On this and another forum, I read about how people use joy2key to do things they feel should have been possible/included in the original game...

But fact is, it wasn't included... period... That's up to DiCE...

I also feel a lot of things should have been included or different in the game...
Is it then ok for me to download programs that make it so..?

I hate to bring out something as vague as the ROE, but according to it, joy2key is just as much forbidden (if not more) than say macro's...

Even something as simple as spotting, will give you a discinct advantage over someone with the same joystick, but without joy2key...

though I understand the motives as to why people make up excuses...

On thing PB doesn't check for is Firmware modifications. Reason is because it doesn't have access to the Firmware of individual video cards.

So what program is next on the cutting block?

How about mouse and joystick drivers which allow binding keys to mouse/joystick buttons? Just binding a key to a mouse button is a violation of ROE.

Its sad if JoyToKey can do things which are not allowed. I really liked the spotting and look part. I think its rather a discrepancy on DICE's side that they restricted looking around to mouse only.

Though I couldn't imagine what are the things you can do with it that has not been included in the game.

Well one thing about it occurred to me last night when most good thoughts come and are most of the time lost in obliviong ... while trying to fall a sleep.
First of all, JTK is freeware and "advertised" on this forum, so I wouldn't call it an advantage before others, they are free to get it.

However, using a joystick can also be viewed as a disadvantage to those who are using the keyboard and a mouse to fly, since it is much simpler for them to use the commorose and mouse look than it is for joystick users. To do those things with a joystick you have to let go of it, reach for the mouse, fumble with your keyboard, spot/look and hopefully still be able to regain control over the jet/heli. I'd call that a disadvantage for joystick users.

And as much as I've read posts about joystick vs mouse/keyboard there is no clear consensus to which is better (its a matter of taste) so it cannot also be said that those using a joystick can manage better than someone with a keyboard and a mouse.

Any thoughts on this?

funny how ignorant some of you are you people think if macros are gone then their will be no more bunnyhopping and dalvindiving and what not well get a clue you can do those moves without MARCOS!!!111 we need to nag EA to fix these exploits not ban macros their are people that use macros legitemately has a server owner i use macros for say messages.

I just gotta say, I hear this every time people say they're leaving a popular game they think sucks. Most of the time, the unreleased game they're leaving to winds up sucking even more.

Macros will just as popular if not more in QW unless they hardcode the key delays.

If they ban the G15 then they should also ban the MX 518 mouse. Granted the MX518 doesn't have macro capabilities, but it does give the opposition an advantage by having multiple buttons.

I think DiCE has done a poor job on their implementation of not beeing able to change the control settings...
Either that, or I don't seem to understand their motives for making it as is...
Well, perhaps they left it like this, to give mouse users a break against joystick users in Jets... balancing... Who knows...

However, joy2key is an excuse 3rd party solution...
We should have been asking DiCE about implementing this in one of their patches as hard as others questioned about macro's, rather than a users now having to visit some forum, search, find and learn to use software like joy2key to include game-functions not originally implemented for joystick to ever be on level ground with joy2key 'expert' jet fighters...

Couse just some guy who bought this game and is flying left and right with his logitech joystick, will be totally in disadvantage by another who looks around, spots, and can guide a tv missile using the same joystick...
All becouse of joy2key...

When you launch the included .bat file, it will launch 2 instances of JoyToKey to your tray with the full setup. I have included the 2 config files I use with my MS Sidewinder Precision 2 to achieve the one-motion mouselook. You can check them out to see how I did it, or you can ask here and I can help. All I had to do was load 2 instances of JoyToKey and set each instance to use one of the 2 configs so that both configs are running simultaneously. It may sound a little confusing, but this is already done for you if you installed my config files.

ok when whe are banning by hardware whe should also ban people
with: excive ammounts of ram 1024mb is enough
high end videocards
tft or flat screens
mouse with more then 2 buttons
people with everglide mouse mats
screens bigger than 17 inch
proccesors higher then 2.5 ghz

i know this is al BS but also the talk of someone has a advantege when he is using macro's marco software is free to use everyone can and may use it
its the gamecode thats not secure enough so it can be exploited

Funny thing was I was in a server last night playing against a squad and they always had the drop on most of us with what seemed like one shot kills witht he G36E. Granted I know this gun is accurate and deadly but even if I started shooting first all they did was turn around prone and boom...dead. Funny thing was the gun is 3 round burst but evertime they shot it sounded like a fully automatic gun...

they are never going to ban the G15 or any hardware for that matter, never. most of the hardware is advertised and endorsed by ea, they give you G15 rebates right now if you preorder 2142 and they include them inside the package with bf2 and special forces. ea is getting kickbacks from the hardware companies like logitech and zboard, they will never ban thoes devices,never,ever,ever, nomatter how much people whine and cry. they will only ban the software and programs that they arent getting kickbacks from, you want to use macros your gonna have to get a G15 because EA doesnt give a **** about thoes macros, just the ones they cant cash in on.
