Did Logitech pay Punkbuster off or something? If you're going to ban macros then ban them all (I'm looking at you G15). Don't just ban one popular program that happens to be completely freeware so that anyone can use it. As lame as macroers are at least with a program like AHK in the mix players who want to cheat don't have to pay some corporate whores sixty bucks for a crappy keyboard. I know that logic sounds somewhat twisted but as much as I hate people who use "easy mode" macros to supplement their own lack of skill I hate legalized cheating where people can simply buy an advantage even more.

I doubt they'll start banning the G15, not after they went and signed a nice promo deal with Logitech to distribute coupons for their stuff with 2142 preorders. Knowing how ruthless EA is, I wouldn't put it past them to ban AutoHotKey because they aren't getting a check for it. Force the people who want to use macros to buy a G15.

I also wouldn't be suprised with 2142 if they take another page from WoW's book and hard code in server side minimum delays between certain actions, like prone, crouch, jump, prone, etc...

If they would do just do that then there would be any issue at all. They made a good step in this direction w/last patch, but Dice needs to take it to completion...

Unfortunatly, there is only the topic poster, who thinks he might be kicked for using autohotkey...

All they have to do is not let you have the G-series Keyboard Profiler on while you are playing battlefield. Without this program running, the macros don't work.

Let's see if they will later on kick for joy2key as well...

goddamnit .. I actually have huge problem with this

tons of people probably have 100% legit uses for such software .. also, bunch of people could be using them, and have NO clue it's frowned upon - remember, people frequenting forums are minority after all (I bet most of knife+pistol server goers have no idea they could get reset for that)

All this, because it's probably just more work to patch the ability to make macros (or gain something by using them) out of the game .. instead, it's just much easier to kick for background processes

You're bitching because Punkbuster is enforcing the TOS? I'm sure some people have 100% legit uses, but as always, the bad apples spoil the good ones. I'd rather have punkbuster work like it's supposed to, instead of continuing to let the people use it.
