Really.. I dated a Navajo when I was in the Navy, she was as well, and her pay statement showed zero federal taxes withdrawn.... They must have changed those tax laws in the last 12 years.

Very cool though. Nice to meet you.

the inhouse section in its current state pretty much negates the point of even having an roe in the first place. it gives server admins the right to interpret those rules any way they want. the roe needs revision, or elimination, pure-n-simple.

            Re: ROE? I think not...

I have said since day one that a police force for a video game like this one is absurd.

I keep seeing the word "Advantage" thrown around in this thread and I wonder what would be the advantage?? It would make it easier to earn your pistol, knife, etc. What's the advantage of that exactly? It doesn't make you play any better, doesn't give you anything that every other player cant get or use. As a matter of fact, you cant use the "reward" for anything more than.....bragging rights?.....Maybe, but everyone has that badge now and if you just started playing who cares what you have or what you earned. If you have played since release and you have it, again who cares??

Pistol, knife is fun as hell sometimes. How many of you have played other FPS's with these weapons only? Many actually have server set ups with this option built in. Now, all the sudden thanks to "rankings" and "badges" its not allowed. BAH! Totally absurd.

Again the realization that the rank system is flawed and pointless is thrust in everyones faces. The only good thing? about it, is the ability to segregate the players who are "just playing" and the players who are living and dying with the rankings.

As with many others here, I agree that for the ROE to have meaning it must be "KNOWN" to everyone. While I'm not a supporter of the ROE, if it must be in existence, at least make it required reading before playing. If it is used to wipe stats of players in K/P servers, then the K/P server itself must be De ranked and De listed. To punish the user and not the dealer is an injustice that renders the ROE null.

Players who screen shot players in a K/P or take their words from a forum and report them are no better than jail house snitches. Jealous that they are to afraid to just play the game the way they want, for fear of losing their "hard earned" points and shiny trinkets. Again, absurd.

That's what I wanted to know.

Also, if your stats are in fact reset, do you get to keep your guns?
If so, then I could care less if I get reset, I just don't want to try to get all the damn guns again.

No where on the box, game, cd, instruction manual or any other documentation it comes with have it written about anything to do with visiting a forum no ROE.

It's for whiners by whiners IMO. Way I see it, I paid for the game, I'll play it anyway I wish.

OMG I just laughed really really hard. The rest of us dont need to belong to a silly organisation like ROE to feel important. We have friends and clanmates. ROE sux, always did and always will, as does the stats system. You are self appointed police, and we see you as self appointed.

By the way I admin a number of servers and dont need you to tell me how or to do it, period.

I quite agree, im happy with a good admin and a friendly server.
I havent played ranked in months and i find its a far more fun game with far better servers and far more colourful players, a totally different experiance with far more co-operation, it is simply a healthier game away from the ROE and ranked nonesense.

easy to sit and just have a big mouth than to try and get involved...

I don't think it's so much that as it is that most people don't care.

I can't speak for everyone, but I came from many many FPS, among other genres as well, and when I seen someone cheating, I would bittch to myself then move on; either leaving the server or just taking a break. It's not that people want to whine and not help, it's just people venting. They get over it. We all do.

I never once thought of having some type of police force to enforce rules though, and I think that's what a lot of people are thinking.

Cheaters/Exploiters come and go, no matter what game you will play. It's like saying that every game should have some sort of police force and I don't really agree with that.

Although I admire your decision to try to promote fair and balanced gameplay, I fear it is not welcomed by most.

                          Re: ROE? I think not...

The only reason I ever heard of this ROE crap is because my BF2 crashed. I searched the forums to find out if others had the same issue and what they had done to fix it. That's about the only reason I ever go to a forum for a game or anything else.
By that time I had already played in a couple of K&P servers and found them to be more chaotic than fun. Anyhow, I knew what the acronym ROE meant because of my occupation. I saw a thread in my search that mentioned it and read a little more.
If there was a ROE in UT, Jedi Academy, AVP2, Diablo 2, Warcraft 2, Quake III, Doom, Star Wars: Battlefront, or Enemy Territory, I never knew about it. Those games weren't $50 worth of bugs wrapped up in fun gameplay. I never had a reason to visit the forums because those games never crashed.
Telling me I could lose the unlocks I had gotten because I played the game in the manner in which I wished because someone would cry about "unfair" e-penis points was a real surprise for me. That was the only reason I got points in the first place. I wanted to shoot the other guns. For that same reason, I never played K&P servers more than a couple of times. That and macro-diving skillz. Having a guy fly through the air and stab me in the toe from 6 feet away while all I got was dustclouds on his face from my knife was a real fun killer.

It really doesn't matter who welcome's the ROE. The fact is that most of the new games coming will have a ranking system and whether it is BFROE or some other program there will alway be someone looking over the player and server owner's back. Cheater's and padder's may come and go just like threads about the cheat police and the ROE, it really doesn't matter anymore as there will always be the debate on the subject. As in life we do not know all the rules of the road but if caught violating them it's a waste of time to claim I didn't know because in the end it will mostly fall on deaf ears.

The difference is: everyone must pass an examination to verify their ability to adhere to the rules of the road. In most countries it is a written and hands-on test. This means that one must have at least a rudimentary understanding of the law before you are put in a position to break it. In BF2's case, there is no test or instruction via official channels to make sure that a player knows and understands the rules before he or she is put in a position to break them by playing the game.

In arcade games and most computer games, the winner is the one with the most points at the end of a round. If someone knew a way to make their ship spin around at lightning speed while shooting everything in Asteroids they would get the high score and put their initials in. There were no po-po waiting in the shadows to clear their initials when they weren't looking. When I first got this game and found out about driver kill assists and driver ability assist points I thought about how cool it would be to fly a BlackHawk with engineers, supply, and medics aboard. I figured I could really rack up the points if I flew while other people threw explosives out the sides, healed each other, resupplied each other, and repaired the chopper. To me, and most other people, that is awesome teamwork and a neat way to get a bunch of points. To others, it's exploitation of the system to get unfair ranks and stats.

EDIT: Also, you say it doesn't matter who welcomes this ROE of yours. I think it really should. If every single registered player of BF2 was contacted and given a vote, the majority should decide if we are policed by gestapo who give no quarter or remorse to people who were unfairly reset. Those reset always complain that they never saw the evidence used against them and their attempts to plead their cases fell on deaf ears. There is no due process, no habeas corpus, nothing. The ROE police have become the equivalent of masked men coming in the dead of night to "disappear" people.

Well I don't think that the first part would work ... I don't think that we would have many laws IRL if the governments let people decide whether a law is acceptable or not. As many before me, I have no beef with BFROE, it is good that it exists but it would be nicer if it was also followed.

The main issue that causes problems here is that people do not know about ROE. As Dacster pointed out, you cannot wiggle your way out of a traffic violation or a crime by saying that you didn't know about it. I think that it applies in most countries that the population should know their laws. However, how should people know about ROE? Its not taught in schools (AFAIK) nor is there an according announcement in the game or visible on the EA site. I remember the news running through the community update part when it was last updated but other than that there isn't even a hint.

As pointed out earlier, there are several places where the BFROE could be advertised in BF. Why not get it done?
