On what grounds are you baising your opinion that BF2 is dead? Is it that because you don't play anymore , the BF2 community dies?

There was a new patch released just the other week, adding a new map to the game and making a lot of fixes, the game is still selling in high numbers accross the world, ranked server rentals are still increasing every day and the game it's self is just over 14 months old! It doesnt sound to me like the kind of activity that centres around a "dead" game.

What the hell are you talking about? Just because you suddenly found out that your nob ISNT for peeing over high walls with, doesn't mean that a popular gaming community will stop playing their fave game - talk about an inflated opinion of yourself self! lol

Jesus, I remember buying R6: rogue spear and playing right up until it DID die, some SEVEN YEARS after it's release, and I can tell you now I'm going to squeeze every bit of life out of BF2 and from what I can see it's still very much at it's peak with no signs of decline yet. If anything with the imminent release of BF2142, the BF2 community is set to benefit and prosper, what with a lot of the noobs, short attention span kids and idiots moving accross to play on the latest incarnation of the game. Means more GGz for real fans of the game and you are less likely to have your game ruined by some spoilt 12 year old kid.

I play it but yesterday was the first time in a month. I would play it non-stop if it wasn't for the loading times. I don't care about the bugs, its the loading times that put me off. There ridiculous!

Others are getting 1 minute loading times, im getting 10 minute long loading times and 80% of the time it says connection lost anyway.

That's my only beef with Bf2, other than that... lets just say that this is the best and worst game ever. (For me anyway)

I haven't played in about a month man. Between school, homework, band practice and women, I haven't had much time lately; that and I really didn't want to run into more BS w/ 1.4. But I have noticed there are some people who still frequent the forums (such as myself) because we have grown to like the community.

So are there other people out there like me?

OMG! I have never experienced anything like that for an extended period of time. Is it something in the water over there? I mostly play on servers that have no admins present and no rules, and I have never seen this kind of behavior. I can see why you walked away. Sorry to hear that.

It is sad that there are so many detractors to the game that do this crap.

When I hear this, I get to thinking that GD, Colin had better get that community ranked map program up and going quick. Because we need a few DC style No Fly Zone maps that are packed with airplanes and lots of area to fly in. Sprinkle a couple choppers in for good measure.

Maybe then, all the kids that want the Helo or J10 will find a place to be play, without the TKs.

Lol, I didn't walk away I got sort of bored, it happened before in October last year, I didn't play till January 2006. I'll probly play again in maybe a day,week,month,year? I don't know. I got kind of bored, I wouldn't leave because of smacktards, I only left temp of boredom, its 100 times better playing with pro teams like Warchild as I did, and that was on Karkand for a round, no nade spam or crap like that and it actually was a good game and I haven't really had a good game on karkand since last year when I first started playing.

Put my statement as "pubbing got me bored for the time being."

BF2 still rocks when you get a good squad who communicates. Yes I still play but I stopped playing for a couple of months. It was mostly due to 1.3 though...

Yes, I play BF2 less frequently but still have some hours a week.

I used to play the eff out of it, but it's dropped waaay off lately.

My enthusiasm began cooling when I got around the 400 hour mark... I'd seen all the funny things, seen all the clever things, and seen a freighter load of stupidity, selfishness, poor sportsmanship and insipid/illterate "J"-based flame wars. And because of all the crybabies, it's become a lot less compelling than it once was.

If I don't read the words "n00b" or "gay" again for a thousand years, it'll be too soon. When you're out of junior high for a few decades, it's kinda shocking to sign into a random public server around 4 in the afternoon and refresh your memory of just how content-free the sub-15 year old crowd really was, and still is. Only nowadays they're not just empty-headed, they're vicious and stunningly arrogant.

All in all, it's been fun, but it's also coming very close to being enough. More than enough.
