Who does still play?

I haven't played in about a month man. Between school, homework, band practice and women, I haven't had much time lately; that and I really didn't want to run into more BS w/ 1.4. But I have noticed there are some people who still frequent the forums (such as myself) because we have grown to like the community.

So are there other people out there like me?

IMO BF2 is dead, and it's sad.

I still play BF2 alot, though for the past week it's been Diablo2 again. Always gotta go back in teh past sometimes.

But I know what you mean. I visit halflife2.net daily, and post all the time, because I enjoy the community. I don't play HL2 anymore, or any mods as of right now, but I do enjoy the chats we all have. So I feel ya.

I took a 3 month break back in Oct. of last year and then recently a 1 month break when work got hectic, otherwise, I still play and enjoy BF2. Loving infantry only, it's a nice change up from vBF2, especially with SF. Also playing some POE2 off-n-on too.

Beta's 2142, pre-ordered/veteran etc, and will play that too when it's released.

So in answer to your question, Yes. :)

I've been losing my lust for the game lately. I'm getting tired of the inequities of the game, the extreme number of hackers in it and the lameness of some people in it.

Like one poster said, I've pretty much got all the medals/ribbons/badges I'm gonna get without pluggin in 100's of more hours. My desire for the game is starting to fade fast.

I used to play the eff out of it, but it's dropped waaay off lately.

My enthusiasm began cooling when I got around the 400 hour mark... I'd seen all the funny things, seen all the clever things, and seen a freighter load of stupidity, selfishness, poor sportsmanship and insipid/illterate "J"-based flame wars. And because of all the crybabies, it's become a lot less compelling than it once was.

If I don't read the words "n00b" or "gay" again for a thousand years, it'll be too soon. When you're out of junior high for a few decades, it's kinda shocking to sign into a random public server around 4 in the afternoon and refresh your memory of just how content-free the sub-15 year old crowd really was, and still is. Only nowadays they're not just empty-headed, they're vicious and stunningly arrogant.

All in all, it's been fun, but it's also coming very close to being enough. More than enough.

I still play it but despite all the mods, it's getting boring frankly. 1.4 freshened things up with a new map and the cool no-vehicles server option but overall the sheer number of hackers is ridiculous and takes the fun out of the game.

I'll admit something here and you can hate me for it, but at least I'm being honest. I found the popular cheat that the hackers use. I spent $20 to access their forums (and the hack) for one week. Using the hack you can easily see who else is hacking and let me tell you, on the pubs, there are alot.

How did I see who else was hacking? By watching people. When you can see other players' outlines behind hills, inside buildings, etc. it's easy to spot cheaters. For example, on maps with hills where snipers like to sit, you can easily see when they're behind the hill and when they're exposed. I saw a sniper on a hill, just behind the crest, and watched him tracking me. I ran behind a building and to the other side. He pivoted. The whole time he was NOT exposed so therefore the hill was blocking his view. I even tried testing to see if maybe he was doing the logical sniper thing (someone you're tracking gets wise so you automatically pivot to the opposite side of the bldg). However, I could run back and forth behind the building all day and he was keeping a bead on me. Even worse is the people that are using the aimbot.

That's just one shining example. 1.4 did not stop the hackers, in fact, the new BF2142 already has hacks.

One thing I couldn't understand, being a gamer that has played BF2 and ALL of the mod packs since day one, is why people continue to cheat. It's all about stat whoring. It is much less fun seeing where everyone is and killing them first. It costs way too much, and if you get busted, you have to spend even more money to buy another CD key. The minuses just outweigh any perceived pluses. Cheating is stupid, especially when it costs real world money and ruins the game for everyone else.

However last weekend I did discover the excellent PoE2 mod, which really brings the game to life. PoE2 has weapons that hurt, jets that feel real and tanks that can take a beating and dish one out. It has incredible helicopters, cargo choppers with tons of rockets and guns, safe place for troops, etc. The variety is staggering. If, like me, BF2 is just getting old, I highly recommend you download it and give it a shot.

i still play so its not dead to me i dont consider it dead if you look hard you see servers are full usally so its not dead.

BF2 isn't dead and there are plenty of servers still going. So because you stop playing doesn't mean everyone else has.

Dude, I totally agree with you. I know exactly what site you are talking about (see my post titled "cheating at epidemic proportions"). I didn't buy this hack, but someone in my household did, and showed me exactly what it does. Exactly how it works. How you can use ESP to see through walls, know exactly where enemies are at all times. How you can use the distance marker to know how close someone is to you. How to use the aimbot assigned to your left mouse button to get 100% accurate TV missle shots form absurd distances and angles. Someone in a tank with this hack can rack up 100 kills easily. I watched it happen. Its truely sad, and one of the main reasons I have lost interested in playing the game.

I still play. I knew the hackers were getting really bad when BF2 sent out an email to all of us about the new aimbot.

But in any case, if theres one hacker per game, thats not THAT bad.

I just try and no think about it. I stil play. Unless the hackers are really really rally anoying I won't quit.

Just yesterday I played a game of Sharqui, two guy in the heli, I think they were cheayting bu I still kept going up after them. If nothing else to distract them for those little bits of time to give the rest of my team a chance to move forward.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not even all that good in a heli, but im not crap either.

I got 2 purple hearts in two rounds, shot them down maybe 6 times in the whole thing.
