/D ratio takes a small hit, but we sure could use some help with that tank sitting 20 meters away from you.

I can't tell you how many times I'd log on a server and see my team completely boxed in, only to see the idiots doing the same bum rush of the closest enemy flag. I'd go solo and just run around the battle and get a key flag in less than a couple of minutes.

About 85% of the players don't care about team work or winning, its about points (like they mean anything), and pwning (even though they are to young to even know where that comes from).
Preventing other players from flying or spawning is raping, and is way too easy. You probably have no experience of BF2, since you basically tell us that "mature players baserape". Mature players, on the other hand, let the enemy up in the air so they can kill them there. Bombing and MGing them on the ground is weak, and just shows that you are in favour of getting points.

This is not real life. BF2 is not a military simulator.

This is a game. People play to compete. You can't compete if you're not given a chance to.

Special server rules are a crock IMO.

LMAO... No attacking carrier... while the carrier can attack you... wtf is that? This gives the USMC a big advantage.

The thing to do on those servers is make sure you are USMC and you will always have the advantage. My favorite thing to do is play Dragon Valley or Wake and be on the USMC team because the Chinese airfields are captureable bases. Just rape the crap out of them the whole game.

Compete? I don't play to compete. I play to have fun. Now, if EA would just shut down the ranking system, I'd have even MORE fun!

Sharqi is a perfect example where server rules can diminish gameplay.

We all know that MEC has one of the most devastating choppers on that map. Some dude was racking up kills with it, he was an excellent pilot btw. So me and my buddies (who are on US) try to come up with a way to stop MEC's air superiority. After many failed attempts to shoot this guy down using AA we decide to steal MEC's helo. After working our way into there base to await the choppers arrival, we were shortly kicked. Cause it turns out that we were not "allowed" in uncapables. Giving the MEC an unfair advantage from the inception. We werent base raping or anything. We were only trying to win the game.

I guess it reasons like what I stated above that makes me avoid vehicle servers all together now.

LoL, compete? You start off by preaching BF2 is only a game, but everyone plays it to compete? Way ta contradict yourself Dairuka.

I went into a Knives/pistols only server last nite with a TK account and came flying down the hill on karkand past the hotel in a LAV smothered in C4. Took out about 5 MEC soldier before blowing myself and another 4 up. But oh wait, that wasn't fair and I should be competing with the stat padders right? Lol, get the fu** out of here. I'm here to have fun and will utilize anyone or anything I can find as the medium to my entertainment

meh really a non-issue. they pay good money for those servers and they can make certain rules to their liking.

there are plenty of other servers out there, or you can always get a few friends together and go in on a server of your own.

Pubers should not complain about server rules go buy your own server if you have a problem with each of the 1,000 ranked servers.

If you are commander then you dont get points for playing.

I've come up across even worse server rules. No attack on uncap, no anti tank on infantry, no grenades, no jet whoring (by this they pretty much meant don't be good while in a jet), no claywhores (come one, that's how I get like half of my kills, I love booby trapping HMMWV's, and people get pissed pretty much just because I killed them).

Form a squad. 3 people spawn. The other 3 do not. 1 on each anti air and squad leader hides. This is so that j10's coming in have two targets attacking them. While they are busy with these, squad leader takes plane and bails on a flag (reactor towers on dalian, airfield if on wake). 3 who did'nt spawn do now.

Squad members in anti air are probably dead by this time so spawn on squad leader (suicide if needed to get there quicker) and join other three taking flag.

Now enemy jets have nowhere to reload (unless a supply drop was provided to them)

i try that a lot, but usually no one is smart enough to join my squad. they all want to fly the black hawk close to the ground. which never ever works.

i was banned from a gay little server called "alien anal probe" for "baserape"
because i was a spec ops blowing assets......and as i was leaving i was engaged by the enemy and i didnt let them kill me.....so they kicked me.....and i came back after 1 minute and asked why i was kicked, and they said i was baseraping......i told them i was spec ops blowing assetts....i was even in a squad named "spec ops", and Alien: [A51g]Flanders told me "shut up or your banned a$$hole, you were baseraping", even tho i was sepc ops, in a squad called "Spec Ops", i blew the commanders assets, and was on foot being attacked, there is no rule saying that i have to die.....

not only do they make up their own version of "no baserape" that contradicts the ROE and kills the gameplay, but the admins are rude pricks who abuse their powers and treat their guests like total crap.....berating and namecalling.......what a lousy server run by lousy children......dont go there

LMAO! yup been kicked from there before. Their admins can't be older than 13. Not to mention this is almost identical to why I was kicked last week from the R2 server. Except for I had to bail from my jet, landed at the enemy airfield and was defending myself from 3 hostiles trying to take me out.

You try to make it sound as if gaming, and competition are mutually exclusive from one another.

The only way to make a game fun for most, is to make it competitive for all. Afterall, you wouldn't have fun, if you weren't given a chance to compete with other people, would you?

Online gaming itself was based on the premise of competition, because Artificial Intelligence was boring today's modern gamers due to it's lack of challenge, and ease of predicatability.

That is why BF2 is a multiplayered game, and not a single playered one. The statistics is just BF2's way of adding an extra realm of competition to the game, by giving more goals for players to aspire for.

It's just a shame that there are many Barry Bonds wannabes who would turn BF2 into baseball, by bringing their unfair steroids (aimbots) into our beloved BF2.
