p.s. I had a dive proner that rolled around and killed me with a sniper rifle almost instantly. I so wanted to call hAx!!!!1
You were on the ERR, or =TAW= Jalalabad IO server, weren't you? Because I recognize your screen name.

That was probably me who did that. It's become my trademark to quickly aim while jumping and going prone just to give me the time I need to aim at your head.

Unfortunately it does backfire on me once in a while, as my sniper rifle dances around after I land...

Instant Prone doesn't work with Bolt-Action Sniper Rifles.

Shoot (short burst) about half a meter above the enemy head while he is jumping, don't move your aim down, i.e. do not follow the jumping target, just shoot ABOVE.. great chance one of your bullets to make a headshot

And/Or: do not step back.. instead, run forward, show aggression, don't jump, eventualy you should find yourself BEHIND that dive-proner down there spining like a turtle looking for you while you are shooting his sexy-lovely bottom :-)

when you come to 1 on 1 battle try crouch and fire a burst, if they start the jump/prone then go straight into a jump to side/prone yourself and unload on them.

Ive foudn the bes tactic for prone divers is circling them. Come at them but move to the side and try to circle them.
Once a person is prone its harder for them to spin to were you are. staying in front of them or back up makes it easy for them to kill you, but its harder if as soon as they land they have to start sliding there mouse to get you back in there sights.

Yes I prone dive when I have to, but i dont just jump, prone, fire...I defy the laws of gravity and jump then hold a direction liek A or D which for some odd reason against the laws of physics you can actually move in the air. So jump-move position in the air- land and fire.

Funnist thing Ive found is how its possible to jump go prone then push a direction then push the opposite direction..its as if while in the air you can actually fly around on your belly till you hit the ground.

All in all it comes down to circling them since once they are prone there less mobile.

And I suppose you supprt the return of c4 frisbee, jump'n'toob, dolphin-diving, tk-seeking missles and glass mines?

Typically submariners (aka; semen) will also be using the G36E. The most unbalanced weapon this side of 1.2.

Before that it was the laser-pointer G36C.

Anyone who complained about the PKM being "too good" has really started to regret it I hope. Insta-gib RPK and semen-36e is the norm for the server I play on, and in times gone by the PKM could have dealt with the problem. Now it's just too god damn crap.

What next I wonder, I can't kill crap with the DAO, G3's hit detection went out the window over-night....

Man. C4-frisbee, despite being incredibly lame, looks pretty good in comparison to todays BF2.

            I miss 1.2

I hear you man. I joined a server last night in the final 2-3 minutes, I checked my team to join a squad...60% were medics, 39% were support and the last few guys were jihading snipers.
ATM Im working on my expert assualt so Ive been playing assualt exclusively for a month or 2 now for the hours, I actually had top Assualt score..10 points
The main medic had well over 250 points from kills and revives, the supprot guy had a good kill rate but massive resupplies do to nades and clays...the snipers had crappy K/d's but still massive points, you knwo the usual jihd sniper kill yourself yet pick up 2-3 kills along the way.

It doesn't matter what I do. I can be moving and shooting at them in the back of the head, they'll jump and wheel around, dive to prone and bam headshot.

I can be already prone, prepared and shooting short bursts, watching as the cursor tells me I've hit them several times, emptying my clip at them... same thing... they wheel around, dive-> prone and I'm dead.

I'm sniping a guy up on USMC sniper ridge on Karkand, he jumps off the side, slides down the hill in prone position, ends his slide, and pulls off a miracle PKM shot.

I'm drilling a guy in the back of the head with a pistol, watching the cursor telling me I am hitting him... he jumps, turns mid-air, and prones, taking me out in 3 shots.

I just don't get it. I'm a good player in all instances, usually getting the jump on most of them. Anyone standing or running, or otherwise non-proned dies, or if they are already prone. Yes, if they are already prone I can kill them.

The secret seems to be to actually dive->prone in the middle of a firefight for the win. Is this hard-coded in the game to increase accuracy just for a bull-****ing **** moment?

I love this game, but this is more like BFS2 now.

Can someone please explain to me why I am getting owned by the dive-to-proners. Please dont tell me I'm inaccurate. I'm hitting them. The problem is they are getting the fatal shot on me quicker by performing dive-to-prone in response.
God you are just blaiming on everything where you are loosing/not so good at. I did this before with the J-10 but still tactics = win.

So people are better than in aiming. Every thing that people loose in as Claymores, Tanks, Apc's, etc. etc.

I'm not trying to be harsh but everytime people are complaining about every patch everything in the game sucks. This sucks and jets sucks and apc's sucks infantry only sucks everything.. sucks! So if you don't like it don't do it and become better at aiming since there are a lot of people who I know who are really good at shooting without jumping and diving. So you can either adapt. Or just stick at this way of playing the game.

The problems are arising from the fact that the code allows you to body splash the ground, and fire with perfect accuracy, while an already deployed and prone player must try to hit this moving target. Not the least that the standing to prone player pays no redeploy weapon penalty, but can stand up, bunny hop around at will with no stamina penalty and rinse repeat all day. Should have been programmed that any stance change forces a redeploy animation before the player can shoot. Also jumping 2-3 times in a row should wipeout stamina and not allow rejump again until stamina bar fills up. Unfortunately, that would cause the majority of the quakers that play this game to cry incessantly. So they left it out. Military skinned quake... pure and simple...

Quoted and bolded for the truth. This has nothing to do with my skill. The constant jump->dive->proners know this easy 'accuracy boost' without penalty exists, therefore they use it constantly. If it didn't work, then the majority of players wouldn't do it.

I wasn't looking for attacks on my skill, I was looking for answers as to why the dive->proners seem to be so effective at killing me first, even though I've already unloaded half a clip (registered by the flashing yellow hit symbol, so I dont miss), and the game grants them a one-shot kill.

For the record, anyone not dive->proning I will take out most of the time, because of course they don't get the unrealistic accuracy boost afforded by the dive->prone move.

Where do you draw the line? Certainly someone diving and shooting at you from a bit of a distance is okay.

After playing CS/DOD for so long it's natural for me to go into a strafing pattern when I'm confronted close in.

Strafing is a good way to avoid bullets if the person you're against, doesn't know how to shoot at a strafer.

Just remember that you have to shoot 'behind' the strafer to hit them, and strafing is about as useful as a wetnap in a gun fight.

I have the same problme getting beaten by the prone-diver. I have started to just aim for peoples legs as soon as they dive you hit them in the head game over.

I hope that EA nerf the G36E soon as it owns nearly all the other guns especially the assault guns. Just drop the damage to the same or a little higher as the M16A2 so its on a par but still more accurate than the M16.

I don't mind the dolphin divers to much. I am moving my mouse down a little when shooting at some one anyway. To compensate for recoil. I just move it down faster when I see them start to dive. Bunnyhoppers are easy to kill. Just shoot at their chest when they are about to land. The bunnyhopping dolphin diving guys are the tough ones. But they still can be killed. I have to admit I dolphin dive a bit. I kinda do it different. When I use the single pump shotgun (the only US gun I use) I will shoot standing up then dive to doge their bullets then either shoot again from the ground or stand up and shoot again. Of course this is only needed against support, assault and other engies. Spec op, medic and snipers go cartwheeling back on the first pump. Although they all go flying back if they are less then five feet away and all the pellets hit their face. :)

Re: Getting Owned by Dive To Prone

The best way I've beaten prone jumpers is to not be parallel to them. That's what they count on most. Let them take the first shot and they are mine
It's funny how weak this tactic really is because they only get 1 good shot to get you. After that, they are just a nublets begg'n to be taken down. Has anyone notice when a prone hopper miss he repeats the process of prone hopping again? If they can't get a good bean on you when they prone-hop to the ground they will try again. The only flaw to this is that you have to be angled far enough where they have to actually turn to the side. The best way to do it is to have a corner of a building to hide behind until you get the knack of it.

                              Example:
                              P=Prone Hopper
                              Y=You
                              |=distance marker (nothing more)

                              P
                              |
                              |
                              |
                              Y
                              This equals head shot

Here is what you want to do
                              P
                              |
                              .|
                              ..|
                              ...|
                              ....Y
In this example they now have to re-compensate their aim. By this time you get a good bean on them and take them out. If this doesn't work, aimbots maybe in play. However, if no aimbot is in play they are yours for the taken. I've found this tactic most useful and most effective. However the key ingredient to this receipt is to allow them to take the first shot. If you did your homework they should miss.

Yes eastcoast, I agree. The secret seems to be the actual action of diving to prone, which gives them the possible headshot. If they miss, they usually get up to do it again.

It's a phenemona I've observed in many, many hours of gameplay. The problem is in making sure I can kill them faster than their increased accuracy kills me.
