BFROE = Teamsnitch TBH. If people want to get extra points then fine let em. If someone can get inside a building they shouldnt then this is EA's fault period, no one elses. If they had designed the game correctly then it wouldnt happen.

If someone uses a hack then punkbuster should deal with that. You BFROE guys will prob grow up to be Mall Security guards or Traffic Wardens, you know the addage "if the suit fits".

          Re: ROE? I think not...

Ok......first off I think that the stat padders, glitchers, hackers and abusive admins all deserve some kind of punishment.

          1. I think that the punishment of indviduals for playing on a KP server is ok IF EVERYONE knows that such behavior is wrong. To puruse and convict such people is wrong period. If you can't get EA to put some form of notification on this fact then you should ONLY go after the server owners.
          1) This has been discussed with EA many times, and this point brought up.
Alot of the time when there is no admin in the server the players will start a KP server and start vote kicking those who will not participate, so it's kind of hard to punish the server owner.

          2) Example, just this week, I went to a GSP because of a KP server, 4 times it was shut down and put back to it's default settings. The clan changed it right back, after the 4th time they went to another GSP and just continued.
so this is also a problem..

so your comment about just punishing the server owners is alot more complex than it appears.

          2. Everything that the ROE "team" does could be handled within EA and PB. Why have a team of "police" in a video game? Just the concept turns people off. The hackers and glitchers could be reported to PB just like it is now. ONE person within EA could look for KP servers and warn the admins of that server. Hell I could do it in two hours.
There is no way you could do this in 2 hours believe me..

Both ROE teams work directly with EA and PB on a daily basis, EACS does not have the time or manpower to deal with all of the reports we get,

With a Ranking system, there will always be those that abuse it to try and gain rank and unlocks illegally, so thats is where the reporting system comes in, we are not a police force..

Without a program that tries to keep the Ranking system as pure as we can, those that put in 1000 hours legitly would be pretty pissed if there was no one to keep a padder from gaining the same in alot less hours..

Other ideas, suggestions and concerns have been outlined in this thread without being addressed these are just my own. I suggest re-reading the thread for those.

Nor am I. I think KP servers are chaotic and random. If I want that I fire up UT2K4. Having a guy hover in the prone 3 feet off the ground while stabbing constantly is not my idea of a fun time. I do think that they must be fun for someone. There are too many populated KP servers to think otherwise. When DICE saw the demand for IO, they made it a ranked server option. What happens if KP gets the same treatment?

Nor am I, dont you get it already.

Lots of us are here for the game. We couldnt give a flying **** about stats and unlocks. I never ever use unlocked weapons in game unless I run out of ammo and lift some one elses.

So I couldnt be arsed if I have a kazillion points or 10, or if I have shiny unlocks or not. If you are there to play the game then play the game.

Off you go now and report more of the dreaded stats padders.

Double post sorry, but this is true, a while ago the ROE gestapo where asking for infantry only servers to be closed and stats cut. Then EA realised that it was the way that a lot of servers wanted to run, so they added the option.

I find that pretty funny. I'm actually a Production Manager for a very big steel company so no we don't always grow up to be a mall security guard but that does sound like a fun job.

                          Re: ROE? I think not...

Indianscout, thanks for replying to some of the things I pointed out. I admit that I thought noone was trying to go after the servers just the players. I've heard it said that EA didn't want to punish the server owners for fear of losing money and that really turned me off. I'm glad you guys are in fact trying to punish the server owners. I'm also sure that it would take more than 2 hours if these people keep switching GSP's and find other ways to keep getting servers up. That has to be frustrating work and I for one didn't know that you guys were involved in shutting down servers, it's good to hear.

The in-game message still needs to happen IMO and it does seem like that you have tried and are lacking support from EA which is sad. In fact it seems to me that EA isn't giving a whole lot of help at all to you guys.

One more question, aren't those GSP's a part of EA's trusted partners? Why can't EA go after some of the server providers afterall they agreed to a set of terms too? I'm sure there is a line somewhere in their agreement about only hosting "fair" servers, if there isn't then that needs to be changed. Say you find a server provider renting to a clan that has put up KP servers, you would de-list the server but also warn the provider and remind them that they provide a service and that they need to monitor that service closely. Afterall these GSP's get paid big bucks for their product and they need to take responsibility in assuring product quality.

Anyways, I definitely have more respect for you guys now and I do believe that you are trying. I think alot of people think that you ROE guys just go after the players, i did. I also didn't know how much volunteer time was contributed. It's good to hear. Thanks.

Pretty simple: As long as there's no flyer in the BF box stating something like "If you don't follow the rules which can be viewn at <URL to the ROE crap> some prick can report you for not following the rules you don't know because he likes to prolong his e-penis or just to piss you off to get your precious stats reset.

As long as this doesn't happen all this ROE is ******** . Further it's simply a joke if it's not backed by EA and not formulated non-ambiguous.

Like I said earlier, if you don't like the so called policing of games then you might as well pick up a console because this is the way of the gaming world whether we like it or not.

Wrong!!!! This is the way "YOU" and your cohorts are making the gaming world. This is not being brought into the fore by any other group than yours. This isnt an RPG, where you may actually lose monetary value of a character or items. This is a shooter where everyone has everything they will get when they install, save for weapon unlocks and the all important trinkets.

I would expect a more responsible reply from the DIRECTOR, to say "If you dont like it leave" is just the most irresponsible response ever.

I would say more, but then one of you will just call flame and ban me anyway.

This is NOT the future of gaming, this is what you want to be the future of gaming. I am positive that if you put this to a vote of the "GAMERS" you would find your position less than appreciated.

As for Indians braincells, Im sure he has enough to get by, what you and he have failed to realize is that NO ONE ASKED YOU TO SAVE US!! No one said "Gee I wish there was some policing force to tell us how to play this game we paid for". If there were someone who did, what about the rest of us who dont want nor need another authority figure in life to ruin what is essentially our good time?

So are you saying that the 30+ servers in the list right now with Knife and Pistol only in their names are being run by someone other than the Server Ops? Somehow some pub players got the passes to change the titile of these servers? Im sorry but your explanation makes no sense. How hard will it be to just monitor the list and delist any servers whose name come ups with K/P only in the server name? I could do this in my spare time, without even breaking sweat.

Again you punish the user and allow the dealer to remain. Gotta have them server dollars rollin in after all. Ive even seen servers with MYIS and the K/P title. There must be a better way than to punish those using them while allowing the ops to continue. Perhaps if the ops break this rule more than once, then they shoudlnt be allowed to rent another server. May take a bit of work, but its far better than just getting your screens from your snitches and wiping everyone in the server, which you dont even do. You select a player or two and they get reset. Why dont you just wipe everyone in the server? Seems like that would get the message across loud and clear. Instead of picking and choosing who out of all the players deserve a reset.

And yet look at all the guys who got wiped for it, what do they get now? A big F U from the ROE and EA. To bad, so sad.

Regardless, my days of gaming are coming to a close with my real life responsibilty's taking more and more precedence. Besides, you cant stop these guys, since they arent goverend by anyone, no oversight = Unlimited power. I will say that what you are doing to gaming is abhorant. Gaming isnt done for glory except for a small minority of players. This is a hobby, a pasttime, a stress reliever, etc. You guys are turning into a communist regime, run by those who like their govt. counter parts want things their way, or those who dont follow be damned. Its a sad precedence. Im ashamed to say that I even bothered.

Good luck to all of you in your future of cowering before the made up man. I may be around another week or so, Nov 5th is closing in.

                                Re: ROE? I think not...

I apologize for my statement earlier, as I was in a bit of an angry mood.

I would join BFROE if I could be assured that my ideas would be taken seriously. I recall Indian posting on BF2S asking for suggestions on the ROE and it seems nothing ever happened. If I were to be told by one of the BFROE directors that my ideas will be considered by the "higher consul" of BFROE and at least looked at, I would join and voice what I think.

Yes I do think statspadding is lame. But the method in which it's dealt with is primitive. We aren't in the BCE time now, we're in 2006 CE. Hamurrabi's Code doesn't work, most developed countries have a sensible justice system. If I kill a man I don't necessarily get killed but just sent to jail for a long amount of time. If a person statspads for Expert Repair or for his Expert Pistol Badge, only the awards and points gained from said statspadding should be erased. People caught hacking or glitching should be reset fully. But if I were to pad 1000 points, just reset those 1000 points.

That is probably the main reason why people don't like BFROE. They say you guys are a bunch of elitist guys who feel special being able to request a reset, but that's probably because you use principles dropped many many years ago. If the handling of resets was as I said, just resetting the points and awards gained, then people would probably be fine with it. I do believe that not allowing things like knife and pistol is silly, but I accept that it will probably remain that way for the life of the game. So all I and probalby much of the community want is to change how things are handled.
