I like playing as sniper because
1) there are so many people who are really bad at it. When I'm playing a different kit, I rarely get killed by snipers. I guess people are really bad at hitting moving targets (not just snipers, though).
2) Sometimes a little bit of distance is good and killing people 300 yds away is fun, especially when the target has no idea where the shot came from.
3) Hiding in plain sight. In Kubra Dam, for example, there is so much different kinds of action that a sniper will go unnoticed for a long time.
4) Infantry only Jalalabad. It's open ground and the distances between flags make for some good fighting (if the US can break through the first line of defence). Being able to stay out of the reach of the grenade spammers is also an advantage on this map. I'll often end up with 30-40 kills on either side.

Yea right you knowhow stupid snipers are on your own team on umsc jalalabad.



They are just laying there in order to shoot on some rocks.
and then to make a adavance is just inpossible because they just stay laying there with there freaking buts.

sometimes I'm the only to go in advance and to avoid snipers shooting at me I just trow smoke nade and will get my nadelaucher to the group other snipers who are laying by the rock.

I kill 5 snipers at once an nobody adavance from my side or take another kit.
so most of the tmime umsc lost because of the many dumm snipers behind me

I love to kill snipers at the start of the game, especially if they havent deployed their claymores yet, take their kit and deploy them myself.

The sniper will come looking for me and will walk into his own claymores =)

In my opinion, the sniper kit's initial draw is basecd on it's performance in other games. For example, MOHAA had uber sniper rifles and I could pretty much own with them against spray and pay Tommie users. However when it comes to battlefield 2, I'm stumped with sniper because there's a lot more to think about.

I only play as a Sniper on Infantry Only Jalalabad.

My reasoning? The best counter to a sniper rifle, is another sniper rifle.

While I'm bum-rushing my arse down to the Junkyard-Hotel-Market flags, I need to put an end to the harrassment of four-five snipers all firing blindly at my position hoping to get a lucky shot on me while I'm moving. So... I cheaply jump around, pull out the scope, point my gun at their head, and fire blindly back.

Since I'm a squad leader, and people are generally in my squads, they'll spawn on me and grab nearby flags, while I cover their arses by spotting nearby infantry that I can't kill myself, and removing far away sniper threats.

New people are sniper becuase:

- You can be any position and the bullet will go where the cross hair is pointing, so you don't need to be prone. Ever, unless you want to keep a low profile

- Instead of "Confusing Ironsights" you get a nice big crosshair and some zoom

- It's annoying when you're in the mix becuase it's annoying to get killed by arty/grenades/bombs, they can't handle that so they go far away and do it from there

- It's easier to stay in one place taking pot shots then moving from cover to cover and trying to cap a flag etc..

Now, i'm not one of those 100% sniper guys. I do know that it is one of the easiest kits to kill with, that and the G36E Medic, you can see that as when you have someone who's good with an M16/AK47 and AK101 use a sniper rifle or G36E they rack up even more kills. Again, that's why alot of new people choose it, it just is that much easier.

For me, Snipers DO NOT generally pose as a problem. Why? Vehicles. I'm talking Buggy or Heavy Jeep. I get up close and personal with the AK's and M16/F2000. And let the jeeps take the claymores for me, most of the time. In SF i just use the grapple hook. I just kind of got used to it now and now i'm loving the vehicle drop. Very useful when needed.

that is not true, the accuracy is nowhere near as good as while prone. if your stood up and want to shoot someone, they have to be reasonably close for you to hit them.

Sniper is a fun class, I was friggen amazing at it in 1942 but in bf2 I sucked.
My main problem with sniper is the claymore spam everywhere, EA should have made it from the start so if you die your claymore is deactivated or dissapears. So many people on karkand and other heavy city maps just running into the frey throwing claymores and dying, yet still getting usually 2 kills for their one death.

I play sniper sometimes simply when I don't feel intense enough for combat .. allows me to still play for a while. Youhave to admit, it is fun to pop somebody half way across the map

I played as a sniper loads in the beginning...mainly cos i kept getting killed in the other kits.Now i'm only the sniper if i see snipers on my team NOT DOING THEIR JOB!!!Its well worth stickin with the sniper and getting good,my accuracy is at 55%.REMEMBER:ONLY TAKE THE SHOT IF U KNOW U CAN GET HIM!

Sounds like last night. I was playing Warlord as SAS, and a squad of us were rushing the palace. A couple guys on the other team kept manning the fixed machine guns on the palace and were sweeping the field, killing a bunch of my team. I found myself a nice spot by the security post and brough out the M95. Everytime they manned up a machine gun or even stuck their head over the rail I popped them. I got 8 kills before they gave up... and I got flak from the other team... LOL

I usually go sniper as I can never get sniper spot in AA,
and as the BF2 maps are much bigger there is more scope for
proper sniper tactics.
Also, the hay and sh** does it for me!

I like it because it's the one where you can get the most range out of the weapons.

You CAN see further (or more clearly further) with the sniper rifles than anything else.

It's also a nice cheap way to pick off people who are hiding behind rocks. Only see his foot? Bang Bang, +2.

The further you are away from the action, the less change of you dying there is.

Then again my 2 favourite weapons are the Sniper rifle and the Shotgun :) different tools for different jobs.
