Re: ROE? I think not...
Ummmmmmm......fun??
ee you guys are confused, this here is a "game".
game1 /geɪm/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[geym]
1. an amusement or pastime
Thats it! This isn't life or anything like it. To police an amusement is ludicrous. When you go to the carnival, the only rules are for protection from harm. Theres no harm here, unless its your ego's.
As expected someone responded to me with "Play unranked", well I don't know about you, but when I payed my 50$ to "Play" this game, I didn't pay to be told where or how I could play. As far as I'm concerned the only limits to my playing should be hard coded in the software, not in some made up "AFTER THE FACT" piece of virtual paper. Written by people I've never heard of, don't necessarily agree with and cant help but wonder "Who are these guys to make the rules?" I didn't vote for them, was never given the opportunity to check into, nothing. Just "Here are the rules "We" have created, follow them or be punished". Hell for the first 2 months of this ROE, you couldn't even view the thing publicly. You had to register for their site first. This is how you devise and implement a rule set that can get you wiped? Who are these guys and who the hell told them they had all the answers? You still cant get a straight answer out of any of them, all the respond with is rhetoric and links to other things.
Now, you say don't play Ranked K/P. Ok fine I won't but that doesn't mean there not there, I could post a screen of every server in the list that offers "illegal" play, but that would be redundant. If I play there, I could get wiped. Yet the server would remain and others would invariably join, to get wiped in the future. Even so the server would remain. Punish the user, let the dealer keep selling. Thats a lot like entrapment, here in the real world. I don't see a lot of you complaining about the dealer, only the user. Fix the supply problem and the demand will falter.
Last point:
As was stated by someone else, what about those who were reset from IO play before the 1.4 patch. Obviously enough players wanted it that even EA couldn't ignore it (Yes I expect a ton of "I didn't want it", well your not the only one playing). How can you say your working for fairness in the game, when these people have been punished and now are allowed what they were punished for? In child rearing, this is tantamount to physcological abuse. What will you do for those players? "NOTHING". To bad for them, they deserved it "at the time". Fair??
What about when the ranks are no longer supported, you still gonna run around with your e-nightsticks and catch the virtual bad guys? Who's gonna be the bad guy, when the points and ranks no longer matter. Cheaters are more prevalent in BF2 now than they ever were. Don't be assinine and say "Theres no cheats", my daughter cheats at Chutes and Ladders so I'm positive theres cheaters here. Whats being done about that? Not much. No your to busy catching a guy getting a badge the "wrong" way. The guys who padded their trinkets (and there were many of them) before the ROE are the ones crying so loudly against these "Easy button trinkets". The ones who just want to play aren't crying about not being able to earn a badge, they are crying because instead of being able to play the game for what its purpose was (SEE DEFINITION ABOVE!), they must follow some other players "rules" which were determined by another "player". Fair??
Its sad to see what a minority of players has done to this game. Those Im reffering to will know who they are. They are the ones who will prop up a defensive posture and try to show how they are right thru flaming or ridicule. Won't see any real responses, just more rhetoric and maybe another link or 2. Probably see "If you dont like it, dont play", etc, etc.
Funny aside: I was deeply involved in the ROE argument in the past, I asked to many questions and made to many observations about its hypocritical nature and was subsequently removed from these forums (not by banning just removed), my biggest concern was in fact the infantry only aspect of it and how they could defend wiping stats for IO play. Ironic.
