    Re: ROE? I think not...

We have asked for changes but have been shot down just as the community has with patches and the game itself. Is it really worth the time to debate the ROE when most of the other major problems with the game aren't addressed? BFROE is one of 2 programs that enforce the ROE yet we never see the posts about BF2RS. I would welcome any comments from the other program and where they stand on this matter.

I think you have just highlighted one of the problems. There's ROE, BFROE and BF2RS (which i must admit i did not know about). People use these terms interchangeably which of course they are not and the confusion adds to the resentment.

Then you have Indian Scout always saying that BFROE just collect the evidence - its up to EA to take action, but you saying "BFROE is one of 2 programs that enforce the ROE" - again adding to the confusion.

I know its just words but surely you can see how confusion and mis-information add to the resententment and anger.

Don't get me wrong. The ROE has absolutely no impact on me. I am very unlikely to get another promotion now that i am gunnery sergeant (given the limited time i get to play this game). I just like to get involved in a good discussion when i should be working...

The problem is the fact that BFROE takes the brunt of the anger from the community and that maybe from us being involved more with this forum than BF2RS is. Interpetation of wording is up to the person reading and should look for clarification if they have a problem with it. When I stated that BFROE enforces the ROE that was bad wording on my part but as many players and server owners that have joined us can tell you with the many reports that come in daily there is a place for this type of program. All of us would just like to sit down and play the game yell at the screen and enjoy our favorite drink but when there's a glitch or something happening with the game we don't like and it's posted in forums like this with no help that's where a program like ours can help.

If there are legitimate rules, with legitimate reasons for having them- they should be enforced.

But of course- some leniency should be excercised for people who don't know or understand those rules.

Stat-padding is unfair. K/P servers are deemed to be set up to serve that purpose. It's just as unfair to everyone that people stat-pads and gain an unfair advantage because they are comfortable with being dishonest, as much as it is unfair that people who never knew the rules to have their stats reset because of one incident.

I think policy should be in place to regulate the consequences of breches of such rules.

Just because it's a PC game, people automatically assume that the end-user is as computer saavy as some of us like to think we are. They're not going to browse around the net having a witch hunt.
Take a look at the XBL TOS. It says that you may not use an exploit or boost to increase your stats. We all know about the glitches and pads that happen alot on the 360 version of BF2. What happen? Since they are unable to remove the indivisual players stats, they reset the ENTIRE STAT SERVER. Everyone started out from square one again.

If you take a look in the EA TOS when you sign up for the account, doesn't it say that same exact thing I said above? You may not use any glitch or exploit to help improve your stats, you may also not use team-mates or friends to help increase your stats (Boosting)

Then later, doesn't it also say that they may be reset without warning?

YOU CAN STILL PLAY PISTOL AND KNIFE ONLY Big surprise, you can also play WITHOUT FEAR OF YOUR STATS RESETTING You can just play on an *unranked* Last time I checked, there were several (10+servers) legitmant unranked KP servers. If it is an unranked server, you can do whatever the hell you want.

BFROE is only enforced on RANKED servers.

                    ----------------------------------------------

Now for my part. Why do YOU care what happens. Unless YOU are stat-padding, or playing on a RANKED KP server. You got nothing to worry about.

Stay away from Pad servers and Ranked KP servers, you are good to go and don't have to worry about ever being reset.

                    Done.

I believe that a vast majority of people would support laws that come from decency and common sense, while not allowing arbitrary laws that do nothing but take freedoms away from people in the name of protecting us from ourselves. If a majority of citizens oppose a law, wouldn't you think there might be a problem with said law? Government for the people, by the people, of the people.
In the context of the ROE: even if not everyone knows about the ROE, most people can agree that cheating is wrong. There would be an almost unanimous decision to get rid of cheaters, hackers, glitchers, and exploiters. Most people are decent and would not do those things, with or without 5-O there to pig them. I'm not sure if you would get the same support when it comes to what some people consider "stat-padding." I don't think the community as a whole agrees that KP servers are "wrong." If that were the case, why are there so many servers and people who play on them? Sure, pretty much everyone would agree that flipping a boat or putting a HMMWV in some water to pad repair points is lame. Same with one guy spamming grenades while another resuppppp... Wait, that's KARKAND!

Quite a few people in the ROE community were all for resetting people who played on IO servers. Then DICE comes along and makes it a ranked server option. How many people were reset for playing on those servers? Did they get their points/ranks back when they were vindicated by the patch? Were they issued written apologies by the ROE guys, DICE, and/or EA? When that server option came about it officially backed IO as a viable way to play the game.

If KP became a real server-side option, would these "stat-padding sacks of crap" who were reset get their points/ranks returned to them, along with an apology?

                        from the EA TOS..

YOU FURTHER AGREE THAT THESE RULES WILL APPLY TO ANYONE THAT YOU ALLOW TO USE YOUR SERVICE ACCOUNT OR USER ID, AND THAT YOU ARE PERSONALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONSEQUENCES (INCLUDING TERMINATION OF YOUR ACCOUNT) THAT MAY RESULT IF ANY SUCH PERSON BREAKS THESE RULES.

IN ORDER TO HELP MAKE THE SERVICE A GOOD EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYONE, EA MAY OCCASIONALLY FIND IT NECESSARY TO MAKE CHANGES TO, OR RESET CERTAIN PARAMETERS OF, THE SERVICE IN ORDER TO BRING IT BACK INTO BALANCE. THESE CHANGES OR RESETS MAY AFFECT CHARACTERS OR TEAMS UNDER YOUR CONTROL AND MAY CAUSE YOU SETBACKS WITHIN THE GAME WORLD.

THESE RULES MAY BE CHANGED, AND NEW RULES MAY BE ADDED, AT ANY TIME. YOU AGREE TO CHECK THE SERVICE WEB SITE FROM TIME TO TIME TO REVIEW ANY RULE CHANGES THAT ELECTRONIC ARTS MAY HAVE MADE.
