    Server rules a little overboard

I have been wanting to post this for some time. I dont really want to start any flames or anything but I have to get this off of my chest.
I think that I have set a new record for bieng kicked and banned from servers. I believe that in one day I was kicked and banned from over 22 of them.
I served in the military for 14 years with the NSO community. During time's of confilict we were usually given the task of HRO (Hostage Rescue Operation) or Airfield Neutralization, the latter bieng the most common. So as I play BF2 I try to employ the same task. One of the things that I need to have happen for my team to win the round is establish Air supperiority. The one sure way to do that is to keep the other teams planes and attack helo's on the ground.
But!! Server admins and the general population of 12 year old players, cannot stand this tactic as I effectively take away the one aspect of the game that adolecents absolutely cannot live without, flight! There are so many rules on serers anymore that state "no attacking uncaps" that it makes it nearly impossible to successfully dominate a map. Usually after bieng warned about destroying the planes or neutralizing the attack chopper as they sit on the airfield, I challenge the rule and this is what I get. "If you want to destroy the planes then be a man and get in one and fight us in the air!"
You have got to be kidding me, why would I want to dog fight in the air when I can establish air superiority and work on supporting my ground troops, which is what air power is for in the first place.
Now I am 38 years old, and I realize this is just a game, and I can always go and find a server with no rules and play in that, and I usually do (usually because I have been banned from all the others anyway... lol) But my question to everyone is Why cant people deal with the threat on the battlefield rather than just kicking the threat from the server?
Like I said I dont mean to start the flaming but this is something that has bothered me about this game for some time now. So without further ado I will let the flames start now.

Though your tactic is a good one it can turn the game into a one sided rape fest. allthough it may be fun for you people on the other team get nowhere and are constantly gettting killed making it difficult for them to play the game.

Its a game it does not really matter who wins or loses and you can still win without raping their main base. Its like kicking someone when they are down at least give thema chance to get in the air esspecialy if your a j-10 pilot.

IMO you dont need to "suucesfully dominate the map" in order to enjoy the game.

That is a rule that the server administrators can decide to put in use or not. It's a game from dice, what do you expect?

I agree with you 100% I after reading some of the other post in this forum I have to say that this group of guys is one of the more mature group that I have encountered.
I also understand that if a server allows me to base rape like that then it is only a matter of time before all the 12 year old kids on my side waltz into the airbase with a tank or something and start killing off soldiers as they spawn, which is a tactic that I do not support and will not do myself.

Server rules are getting a bit out of hand, I actually came accross one the other day, and I am not kidding with this although I believe (at least hope) that they were.
"Obey all server rules. Respect other players especially the =OBC= tagged. If you are on the opposite time from our clan, shooting back will get you kicked/banned!!"

Best way to put it is:

          Real life = unfair
BF2 with those rules = fair as possible

Just play on decent servers, I have never found baserape to be a problem on any baserape allowed server, unless the team is full of utter f*ckwits who wait for the chopper/jet the whole round, anyway. In that case, the round lasts best of 5 minutes and ends something like 280-0, so I team-switch.

I hope that's a joke, because that descends into levels of pussification women are jealous of.

Your tactics would work in real life, where the opposing country doesn't yell "cheater, stop raping us" at you.

But in Battlefield 2, your tactics are unfair and should be avoided. Try following the server's rules instead of using your own tactics. "Dominating" a map has never, and will never, be the idea with BF2.

Just go to servers that allow it, people just cannot stand using teamwork to get your chopper back up in the air, so they whine and yell "OMG BASERAPE" over it. Its 100% legit, and I really don't understand why 90% of servers kick for it.

much agreed i think you should be able to take out enemy air support with out running the risk of being banned.

i totally agree with you devon, if one person is skilled enough to help their team out by limiting the enemy's use of air assets, so be it.

it is mostly the youngsters that are the complainers, and older people don't get as angry as they do. Its just a game, that being said there is skill involved, and skill should not be controlled just so others can get off the ground. It's only the dumb people that spawn 8 times only to get killed trying to take off in a jet. GO GROUNDPOUND, it helps your team out more anyway. Capping flags = winning. It only takes one good squad that exclusively caps flags to win.

seriously though, i dont bother keeping track of the rules anymore, i find myself not attacking uncaps, just so i don't have to deal with getting kicked. Plus, unless your playing moongamers gulf of oman, theres always plenty of things to bomb.

Heh well I'm 36, I've never served in the military, and its really just basic common sense.

The issue is that most kids don't think that way, and the more mature dedicated pilots ONLY want to fly. Winning the game doesn't even register with them.

I can't tell you how many times I'd log on a server and see my team completely boxed in, only to see the idiots doing the same bum rush of the closest enemy flag. I'd go solo and just run around the battle and get a key flag in less than a couple of minutes.

About 85% of the players don't care about team work or winning, its about points (like they mean anything), and pwning (even though they are to young to even know where that comes from).

YOu can use as much team work as you want but the bomb from the j-10 will still land in your boat or the missle from the j-10 will still blow up your chooper on the ground. It is about impossible to get off teh carrier with both AA guns destroyed and constant J-10 and artilery coming in.

Actually getting offf the carrier is very easy. It just requires teamwork.

Form a squad. 3 people spawn. The other 3 do not. 1 on each anti air and squad leader hides. This is so that j10's coming in have two targets attacking them. While they are busy with these, squad leader takes plane and bails on a flag (reactor towers on dalian, airfield if on wake). 3 who did'nt spawn do now.

Squad members in anti air are probably dead by this time so spawn on squad leader (suicide if needed to get there quicker) and join other three taking flag.

Now enemy jets have nowhere to reload (unless a supply drop was provided to them)

If you got in that predicament, then you deserve it.

I don't like base raping too much. It's just too easy. I would rather the enemy come to me, and then I blow them to pieces.

Come to TA wake island madness... 64 player base raping extravaganza! I rape the airfield allll round long if I can :)

No rules other than the obvious.
