      WTF are you talking about....

I take it you came from what happens when your last statment occurs...

      ON TOPIC....

I personally like the fact that they made you have to go prone to fire this weapon...I also like the fact they are trying to make things more based on their real world counter parts....

While the a light fifty is a short recoil rifle that uses a recoiling barrel this does not mean it has NO recoil felt by the user...What I was alluding to is that that small amount of recoil coupled with the heavy weight and long length of the weapon would more than likely cause you to lose balance and fall...

Bottom line you would not want to shoot this gun standing PERIOD...

        -edit

Also the weapon empty is about 28.4 lbs and it is not the weight that reduces recoil.... it is the short recoil design and the recoiling barrel that reduces recoil...god I hate idiots
Did you fail physics class? Weight is also a major contributing factor to recoil reduction. Most bolt guns that one would take deer hunting weigh in at around 8lbs. Give or take. I've shot .270 synthetics that kick way harder than any .50 cal I've shot. Biggest rifle I fired was a 20mm BOLT ACTION. No semi-auto is going to even approach that level of recoil, and even THAT wasn't that bad due to the muzzle brake.

So a rifle weighing in a 30+lbs is going to exhibit a HELL of a lot less felt recoil than one weighing 20lbs firing the same cartridge. DUUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRR. Need me to spell it out some more for you?

You want recoil? You really want to feel some "kick?" Shoulder a double barrel .10 guage with two monster goose loads in the barrel and a hard-wood stock and squeeze off both triggers. Then you'll have an idea of recoil. My grandfather has one of these and I did exactly that when I was 15yrs old. Bloodied my nose and gave me a good ringing for a while.

The other thing you havnt a clue about... is that most bigger rifles have less "felt" recoil due to the fact they use slower burning powders. You get a "shove" more so than a "kick." Typical though... you know NOTHING and have zero real world experience and you intend to argue that you obviously are a expert on the subject.

My real world experience lies in the fact that I've been shooting guns since I was five years old. I go hunting SOMETHING or other almost every other day. Have you fired a .50 cal? Have you fired ANY rifle?

God forbid I come in with some actual expertise and correct someone making an absolutely IDIOTIC claim. All the more reason I rarely post on these forums anymore.

^^^^Good stuff. You know what your talking about thats for sure. Im not sure I would be stupid enough to fire both rounds out of a 10gauge but to each his own. I dont know why so many people fail to at least research a little before they post.

The anti material rifles in the game, regardless of what names they have applied to them , are designed after the as yet released Barrett XM109 Anti-Material rifle, featuring explosive ammunition designed for light vehicles.

The base model weapon used to create the XM109 was the Barrett M82.

The reason it is still currently in development, is that and I quote

As a side note, the Barrett M82A1 rifle was used in 2002 as a platform for the experimental OSW (Objective Sniper Weapon) prototype. This weapon was fitted with a shorter barrel of 25 mm caliber, and fired low-velocity high explosive shells developed for the 25 mm OCSW automatic grenade launcher. The experimental OSW showed an increased effectiveness against various targets but the recoil was beyond human limitations. This weapon, also known as the Barrett 'Payload Rifle', has now been designated the XM109.

I only go on the German side cuz of the sniper on that side. i hate the other one on the Ukfraine side and dont like the 50 cal cuz u have to lye down all the time. It is good when u are sneaking arround and go to a good hiding place where u got a good view of everything even when ur lying down. but other than that its not that usefull imo
Umm... Isn't that... umm... what snipers actually do? Lie down and get cover? I never heard of them giving covering fire... Maybe "u" don't actually get the concept? Cuz u have to lye down and all?

                    Re: .50 CAL Sniper rifle...holy ****!!!

He's right on with the powder. I broke open a .50 round one time using the headlight fixture on the front slope of the M1A1. We then spread it on the ground and lit it.

It was as if i was burning black powder like a scene out of the western movies except of course there is alot less smoke. If i remeber correctly, much of the larger caliber ammo needs to use slower burn as to build the pressure in the brass casing evenly. If you ever broke open a M829A1 as the Aft-cap broke off while your loader was trying to extract the nitro-cellulose casing out of the breach, you would also see bags of what looks like black powder.

Most of these big rifles has a recoil damper along with a muzzle compensator. If you remember your physic class, its all about speed. Thus, if you spread the recoil out, you get a fraction of the original felt recoil. This is the same principle as the airbag in your car.

The NTW-20 uses a combination of 2 dampers to reduce the resultant felt recoil. If my memory serves me, the M82 uses a huge spring instead.

The 30 lb beast is probably at the very edge of man portable. Not so much in weight, but dimension. I've carried the M240 (and the M60)with about 300+ of rounds of ammo for long dismounted operation lasting weeks. It's very very uncomfortable simply because the weight distribution on a MG tends to be front heavy (as most of the mass sits in front of the grip).

By comparisons the M82 is about 25%-35% longer than your average GPMG. Oh, you can lug it around, just dont expect to use it before you get to the hide site.

When it comes to something I'm very passionate about... pretty anal.
When it comes to morons propogating idiotic information on the internet... very anal.

I didn't take a shot at them for no reason. The reason is clear: They are attempting to talk intelligently about a topic they have NO IDEA about. I refuse to let them do it without resistance.

Then there are people like you, whom are neither right nor wrong... that step in and say "stop picking on the poor retard... he didn't know" in an attempt to insult me for being right.

Saying something that is WRONG carries consequences. But I'm sure they appreciate you holding their hand while receiving a verbal tongue lashing about just how wrong they were. Was that your good deed for the day?

Saying something that is WRONG carries consequences. Real men admit when they are wrong, and attempt to LEARN about the subject, so as not to be wrong next time.

                      Grow up.
