I'll shoot at a attack chopper with the .50 call any day of the weak. If it helps my team take down an attack helo I'm not going to hide to try to protect some precious Kill/death ratio.

But the gun on the rib IS NOT A .50CAL and alot of lower ranks dont know that so they start shooting at the attack heli (on wake) so then the attack heli turns around and blows up the rib. If you want to shoot at the attack heli with a .50CAL great id realy happy about it, it might get the thing to sod of so i can get on wake island.

Basically all im saying is rank tells me your experience it dosnt tell me your a great player but it does tell me you know the score and your not going to get me killed by doing something retarded. Like shooting at an attack heli with the gun on the RIB.

"Time spent and accumulated experience goes a long way and consequently reflects in rank" is an obvious statement, but there are other sides to the equation.
I often like to observe or join squads with superior ranking players who score highly (which should indicate a competent player), but more often than not I end up being disappointed. You normally find that (and I'm not insinuating all high ranking players do this) these higher ranking players armour/helo/jet whore the whole round for their points or just plainly spawn rape and nade spam.
The sad but true fact in most cases is - "time spent + experience = more ways to accumulate easy points at any cost".

In BF2 ranks and awards are way to hyped. Ppl made a big deal out of nothing. EA (or DICE, idk) shouldnt have made awards requirments for promotion. It increases stat padding, and brings annoying smacktards to the game. How many of u here played/play DF:BHD. That game had ranks and awards yet ppl didnt care. Rank = sh!t all. No one constantly looked at the score board to see what rank u were. Its too late now, but BF2142 has gone down the same path as BF2. 43 ranks. Wow, what a reason to buy the game.

I don't think rank means much. I mean you can get to general by paddle whoring in a dark corner of Karkand or ammo spamming to someone throwing nades into the water. Just becasue a guy is a general doesn't mean he has the skill. There are people out there who are pathetic enough to buy two copies of the game just so they have a bogus account to stat pad against.

I have seen a general on a server that wasn't very good at all. He fumbled around like an idiot an died alot. Maybe it was his little brother playing his account(yeah I beleive that too).

I'm not implying anyone here is like that just saying just becasue someone is a general it doesn't mean they are any good.

What I'm trying to say is, making a big deal about ranks is just not worth it. Sure, its tons of fun getting them, that self sense of achievement is quite rewarded. But sometimes ppl take it too far and damage a perfectly good game. Nothing against u specifically SI, but I think that maybe your taking this to seriously. I mean, u do put Lieutenant General, at the end of every post. Thats not bad, do it if u want idc, its just....different.

hehe I always end up helping the lower ranking guys out in a situation were the other team is full of generals and other high ranks i.e. they tank, plane, chopper hore the other team to death.

I have not played as much as others at my rank and I think its a mix of skill and time but ive noticed I have wiped the floor with players higher than me so i dunno :)

I find that some people with a higher rank are for the most part good players, but then again, you can have noobs that kick *** as well. I was playing Karkand the other day, pistol and knife server, and a dude with a Private ranks came second overall but a small margin of points.
