Exactly. That's pretty much what stats are good for... for feedback.. in any game. Stats in Counterstrike confirmed I seem to shoot people in the left shoulder or left hip (because of my strafing and their's in response). It was interesting to get that feedback, and adjust a bit to compensate for my 'leftness' lol.

I still tend to shoot people in BF2 in the knees and balls. I have no idea why I always do this, so sometimes it takes me more bullets...

This is sort of offtopic, but I think you hit left hips, hands and shoulders in CS more because of firing animations.. I mean, if it was due to strafing, then you should hit right side as much as well, since you (probably :)) strafe both left and right. At least in DoD, left hand is the far most hit location, because when your target is firing, his left hand blocks the chest almost every time

But, some maps could be shaped in a way that you actually do end up engaging most of your targets from left. Or right. Which maps and which teams you play could have a lot to do where your hits concentrate in long run.

Also, there was stuff like irregularities in cl_bobcycle, player viewpoint was always a bit left when compared to model, which could affect which bodypart you hit the most (one player sees the other first when moving from around the corner)

My point is (which is somewhat back in topic :)), that reading stats is pretty damn hard, and even when looking at your OWN stats, you can make wrong conclucions if you don't know everything - including stuff you need to know as well as useless details.

If you usually play air maps eg dalian plant, zatar wetlands etc etc, then normally your SPM will be lower than say a medic who point whores on karkand.

SPM alone is not an indicator of a good player.

You need to look at what kits the player uses. What are good stats for those kits? Kill death ratio for weopons. Time in vehicles. Time playing commander. Which maps that player spends most time on.

The k/d ratio for the assault gun, imo, is a very good place to start when working out how skilled a player is.

yep, i find it good to work our the percentage of time spent by the person in vehicles compared to the total time, before looking at SPM, k/d etc

also simmy good playing with you yesterday on EA UK killing fields :) (if it was you)

That's pretty much it, but city slickers have higher SPMs on average than normal/air map aficionados.

To answer the original question, though: I don't care much to have good "weapon" ratios because I don't spend time on the ground. I'd rather be in a vehicle that makes a real difference

                        Play IO.

You'll either do very well, or get raped.

Why play IO in a multi-vehicle game? You might as well play Counter-Strike Source if all you're good at is using firearms in what ends up being two-dimensional play... boring.

This coming from a guy who couldnt fight his way out of a wet paper bag unless he has a vehicle. Go away, you talk about people who like IO are one dimensional, yet all you can do is use a helo or some other vehicle Its attitudes like yours that make people want to play IO. I love all vehicles, but hate egos, which is why I have given up on vehicle servers. IO is much more enjoyable for me, people just play the game.

I could very well play IO, but the ground fighting doesn't attract me: seriously, I might as well play a better implementation vis-a-vis CS. :mamoru:

I choose to ignore ground fighting despite knowing that I could outperform you, not because I lack the ability... but rather because it's of no interest to me. Enjoy the "mini" game...

I think my K/D ratio is like 0.9... But I don't play this game for the stats.
I play for the same reason I play Gears of War, Coz it's a mad game.

Gears of War is the best 3rd person shooter in the world!!!!!!!!!!
