Personally, I haven't been playing much BF2 recently, not sure why, I just heven't felt like playing.

When I do play though, it is usually PoE, but the last time I signed on, I did notice a lot of servers missing

With any luck, some of the new mods, Forgotten Hope maybe, will re-kindle the life in BF2 and keep us all going.... at least, keep anyone going to the dark side (2142)

      Scort.

        You got my vote !

Actually, I think there is another reason.

It is because players need to relearn the entire system of playing. What I mean is this: when I play BF2 I know the probability of taking down a chopper, for example, with the stinger and I can calculate and make a decision whether it is worth going for the stinger in a situation where a chopper is attacking my position. In a mod, all the weapon stats have changed and I have to relearn everything in comparison to regular BF2.

When POE2 came out my team had a heck of time taking out tanks. In BF2 we know we can take a tank out in 3 to 4 hits with the AT kit. In POE2 it seemed we were hitting it 5 to 6 times and beyond. We had to completely restructure how we played to compensate for the mod and that would have taken a lot of time (maybe 100-150 hours of play) to become proficient with the new system.

Another example: We had an APC coming into a base we were defending in POE2. So, my teammate jumped into a tank and assumed, as in BF2, that he would win that fight. Next thing he knows he was killed by a TV Missile from the APC. Suddenly, our whole concept of what our capabiltites are in the game changed and that can get annoying.

For some, this can be fun but we found it to be too cumbersome especially when you have to learn by trial by fire. And since you die so much quicker in POE2 than in regular BF2 it takes that much longer to learn.

Sorry to the POE2 guys if it seems like I'm picking on you. What you did was great but the mod came out so late that many people were so entrenched in BF2 they couldn't switch their thinking to a new set of rules and capabilities.

There’s a lot of truth in this, when I first started with PoE2, I found it hard taking out tanks, it seemed like I was doing little to no damage, then I found out you have to hit the tracks for the maximum damage.

Now playing AT is far far more enjoyable imo, as you have to really work for getting a good hit, it’s no longer a case of guiding the shot into the back of the tanks, but landing the perfect shot on a smaller target and imo much more rewarding.

I remember PoE had to put up a post showing the spots to hit tanks, as so many people had issues with the new AT system, but once you understand where to hit, and have gotten used to the drop of the round, AT is quite deadly.

Here’s to hoping it never gets changed

                I disagree but hey
POE2 might have excellent quality but for me and many many others it just wasn't better than BF2 and did not satisfactorily improve or offer solutions to problems in the base game and therein lies one of the biggest problems with the mods, the lack of vision and hence mass appeal.

They are NOT the same people at all.

That is exactly my problem with D"con" using the name, so many people think it is the same mod and the same people doing it when it is not. I would fully support them if they just changed their darn name and did not try to ride another teams coatails.

I don't see why most people care so much about stats. It's like they play Bf2 solely on just getting rank-ups or points. It's a game, it's supposed to be fun, not a chore.

Though, the stats part do add a little competition. Oh well.

Once you get to 2nd lieutenant, stats don't really matter at all since there is no incentive to get more unlocks.

he made a mistake, he obviously doesnt know much about DC from BF42 if he called it Dcon. You are blaming Dcon for people not doing there research, it is said MULTIPLE TIMES ALL OVER THERE SITE that they have NO AFFILIATION WITH DC

you cant blame them for wanting to bring back the fun we all had in DC, and thats exactly what there trying to do, Desert-Conflict is a throwback to Desert-Combat and a damn nice one too, the name only serves as a reference as to what Dcon is trying to emulate. If you actually joined the community and got to know everyone, you might understand a little better....but....you seem to only want to bash the mods name(of all things) on an outside site...

I don't really play mods because, and this may sound stupid, i really cant be bothered with the hassle of installing them. Not that im lazy, i just never get the time with all the stuff im doing. And there s the question of whether they're worth it. It's all a M.O.O (matter of oppinion ) i think.

one thing i dont like about mods is the lack of popularity and its gameplay

like for bf2, i wouldnt play in a server with less than 55ish ppl and i remember playing prmm and poe2 and there was a ton of just walking and looking for ppl to shoot at (poe2 was better, but idk..just not as fun)
