If you've overcome the enemy and fought them back to their main then IMHO you've earned the right to base rape them, regardless of whether the flag is cappable or not.

However being baseraped at the airfield by ace pilots such that your team just cannot get into the air just completely ruins some rounds. The AA at airfields should be better to prevent this. I've seen USMC pilots on Oman spend the whole round raping the MEC airfield as flag after flag was lost. Even when only the carrier was left they didn't change their pattern, a big figure 8 between the MEC airfield and the carrier. Sure they got a good kdr and good points, but their team lost.

Spawn camping on the other hand is just lame.

Ummm, hang on a second, isn't most of what you wrote simply a contradiction of terms?

So you're saying that if you and your team earns the right to base rape, you're going to do it, but on the other hand you also understand how rounds can be ruined by people base raping, in your example, 'ace pilots'.

So tell me, how are you making the game fun by admittedly ruining it, surely parking a tank just outside a main-base and picking people off as you see them try to flee, isn't fun for either yourself or the other player.

I personally think it all comes back to stats again, although base raping did happen on games such as Desert Combat, people would often get bored and move back to defend a flag, allowing the game to carry on for another hour or so.


Moving on to another point you state spawn camping is lame.... what's the difference between that and 'base raping'? Surely the two are the same, albeit with different terms to make them more socially acceptable to the BF2 community?

Spawn camping to me is where a player would hang around waiting at a known spawn point, and mow down anything that moved, and is dressed in a different uniform to you. How does that differ from base raping?

If you know spawn camping is lame, then so to must be base raping?

I would personally prefer to have a round continue for fun, and fun to me is not unfairly pounding the enemy into the ground, hence the reason most servers have “No Base Raping” rules before you join.

Getting raped as China doesn't exist you've got a crappy team if the pilots in the J-10's can't take out F35-B's

Just go in every Anti-Air vehicle that you can and then there's no baserape. Well a tank at your base can of course be killed with Anti-tank. I don't actually think there's baserape I used to think so. But now I often am manning the Essex gun to annoy J-10 Pilots.

I'm one of those players that bitches like hell when we're being base raped, but not in the baby or noobie sense. I get angry because it's usually my team's fault because they won't leave their base, and are not playing aggressive. Instead they decide to hide in their base, shooting at people, etc., then get upset because the enemy team is 'base raping' us.

Don't want to get raped at our main base? Then get your fat asses to LAKE then LOL

Granted I'm not a great player, wouldn't even call myself a good player, but I have my moments and can often finish a game in the top 6, so I hardly would consider myself 'noob', and I don't like "base camp".

Maybe you should get your head out of that dark, smelly place, and stop banding around a phrase that you obviously cannot use in the correct context.

I fail to see any validity in an argument for base camping/raping, it's just a total gang-f**k that has no pre-requisite for any form of skill, hell I doubt you even need to engage your brain to take part in such an activity, as you're just shooting fish in a barrel.

Anybody worth their salt in BF2 knows that probably 80-90% of all people in the match, are simply there for the stats, nothing more, so telling people that having good teamwork will stop base attacks is verging on rubbish.

Carrier rape can be annoying though if all the flags are taken by MEC forces, you really can't blame them.

At the same time I'm not a pilot and there's a sick joy in driving a car bomb into MEC jet's taking off at their airfield, whatever time of day.

They're always dropping bombs on us..ruining the fun so meh... ya win some you lose some.

Furthermore, do you really see it as ‘manly’ to pummel a group of people who cannot fight back properly? I guess if you’re an American, you’re the kind to take a pistol to a fist fight.

2. How can you state that an individual, or even a group of individuals, deserve this “fate”? BF2 hardly ever gets played as a team game when pubbing, as I have already pointed out, at least 80-90% of players are just there for stats not wins (imo). So why should I have to put up with players like you, who love cheap kills, just because half of my team decided to wage their own war?

That is pretty damn stupid.

Play at least 50 rounds in a 2000+ ticket game. You will quickly realize that there are 4 main scenarios.

Team A quickly seizes all flags and a 1.5 hour rapefest kicks in where team B doesnt stand a chance.
Team A finds team B to be a good challenge in the start of the round, but then in the stalemate team B will to fight breaks and they get pushed back to the last flag. 1 hour rapefest kicks in.
The other 2 options are with team B instead of team A.

Once youve played those 50 games you will quickly realize that there will be a 90% chance of a situation where one team simply rapes the other team all day long until the round ends. The reason it may not be that frequent in a 330 ticket game, is because they are too damn short.

Besides that, your points are pretty dumb. You basically want an underdog to win through the winning team to back off. You want them to WIN, and not have a FAIR CHANCE. What MOBB didnt say, is that the situation doesnt end when the team has to accept their fate. When the team gets pushed back into their uncap and they have no chance anymore, 330 tickets say that they will have a fresh start in 5-15 minutes. And thats great. If they wont use it then, they will be beaten into a pulp again.

I, personally am all for a fair chance, but a huge chunk of my gametime has been spent in servers offering a very high ticket count, and believe me, very often I want the other team to have a "surrender" option.

So, a boring, dumb game with team A with armor and vehicles outside the uncap border against an army of 32 snipers? Lasting for 30-45 minutes until the tickets bleed? Or a fast, quick mercykilling so that both teams can start from scratch ASAP? I think youve seen too many of those teenager movies where the ugly kid with acne walks away with the prom queen. Sorry.

I personally am a gentleman and try to limit my attacks on uncap as much as possible, but I have played many different types of games to not to judge people too hastily.

Ok Chris, some good points, I guess, but also some pretty stupid ones.

As stated this is just a game, I'm not sure what movies you're referring to, as I don't watch TV, but even so - what would that have to do with a game?

Also, how often do you see 2000+ ticket rounds; I don't play much BF2 now, but when I did I never once saw games over more than a couple of hundred tickets, even unranked ones.

If you consider yourself a gentleman during play, why is it that you cannot see the point I am putting across? I am trying to argue my own thoughts on base raping, that it is 'noob' and a way to inflate stats through cheap kills, by not giving the other team a chance to fight back.

At the end of the day, I disagree with base raping, regardless of which end I am on:

If I am on the 'winning team' I'd rather pull back and cover a flag (hopefully catching a sneaky spec ops/sniper) and if I'm on the 'losing' team, sure I'll get frustrated, not only because (in my experience) the team not working together, but because the majority of the opfor are now picking us off like sitting ducks.
