This is true, though I've been told if you eliminate the hard drive cache it will make use of the 4th gig. In other words, XP will use 4 gig of virtual memory but typically there is a 1 gig cache on the hard drive. Setting that to zero would use the 4th gig of RAM. I tried this and didn't see any real difference.
I have 4 gig in my system and I'm not entirely sure I gained a whole lot. I do know in other games it doesn't take me long to load zones that I recently visited because they're still stored in the RAM.
I have a 3700+, 4 gig of RAM, 7900GT, a 7200 RPM SATA 2 HD, and a cable connection with DL speed of 8 meg. I'm usually one of the first 5 people to spawn on a map. But I can't tell you which part of my system is causing that. lol.
