Thanks for those answers Mobb. I'm not gonna be on until Friday though, but I'll look for you this weekend! Hopefully I can learn something from playing with you and that Air Combat Medal may yet be mine =D

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

hey just thought I would post a tid bit of advice for the noobie jsers out there.

Turns are your best friend in a dog fight- learn the jet your flying, but for the most part remember to conserve your afterburners for when that red lock icon flashes when it does and its not an AA gun Slam your burners and get into a "high G" turn well not really but what i mean is a very sharp turn your after burners will help you U out of just about any missile lock (unless the jet with a lock on you happens to be a j10 and your in anything other than a j10 or f18)
Some times the missile does make the turn its random but it does happen how ever doing these turns will prevent further missile lock from the enemy pilot if he gives chase. If he does and you get into a turning fight use your afterburners to slowly out turn him to the point where he is on the complete oposite side of the circle you two have been flying then its up to you your options from there are keep trying to gain on him in the turn although once they realize what your doing they will start trying to counter it or you can try to climb ect to avoid the fight or get a better angle on the enemy.

Altitude: Ok this has been bugging me for a while. all you guys who fly around at 50 feet. bad idea stupid idea horrible stupid bad idea (unless your avoiding an aa) Jets can fly for a reason they arent choppers with AA missiles. Fly high use altitude to mask you from AA and other pilots stick as I believe was stated before around 300-350 feet this will save you a lot of trouble and it makes it harder for an enemy plane to get a dive path on you(Ideal for a kill)

Avoiding AA when ground pounding: Now flying low is going to be what you want to do. after or before a strafe when you get an AA lock on you and your afraid its going to demolish you. Break off your strafe ((you dont want to die and you can always make a second pass)) Now look in front of you. hills building trees anything that will break that lock is your friend fly over it and get behind it. this will quickly get the lock off you and hopefully by the time you have to go up to dodge somthing you will be out of the AAs range. A similar strategy can be adopted for carrier raping ect. just use the carrier its self for cover when you have droped your bombs blah blah blah

Its not a specific as it probably should be and it might not work with keyboard /mouse but for me with the X52 these are the strategys that keep me alive and killing.

Also have a quick question for you guys, have you noticed the bombers out climb the fighters especially in gulf of oman it seems like when ever im on the SU's *** and he breaks into a climb he out runs me even when im juicing my afterburners he beats me to 500 feet every time by a big margine.

        Answer to Jay C

Jay c it depends on if you want to drop bombs on. I use the dual bomb drop method because I prioritize tanks with bombs or neutral flags. Tanks take two bombs to kill and I dont like having to make two passes on them so, that being said I strafe all other targets, even apcs. Apcs go up like roman candles from a steady stream of fire from the cannon on the aircraft, moreso from bombers. I have found for some reason the nose cannon on the Bombers is stronger than the cannon on the fighters, you can kill apcs easy with it and damage tanks even. try not to waste your bombs on soft targets like cars, boats, helos, planes on the deck, ground aa when you can use your nose cannon. Youll need fewer rearms and you'll be able to do alot more damage. I can make it so a car cannot leave a flag and if they take the one peace of armor thats when I drop my bomb, the whole time I will hit their ground AA and while a fly by I will spot infantry and even strafe them, asuming of course there is no enemy jets in the sky, ground attack is a cake walk.

But to anser your question I'll go over how to drop bombs in the 2x bomb method since if you can do that you can easily drop singe bombs, here goes. practice doing this with the F-35 since it is the easiest to bomb with and use that as a reference.

        step #1
You dont want to be turning or pulling up or pushing the nose down when you drop bombs, establish your self in a straight flying line of at least 45 to 50 degrees.

        step #2
use the center of your screen should be the TOP of the verticle line that is in the bottom half of your bombing hud... NOT THE BOTTOM OF THAT LINE... mmm...k?

        step #3
when you think your dinging the target with both bombs start looking behind you to see where your bombs land... if your second bomb over shoots your either pulling up too soon or your angle of attack is too shallow...maybe both. you want to wait for the second clunk of that second bomb before you make any change in direction because guess what? if you change direction... so do your bombs. when you get the basics down, then move on to slinging bombs into hangers or door ways, if you aim small, you will miss small.

try this as a drill, fly straight down at a target from around 400 feet, absolutly strait down fly straight and release your bombs from around 200 feet, I bet they fall in a tight group one on top of the other, thats why its important to come in at the steepest angle possible. once you master stationary targets you will have to lead moving tanks and or apcs.

Just so you dont lose focus, bombs are your plan b, your bread and butter is that nose cannon, it allows you to loiter for much longer, remember... If you bomb either take out a cluster of troops taking a flag or armor, ground aa, cars and boats are a waste. If you want to screw with a ground aa bubba I climb to 600 feet and drop both bombs from a straight dive, he never hears me or sees me just two bombs right on his head with no exposure on my part. clarification: that last thing about bombing an AA position is more like a party trick, NOT your bread and butter ok? hope that helps.
The key point of having both bombs hit the same spot is not to pull up or change direction until you hear the second clunk.

I will say this in respect to each aircraft:

once you get used to the F-35, the F-18 aiming point for bomb drops is lower on the bombing hud than the f35 almost half way down that verticle line on your hud if not more.

j10: is about the same as the f35 if not a hair lower on the verticle hud line, but the problem with this jet is it is very unstable, the trick is to fly in a straight line with this jet until you hear the second clunk

mig 29: similar to the f18 aim point but just a hair higher.

        auto wolf

the reason why you are probably not keeping up with the bomber is your using your after burner too early, save it for when he starts to level out and you will more than catch up with him in an F-35. F35 is the fastest jet at altitude, if he climbs hes working himself right into your strongsuit... exploit him, just remember to time your after burner properly at altitude and youll be ok.

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

Thank you very much MOBB, that helps alot. I am gonna have a long practise on an empty server some time tomorrow and use your tips.

I think my major problem is the angle i'm coming in from (nowhere near steep enough), and the improper use of my HUD. (I thought it was the very bottom line) so thanks again for clearing this up for me :)

No problem jay, if you still cant get it down, just track me down and join my squad, then just watch as I bomb, bombing is the easiest thing to do in a jet and should not be your main focus, if you want to bomb alot, then fly the bomber, youll be happier and so will the people who are depending on that fighter to supply air supperiority so they themselves dont get bombed

I still have no clue how to only drop 1 bomb instead of farking dropping the lot and leaving me with nothing when I see a nicely bunched group of people waiting to be bombed.

Also how do you land/fly slowly over an airfield? Everytime I try to slow down I seem to stall and crash

Don't land. For repairs, just fly slowly over the airfield. Keep your airspeed at like 500, and keep your nose up a bit.

its easy peasy to get 60-0 k:d in the bombers, you gotta fly smart, keep out of the way of enemy planes, know how to evade and dodge their missiles and know the best places to attack.

im obviously not going to give secrets away, but i will tell you to fly high 600-850m and dive down to the area you want to attack, once you and ur tv guy have done your best, fly up again to go reload.

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

sigh, I highly recommend you use your nose canon on infantry instead of wasting bombs you could use on armor instead. As for the slow fly bye rearm repair, you only want to do this when you know you wont get engaged by an enemy jet. Drop your throttle on your joystick quite a ways from the carrier or airstrip it takes about 5 seconds for the speed to start going down if you bank or pull up it drops faster, heres the kicker... for all planes except the f18 right when you get to around 450 kph start flipping your throttle lever all the way up and down back and forth about once every half second back and forth this will cause your speed to hold, it will drop about another 100 kph but it will hold at around 280 to 300 kph this is where you will repair about hallf your life in one pass. I use this sometimes when I know I killed both jets and I can repair quickly in one pass with no regard for enemy jets... thats it...just use it in the right scenario or youll get ambushed by the enemy jet.

Zippor... I think I've seen you fly before, I think youd remember me If I was up in the fighter so I might be mistaken, the problem with that zippor is once I see F15 and a few kills with the medic revives on the mini map I know you just struck and I'll start looking for you. Anyways, have I seen you around before?

Question 1. What is some good evasions for the MiG on oman? because i suck with it on oman but good on kubra.

Question 2. How high do you have to be so the AAs wont lock on to you?

Re: Jet Flying Question And Answer

I'm making another jet video that will explain alot of advanced jet stuff.

Lately (past 4 months) I have been concentrating on dogfighting. I have gotten like 4 times better than I was before at dogfighting, and I was already really good with ground targets.

                        Some things I will say...

Use your cannon as your main weapon against ground targets. *ONLY* use your bombs on tanks/apc (use cannon first then drop 1 bomb), mobile AA (obviously because you just want him dead, and fast), and places where you know you can get 4+ infantry kills.

DO NOT use missles on choppers, just get practice in with the cannon, learn how much to lead the target and compensate for lag to make the bullets come in contact with the cockpit. I don't care how you do, but if you get a steady stream, you will be killing choppers in 1-2 seconds... aka before they even realized what hit them... literally...

                        LEARN TO USE YOUR VIEWS!

3 views you MUST use 24/7 when in a jet.

                        Cockpit/rear view/fly-by.

I cannot stress this enough... especially a combination of fly-by and cockpit view while in a dogfight.

i know how to repair from the alarms going right upto full health in one pass on any land based runway

yea you probably have seen me on the uk servers, not for a while tho cos im under a diff name. and its funny you should say something like that because many times the enemy come looking for just my plane cos im racking up all the kills. i evade and loose 99% of them and the other 1% that are able to follow, i just toy with them, dodge every missile then fly off lol (got gunned a few times when i really took the piss circling for minutes at a time whilst laughing ).
btw im almost never in the f15, the su34 is my fave....

I highly recommend you, do as metalica suggests on the helos, hiting the windshield turns them into roman candles in less than 2 seconds. firing at the windshield also works on black hawks, since we are on the subject of black hawks, I like to actually fire into the crew compartment and empty about two thirds of the people on board, if you come from the starboard side you can actually nail the pilot, resulting in a rather funny crash of the helo.

I also agree that bombs should only be used on armor, however, I disagree on the method for engaging armor with only one bomb but to put things in perspective, I've flown with metalica before and we were neck in neck point wise the whole time, so 1 bomb or 2 bomb as long as you can take out the armor consistantly. we actually got called hackers by this guy flying a j-10, when we were just tag teaming him, kinda pathetic when you get owned by f35s and your flying a j-10

an easier way to get to single bomb mode is to drop the bombs, but as soon as you drop you need to change to your air missiles. done correctly and that will leave you in one bomb mode. i just recently started using fly-by, and omg it was crazy at first. but now its a god send.

1.It should be the same but kubra damn is where if you dont know what you are doing youll smack a crane or hill side, lots of mobile aa if you can fly on kubra dam without crashing you should have an easy time on oman, I'll be honest here, you should be having an easy time with open terrain and f35s, the only thing I can think of is that your getting lit up by the numerous ground aa on that map, there is literally one at every flag. listen to the tones are they fast? then its ground aa, rather long? then its an F-35, adapt and overcome, look in your rearview as to what is shooting at you.

2.The range of ground aa is around 300meters but you need to add elevation of the terrain so 350 is usually safe.
