Simply enough, if a person doesn't have a greater than 1 K/D ratio with Infantry Weapons, I refuse to respect them, irregardless of circumstances or their other stats.

If you're useless with a gun, then you're useless without your chosen vehicle.

If you're useless with a gun and a vehicle. Well then you're just plain useless; Stick to the shock paddles.

Versatility means more to me than anything.

I disagree, SPM is definately NOT an indicator of skill all by itself. A bunny hopping medic can run around like an idiot on Karkand and amass huge points and a high SPM, but a low KDR, that is definately not skill. A combination of all high KDR, SPM and Accuracy is a better indication.

Volx has a high SPM, but all the guy does is spam ammo packs throw nades and flop all over with his macros, does that make him skilled?

I have over 1:1 KDR with all infantry weapons, even the defibs, but my SPM isnt that great, but, I would take my skill over a point whores anytime.

What about us point whores, who do nothing but kill the enemy and capture flags?

Re: How does it feel to have a k/d ratio < 1?

when I first started my k/d was something like .25, thats 1 kill for every 4 deaths and Ive been doin alot better lately having rounds like 40-5 and 52-3 and its taken a loooong time to get it up over 1 where its at now, so k/d ration has nothing to do with skill because we all get better over time

I sometimes wonder what my k/d ratio would be if I started over, Id probably be around 4:1

Honestly I would not be happy with myself if I had a lower than 1 KDR. If your KDR is that low, then you are doing something wrong. You need to change your style of play and stop getting killed.

Stats may mean nothing, but I am hell bent to get my KDR better than 1:1.

As of today I have 9005 kills, to 9601 deaths (KDR of 0.9371), so I should make my goal within the next month.

I'm quite sure my recent KDR is closer to 3 or 4 : 1.

when everyone starts out they pretty much have a really low kdr.... just over time it leans over to the other side. I dont think accuracy determines skill, i shoot stuff that just isnt the enemy to kill time walking, waiting for the enemy to cap flag etc. And for supports, they probably have a low accuracy % because you just spam bullets with that gun, but carbines and assault rifles, people make every bullet count. Thats why my accuracy is low, because i used to always play support, and i shoot birds.

SPM is nice but it usually indicates what map you play rather than your skill level. SPM on city maps will usually be at least double or triple that of someone who plays on other maps, not to mention IO on which it should be even higher.
The only way you can judge a person's skill is by looking at all the stats as a whole instead of looking at just one thing.

                      my stats suck... BAD

why? because i suck at the game... do i care.......... nope..

I like to drink beer and play this game drunk.. i like to foot it untill i run into stuff to shoot... sometimes i shoot it.. sometimes it shoots me... thats kinda how it goes.

besides.. i could not get a good rank if i tried.. my pal playes my games with me.. we get drunk together and take turns seeing who can die the most.

                        2.47 Spec Ops

                        hehe

I say judge after you have a round against or with them.

thats about the long and short of it

however....a k/d over 1 means that at least you took more of the other teams tickets than you gave back (revives aside that is), so you were of use to your team in that round

thats all i ask of my teammates really, you do the basics well and leave the fancy stuff to me !!!!

This thread kind of sums it all up. You know when you get a hotel in monopoly it's not real right?

If you lose most games you play you are by definition a loser.

I love how over half of the people responding aren't even answering the question posted...

He didn't ask "what's your leet K/D ratio?" or "Is your K/D ratio over 1?"

Regardless (irregardless=not a word), there are so many factors that contribute to a K/D ratio, SPM, W/L ratio that it is basically a useless comparison. I can't tell you the number of games I've played where no one was commanding (or poorly commanding), or the horrid, and I mean appaulingly horrid, teams on which I've been.

One squad can't win the game when the rest of the team sits in the uncap trying to snipe their way to victory. Last I checked, this isn't a frag-based FPS. It's about tactics and teamwork.

But the real point is that the stats determine almost nothing about a player. The only thing I use stats for is to see whether I'm improving or degrading in my playing.

When I review clan applicants, I check their entire stats to get a sense of what kind of player they are. K/D, SPM, W/L and CP teamwork scores are what I consider the most important. But, you can't really judge a person until you've played with them for a little while.

I maintain a K/D of over 2 in all classes but AT.
