Wether or not is is unfair, I will leave to others...
I have no need for J2K and did not use autohotkey either...

The only advantage J2K has, is that you can spot people with a Joystick...

I don't know of any other advantage.

If you think about it, that makes it even... because mouse users are able to just spot like normal while in vehicles, while the JS users weren't able to. I just have it so that 1 button on my JS = Q and the trigger = left click.

You are mistaken... I don't even have a joystick...
Though years back when I did and I was into flightsims (way before this forum existed), I did research joy2key, but found nview (newview) to better suit my needs, couse it has configurable acceleration along it's POV axis and loads of other functions, making it much more usefull...
Downside was that back then, it was only available in Russian language :)

I would agree that most people probably don't know either...

You can't imagine what I'm talking about? Good. Give a little credit to me though because I know what I'm talking about and I know how to account for lag/fps and other factors that playing on a local server can bring. The macro I created gives you a pretty ridiculous advantage in infantry combat (and no I didn't determine that by fragging bots) and that's all you really need to know.

If you saw someone in the game using the macro I mentioned above you wouldn't think to yourself "Wow that guys a cheater!" but rather you'd be thinking "Holy sh*t that guy is amazingly good!". But it isn't skill... it's a macro.

Well I do believe I know all types of macros out there for BF2. And since patch 1.4 there is none giving you a huge advantage in infantry combat.

I can think of a burst fire / no recoil script, but these things dont help you much in BF2. In other games, sure - CSS for example. Thats why these scripts are forbidden in major leuages although scripting is very common in CS. But in BF2 its useless. You shoot better doing everything manually.

You can even code an aimbot only using AutoHotKey, I have seen examples for CSS, but thats a cheat anyway and wont work in BF2. In CS you can also fool around with netsettings, changing them ingame via script, making you lag like hell as long as you press the button etc.. not in BF2

So what's the point? All the other things you can do are gimmicks and worthless.

I'd never use such an unfair cheat online so I couldn't test it in a "real" gaming enviroment but their is no doubt in my mind it'd be just as good as it was on my local network.

Goodbye EA/DICE...I'm taking my money to the Quake Wars.
I just gotta say, I hear this every time people say they're leaving a popular game they think sucks. Most of the time, the unreleased game they're leaving to winds up sucking even more.

"Goodbye WoW, time to go play Vanguard!"

I can't think of a way JTK could be used for an unfair advantage, I use it for spotting, seat switching and voip. Things that should have been programable in the BF2 interface.

                    My thoughts, exactly.

                    This thread cracks me up.

All those saying 'good riddance' to Autohotkey are the ones bemoaning it's use for the players using it for things like prone spamming and the like. The rest are wondering what the big deal is. I think I fall into the latter.

I've never used the program - never even thought about it actually, as I own a G15. But if I did use AHK, I certainly wouldn't use it for actions. I'd script macros for things that I thought should've ALREADY BEEN in the game, had DICE not half-a$$ed it's development in the first place.

EXAMPLE: It's almost a year and a half after it's release, and I'm still pissed at how retarded binding keys are. How BASIC is that?!? I'm buying 2142 only because I want to finally bind keys properly!

And BTW, none of my macro keys on my G15 are tied to actions, they're all tied to the comm rose, and 'spotted' alerts for my teammates.

Well if you're going to ban joy to key....then you should basically ban anyone that binds their keys on the kb differently than the stock configuration. It gives you an unfair advantage over people that either don't know how to do it or are just too lazy to do it.

It's basically the same thing. Which is ridiculous. All J2K does is bind key strokes from a keyboard to the JS right? Maybe they should ban JS usage too.....

                          Re: Autohotkey banned by Punkbuster

It was kind of silly for Punkbuster to add this feature as anyone who has a clue can compile their script and run it as an exe thus bypassing any autohotkey detection.

Although I would too like to see the prone spammers done away with (and they have for the most part) banning macros isnt going to stop it. There are also legitimate uses for macros in my opinion. For instance, I fly with a joystick so ofcourse I need to use JoyToKey to be able to spot. Also why are Mouse/Keyboard pilots favoured when it comes to Commo Rose access, why doesnt the joystick move around the menu? It doesnt and it is quite impossible for me to radio using the mouse while flying with the joystick so I admit I mapped the radio binds to keys using auto hot key.

Yes....there are legitimate reasons for using such programs. How can EA not understand that?

They arent saying you cant have the app they are just saying you cant run it while you play BF2. unless of course you use your rig to do other things while you play BF2.....

I was adament on this forum that it was possible for a long time (around the 1.02 to 1.03 patch) and i got called a noob a liar and a load of other names thing is that turned out to be the truth in the end .

Think about it theres a type of unsupported graphics card that will run bf2 on low settings only problem is it dosnt draw the buildings. So you can see the enemy on the other side of the building as its not been drawn. Basically you dont always need software to cheat some times hardware can be manipulated to cheat.
On thing PB doesn't check for is Firmware modifications. Reason is because it doesn't have access to the Firmware of individual video cards.

So what program is next on the cutting block?
