I would like to play a Civil War shooter....or American Revolution........I'm not sure the idea is really sellable though.

And this is why there are the mods. If you want to play a game like that bad enough, you could start a mod or at least gather enough like minded folks together and start a site in hopes of recruiting modders to help you realize your dream.

I voted yes, but only because I'd like to see a 'new' 1942 (if, indeed, it turned out like that).

I'd prefer to see something on the Second Sino-Japanese war.

I would personally prefer to see a BF3 MMO or just a more immersive multiplayer experience.

I want to see modern combat with real countries, armies, and weapons.

I want to see destructables environments that STAY THAT WAY. Meaning this virtual world can be scarred (and rebuilt?).

I'd love to see areas that can be conquored and headquarters that can be toppled. Countries that can be eliminated (whereupon a rebel faction would resume).

I'd love to see a specific Armor Division, Air Force, Navy, SOCOM, recon teams - one has to choose where they want to go with each account.

Try CIV III Play the World. That is about as close to your ideal game as you are going to get.

I would play a new BF3 modern combat game. There are so, so many modern day scenarios that BF2 hasn't even touched on. More US maps, (midwest, west coast LA, yes even NYC (it's a game, the graphics are good enough these days) Africa, more middle east, some european village.

For the next year or two...

The WW2 game will be FH2.
The Vietnam game will be EOD2.
The modern combat will POE2 or new *DC2 mod. ( i think armed assult may be too technical for most tastes.)
The future combat could be QW:ET. ( certain not bf2142 as beta testers are slagging it already)

Nothing else on the horizon.

Yep, because I never got to play 1942. My old pc sucked and my parents never spent any money on me. Got a job, built my own gaming rig and then I got BF2 woot. So yeah, a WWII BF game wouldn't be old to me at all.

Is batlefield 1918 a bf2 mod? I couldn't find alot of info on it....mostly german seems like.

I'm pretty sure it's a mod.

they should definetly kick back to world war two. it would be really sweet if EA could put emphasis on Naval combat because its never been in BF to a good extent, can you imagine a map entirely composed of ships? 4 battships, 2 carriers, 2 subs, airplanes whirling throught the sky, boarding ships attacking enemy ships. it would just be amazing.

WW1 was when naval warfar was at its finest(IMHO ) and in terms of games has not been done much until know. It offers alot of new and unique gameplay that would differ from the rest but still shine as a BF title. But as all the other have said Ill wait for the mods. There already is a few WW1 mods coming out, and WW2 ones aswell.

I'm with you on that. WWI appears in very few (if any?) games. Most people don't know enough about it to make a game out of it. But it's all in the history books for anyone who cares. I'd love to play it because I don't really know all that much about it and I wouldn't know what to expect.

More of a Pacific than European battle then? Doesn't sound like a bad idea, I like Europe better though. Maybe they could just do both!

i voted "dont know" because if one was made and it still had pansy ****ing peashooter weapons like bf2 and all those cheating commander assets then i wouldnt want to play it. if it had good accurate weapons then i might...
