    Ummmmmmm......fun??

ee you guys are confused, this here is a "game".

    game1  /geɪm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[geym]
    1. an amusement or pastime

Thats it! This isn't life or anything like it. To police an amusement is ludicrous. When you go to the carnival, the only rules are for protection from harm. Theres no harm here, unless its your ego's.

As expected someone responded to me with "Play unranked", well I don't know about you, but when I payed my 50$ to "Play" this game, I didn't pay to be told where or how I could play. As far as I'm concerned the only limits to my playing should be hard coded in the software, not in some made up "AFTER THE FACT" piece of virtual paper. Written by people I've never heard of, don't necessarily agree with and cant help but wonder "Who are these guys to make the rules?" I didn't vote for them, was never given the opportunity to check into, nothing. Just "Here are the rules "We" have created, follow them or be punished". Hell for the first 2 months of this ROE, you couldn't even view the thing publicly. You had to register for their site first. This is how you devise and implement a rule set that can get you wiped? Who are these guys and who the hell told them they had all the answers? You still cant get a straight answer out of any of them, all the respond with is rhetoric and links to other things.

Now, you say don't play Ranked K/P. Ok fine I won't but that doesn't mean there not there, I could post a screen of every server in the list that offers "illegal" play, but that would be redundant. If I play there, I could get wiped. Yet the server would remain and others would invariably join, to get wiped in the future. Even so the server would remain. Punish the user, let the dealer keep selling. Thats a lot like entrapment, here in the real world. I don't see a lot of you complaining about the dealer, only the user. Fix the supply problem and the demand will falter.

    Last point:

As was stated by someone else, what about those who were reset from IO play before the 1.4 patch. Obviously enough players wanted it that even EA couldn't ignore it (Yes I expect a ton of "I didn't want it", well your not the only one playing). How can you say your working for fairness in the game, when these people have been punished and now are allowed what they were punished for? In child rearing, this is tantamount to physcological abuse. What will you do for those players? "NOTHING". To bad for them, they deserved it "at the time". Fair??

What about when the ranks are no longer supported, you still gonna run around with your e-nightsticks and catch the virtual bad guys? Who's gonna be the bad guy, when the points and ranks no longer matter. Cheaters are more prevalent in BF2 now than they ever were. Don't be assinine and say "Theres no cheats", my daughter cheats at Chutes and Ladders so I'm positive theres cheaters here. Whats being done about that? Not much. No your to busy catching a guy getting a badge the "wrong" way. The guys who padded their trinkets (and there were many of them) before the ROE are the ones crying so loudly against these "Easy button trinkets". The ones who just want to play aren't crying about not being able to earn a badge, they are crying because instead of being able to play the game for what its purpose was (SEE DEFINITION ABOVE!), they must follow some other players "rules" which were determined by another "player". Fair??

Its sad to see what a minority of players has done to this game. Those Im reffering to will know who they are. They are the ones who will prop up a defensive posture and try to show how they are right thru flaming or ridicule. Won't see any real responses, just more rhetoric and maybe another link or 2. Probably see "If you dont like it, dont play", etc, etc.

Funny aside: I was deeply involved in the ROE argument in the past, I asked to many questions and made to many observations about its hypocritical nature and was subsequently removed from these forums (not by banning just removed), my biggest concern was in fact the infantry only aspect of it and how they could defend wiping stats for IO play. Ironic.

        Re: ROE? I think not...

You act like BFROE wrote the rules. EA wrote the rules, not them. You also agreed to abide by all terms and conditions when you clicked Agree when signing up for you bf2 account...

The reason the IO players got wiped is because that they were playing against the rules. It said in the ROE that servers could not impair the use of anything on the map. Most of The players obviously didn't choose to ONLY use people, since 99% of the time it will be either in the server rules. If it was in neither of these and people just decided to play IO, but did not enforce it as in KB'ing anyone in something else, that would be 100% acceptable. But the issue of IO is over now that EA has added it.

When the stats get wiped thats it. Not any unlocks. If you want to play for fun, play for fun. But people that PAD are cheating other players that play for stats legitemently. If someone was cheating against you, would you want their stats wiped?

And about the "E-NightSticks" No, ROE will not continue to do any stat research if EA wants to eleminte BF2 stats. BFROE only researches Ranked stuff.

          Re: ROE? I think not...

Doesn't anybody else just play for the thrill of hunting people down online and killing them?

Anyhow, is there any other kind of padding outside of k/p servers? If you throw 3 med packs and only 2 people need them are you padding? If you spawn kill in a Karkand alley, should you be reset for padding?

Do you really need to form a grassroots activist group because the behavior of a 12 year old on a video game pisses you off so much?

The fact that a video game has a set of global laws and a police force is just sad.

EDIT: The fact that people report "padders" is even more sad. They're virtual numbers and JPEG's, PNG's or DDS files that will not be there in 5 years. They also will not help you in life. If you run for President saying you're a good choice cause "I reported teh padderz and I HAVE NEVER PADDED IN MY LIFE", you'll either be laughed at or the audience will sit in silence as you drool and babble on about "that one time I pwned an entire server of knife padders".

Do I really have to answer that? I don't even know if I can answer it to your satisfaction if you really have to ask why I'm playing. Do you really think people care about medals/badges? I'm here to have fun, work as a team with my friends/roomates and kick some ***; not worry about my shiny e-medals.

Sure, EA wrote the rules. We will continue on this basis. But where does it say in the "EA written rules" that there is something called the BFROE (or the others for that matter) who will enforce our "EA Rules"?

I haven't seen that anywhere. So you see people's points here are that it's just made up. If EA doesn't even support it, why should people follow suit?

I have enough of those in the real world. Besides Im not one to pull punches for the sake of "getting along". If someone thinks poorly of me because of how I feel about some issue, then they aren't people I would be friends with anyway. Thank someone for "Freedom of thought".:)

Im not acting like anything, the rules were devised by the BF2RS and BFROE. As a matter of fact BF2RS had rules that Indian didnt agree with so he left to make another set. Players policing other players, players deciding what is best for all players, players determining what should be and shouldnt be acceptable. Someone doesnt like it, they off and make a whole new set. Players who's judgement and motivation can and should be questioned. They were not elected, there was no oversight by the majority of players. Just some "players" who thought and think they know whats best for everyone. Now dispute this fact if you can.

Yes the IO Players were wiped for breaking these rules, but now what? The rule is null and void, yet these players still are punished and have paid the price for what? So now everyone can go and "Exploit", "Pad", etc. Only now its "legal"? If robbery was no longer considered "Illegal" would you not have to release all those incarcerated for the crime? As I said, its now "well to bad, you were punished for it so live with it". Seems kinda f**ked to me. Yet still you refer to the players as the bad guys and dont mention the server ops who make it possible and are allowed to continue. Punish the user and not the dealer, some police force.

Even if EA never stops supporting ranks, at what point does policing stop being prevalent? 2 years from now will those of you who support the ROE and stat wiping still be here to police it? When does this become innane enough for you guys to realize that what your policing is meaningless? When you switch from BF2 to 2142 or even BF3 will the rankings and points in BF2 still be such a concern for you? I am in a constant state of confusion regarding the veracity of some of you towards what essentially amounts to nothing. Even more I wonder how many of you supporters would stand behind the ROE if it were to effect your gameplay.

Thats all, Ive said my piece. My points are valid and thats enough. There is no right or wrong stance on the issue. The issue is meaningless. This is a game, not real life. It has no bearing or consequence on life and if it does for you then you have a problem.

you are very much wrong, I wrote their set, and the April update before it was handed off to EA and for them to edit, for this last set of ROE rules

                    thank you very much

(a simple yes or no would do just fine.)

                      1. Are you hired by EA to police BF2?

                      2. Does EA support your police program?

                      3. Will they put a pop-up notice in-game recognizing the ROE?

I just want a straightfoward answer for those 3 questions.

Why not go after the KP servers themselves?

Type pistol or knives in the server browser.......

Warn the owners of the server that they will be de-ranked if they don't obey the ROE.......Then go from there.

Has this option been discussed in the ROE program?

I still think that a message to users needs to be implimented as well. The K & P servers are not the only reason people are getting their stats wiped. Various methods have been discussed in previous posts in this thread... but what steps have to be taken to get at least one or two of them implemented?
